This is better than the 1990's version and full of action.

Most of the time an American remake of an Asian film (or any foreign film for that matter) does not compare or hold up to the original. I am a fan of the original Korean Oldboy film, so I had to check this one out despite the reviews. I am Glad I did!! This is one of the remakes (IMO) that does a great job translating the original movie. There are some changes made to the characters & script, but to me that makes it more interesting than watching an exact replica of the original movie, especially if you have seen it before. The pacing & action are just right for this movie. Some fans of the original will not like these changes, but I think it makes it a more interesting movie that can hold up on it's own. The only gripe I have is that some scenes look really grainy, almost dvd like quality.

Please ignore the negative reviews this was an excellent movie! Great directing, great acting, great story, and great soundtrack. People are only being critical because it wasn’t directed by Mel Gibson or Quentin Tarantino. Check out this excellent film and enjoy!

the movie was good a lot of action and story was good but it was very weird.

This film had me on the edge of my seat in many points. Really keeps you wondering "Who did it?" throughout the film. Just when you think you know what's happening they surprise you. You'll never guess the ending! You definitely want to rewatch it!

What an amazing remake! Josh Brolin is amazing and can't believe Spike Lee directed this!

A little twisted. Not really gory but realistic as far as that goes. I don't want to say too much, I don't want to give anything away. It's a must watch!
