I really like this camera. It is very durable and I love the flip up screen. The only thing that I don't like about it is if you are in water and taking pictures, sometimes there will be a drop of water on the lens that makes the picture blurry (This may be a problem with all cameras of this type). I couldn't tell that half the picture was smudged out until i looked at them on the computer. My favorite thing about the camera is that you can download the app on your phone and upload pics to your phone and I used it as a remote to take family pics on the beach. This camera is a great price for a camera/video camera. I would definitely recommend!

I just started kayaking and am planning a ski trip with my kids. Looking for a rugged camera which was waterproof, I read a lot of reviews, did a lot of shopping before settling on the Olympus TG-860. So far I have no regrets and am looking forward to getting a lot more use out of it. This was by far the best value and am well pleased. The flip up screen, allowing the ability to see for any selfie or group pic you are taking, even with the timer on a tripod is one feature that NONE of the other had and is something to really consider.

I inspector homes and take a lot of pictures. I love my Canon DSLR, great image quality but it is bulky. I spend a lot of time under decks, using ladders, on roofs, in attics, basements and crawlspaces. No matter how hard I tried, I was constantly banging my DSLR, throwing it over my shoulder to keep it out of harms way as I did my job. That all changed when I purchased the TG-860. I liked it because it was small so I could put it in a pocket but Mostly Because: It Is DUST PROOF. After a shooting for days, weeks with my DSLR I had to spend countless hours cleaning the lens. I guess I should have expected that because air and dust gets sucked into and deposited on the lens, mirrors and image capture device every time you zoom in and out. In comparison the TG-860 has a sealed lens and Olympus recommends cleaning the TG-860 by submerging it in or running water over it. Try doing that with your DSLR or iPhone!! While I doubt I will use my TG-860 to take pictures under water, being able to eliminate hours of cleaning to keep dust out my pictures is a breath of fresh air. I bought this camera to take kayaking, hiking and camping. No need to worry if it gets wet or dropped, and both have happened already. Plus it does take really good pictures. One of my favorite features is being able to send the pictures directly to my phone. I'm sharing them before we've left the lake!

Purchased as a gift for my wife. She uses it mostly to take macro shots of insects, spiders, and flowers. Waterproof makes it worry free to use in dew and rainy conditions. The flip screen saves her back when she is next to the ground. If it gets muddy or dusty she can wash it off. Perfect for her use.

The Olympus TG-860 was the perfect camera for what I was looking for. We went on a trip to Hawaii and wanted to have a camera that would capture good quality pictures and videos as we were going to snorkel a lot. This camera delivered all that I was expecting, videos were clear and sharp (with all the movement of swimming and taking pictures no blurry pics), pictures really displayed the colorful beauty in the coral reefs. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who plans to do a lot of underwater activities.

This camera gets used everyday at a dog daycare. Rain or shine, it provides great pictures for our clients.

easy to use, screen easy to see, just make sure you switch to underwater mode and very easy to wash off! just make sure of the backlight and if not enough you can use the flash. it took me 2-3 dive trips to see how to operate properly but now the pics come out great!!

Bought this camera to replace the phone camera while traveling abroad. The durability and the fact that it's waterproof adds plenty of peace-of-mind when you want to take pictures in harsher environments. Waterproof is self-explanatory, and well appreciated when you want to do camera adjustments while the rest of your body is submerged in saltwater. Picture quality is decent right out of the box in Auto mode, but manual adjustments (especially exposure) come handy. Gimmicky Instagram-like filters come standard as well. Low-light quality is ok, but that's not the focus of this camera. The flip-around monitor is great for it utilizes the main lens and main sensor for selfies, rather than a dedicated camera that is typically of lower quality. A great unexpected bonus is the Wi-Fi direct connectivity, which brings in the ability to transfer photos to phone, geo-tag, and use the phone as a remote viewer and basic controller (provided you've downloaded the Olympus app).

I bought this camera for a recent trip to Moab, UT, Arches N.P. and Canyonlands N.P. This camera was able to handle the water during our white water rafting trip. The sand and dirt from the desert climate of Arches and Canyonlands. The pictures came out looking great. The best feature for me on this camera was the selfie LCD screen. I went on this trip with one other friend. We were able to take photographs with each other and the great scenery around us. I really loved this camera. The camera has a smartphone app, so you can upload all of your camera pics to your smartphone at the end of the day. This camera has it all, durability, great images, great functions (selfie LCD screen and smartphone upload). You cant go wrong getting this camera of any type of adventure vacation.

I bought this camera for taking pictures underwater in Hawaii. The camera takes great pictures on sunny days, the quality of indoors pictures is ok. By default the flash is activated using the underwater mode, what seems a mistake to me. Quality of pictures compared with a good pocket camera (I have a sony cybershot) is inferior but the waterproof capabilities overcome this aspect. I took great pictures on boats, beaches and underwater without worrying about damaging my camera!

This camera took fantastic pictures on my trip to the Bahamas. We did a tour with the Swim with the Pigs and the colors that came out were fantastic. We did some snorkeling and the pics were ok. I thought they'd a bit more vibrant. Very easy to use in and out of the water. Simple buttons, easy record button, took great videos with great sound. The only reason I purchased this camera over the newest Olympus, was that I really liked the flip up selfie feature. I was able take tons of pics with me and the pigs. :) Oh and the battery life was exceptional compared to my Samsung digital. Wow! This thing lasted the whole week without recharging. My Samsung can barely get through 50 pics without dropping juice. I definitely would recommend this as a waterproof camera.

I bought this camera because I wanted something that was waterproof and compact. This camera takes amazing pictures both underwater & on land, and is not as bulky as the other waterproof cameras out there. The flip screen and selfie button on the front of the camera makes it easy to take pictures of yourself when you don't have another person to take it for you. I would definitely recommend this camera to my friends.

We bought this camera because we needed an underwater camera/camera that could get wet for our Caribbean vacation. This camera had great reviews and the specs looked pretty identical to the TG-3 and TG-4 but $100 less. It took great underwater pictures as well as out of water pictures. We also recently used in when we went kayaking in class 2-3 rapids and it took great pictures and was able to stay secure on my life jacket using the wrist strap. Extremely happy with this purchase and have had no issues with it yet.

I'd been looking for waterproof camera that still had features like GPS and some zoom. This camera is great with the flip out screen and it can be controlled from my phone. Can even view what the camera sees on the phone. Looking forward to taking it on a vacation.

I bought this camera to take on our honeymoon; it is waterproof, and the view screen can flip up for easily taking selfies- there is even a convenient button on the front to use for taking pictures this way. The salesperson who helped me said he liked Olympus cameras, and now I can say I do too! It took great pictures on land and underwater, and was easy to use.

The OlympusTG-860 is easy to use and durable. The size is perfect and it produces quality photos and videos. Great camera for active lifestyles and outdoor adventure!

I had a Nikon for the past 10 years that I recently broke in S Africa, mind you it took slamming it to the deck of a boat to do it! I read up and rather than buy the same camera I learned about this TG 860. There are newer models out there, but at a greater price point. I tried this camera out in every mode and the pictures are spectacular. Even hand held at night came out with Christmas lights and with a tripod perfect (they have a setting for each!) I love the fact that I can set this up on a tripod in two different positions, for me this is a big plus as I shoot mountains in Iceland a lot. Rather than a big camera I go with a point and shoot because of the places I go to and I just don't like a lot of bulk. I found the door to be a bit tight, but the trick is to push in when clicking it shut and now no more issues. I suggest to keep silicon if you go into a water environment a lot, I did this on my past camera and no leaks, ever!

Bought this camera for wife. She loves it. Uses it mainly with grandkids. I use it for camping trips because it is really tough. Feels comfortable in our hands. Love the flip screen. Like the ability to use it as a camera or a action cam. Pictures have turned out great.
