I've been a buyer of Onkyo for over 20 years. I purchased a TX NR616 4 years ago and it continually had problems dropping sound when the type of signal changed. Sometimes I'd have to reset the unit to get sound back. I hoped the new NR646 would have solved this problem. When the NR616 completely died I purchased the NR646 and I'm having the same problems the sources have been changed over the years so it isn't the source. I would have gone to another amp, but Onkyo is the only one I've found in this price range that still has phono input. Would like to have as many options as I had with my old SR804 which is still chugging along, but lacks the number of HDMI connections I need.

If you have ever set up a surround sound from back in the day, you will absolutely love the mic the listens to each speaker and adjusts automatically. It was like close encounters with great sound being the end result. Purchased klipch speakers to accompany.

The Product Was A Great Purchase To Replace My Older ONKYO..Fast Setup And 4K Capability Was Fantastic Along With Plenty Of HDMI Slots..The Sound Was Equal To Any Higher And More $$$ Models. I highly Recommend This Receiver. You Will Not Be Disapointed

It was time to upgrade my father in laws system and we were actually looking at the TX-NR545, but when we walked in the TX-NR646 was on sale for the same price as the 545. So, no brainer picked this up and it is awesome. Easy to set up with on screen menu and automatic calibration with set up mic. This along with the upgraded Polk Audio speakers and new sub really rock.

Good receiver with lots of power. Using it with 2 zones. 1 in house with surround setup 2nd zone for outside pool speakers ...both using the wifi phone app with control of all components. Gets a little confusing sometimes switching components and sound .. but overall works good

Excellent sound quality. Easy set up. The product is working as expected.

Has all the wants and needs. AirPlay, wifi, Bluetooth,Internet radio, pretty good iOS app for remote power and volume. I wish there was a timeout feature. Reason is if you have it in a cabinet it can get hot but you can install temperature fans on top as well for less than $40.

Bought for my movie room. Not using Atmos - configured in a 7.1 arrangement. Sounds very good - better than my far more expensive Denon from a few years ago. OSD is a little basic looking, but the iPhone remote control app works well. Only minor complaint is the mic cable is a little short when you calibrate the system. Another few feet would be better.

I recently replaced my 15 year old Yamaha receiver with this Onkyo. My old Yamaha had dolby atmos as well, although I believe the technology has improved. Only criticism is that so many manufacturer's advertise peak wattage rather than sustainable wattage.

This unit was a tremendous value.. Easy setup lots of power.

If you want to play your old LP's the old fashion way, this is the receiver for you. Outstanding sound both TV, Movies, & Music.

This receiver has alot of options and the sound is good. I wish that it had google play music built in. I had to attach a chromcast to one of the HDMI to get that to work and it works ok. Sometimes it just stops playing my playlist and I'm not sure why. When using the Internet Radio the playlists never stop.

This is my 3rd surround sound system and is, by far, the simplest one I have owned. I am by no means a slouch when it comes to electronics, so while I was able to manage the other systems with relative ease, it was a complete blessing that this unit is so easy to use. One thing I like is the programming that you can do while features and options show up on your TV screen. The abundance of HDMI and USB ports mean that I will be able to expand my theater system for years to come. The user interface is to the point, containing few, if any, unnecessary steps. My prior experience with Onkyo comes from my teen years and assured me that I was getting a sound piece of electronics. I'm not disappointed.

This is the second Onkyo receiver I have purchased and so far it is a pretty good receiver with one issue. The Bluetooth will cut in and out at random times with nothing seeming to cause the issue. I turn off the devise and pair it again and the problem continues, if I turn off the receiver and pair them, problem solved till it decides to act up again. i have not tested out the Wifi at this time so that is still up in the air on how it works. Sound is good and it was easy to set up. My last Onkyo lasted me a decade, so I hope for this one will last me that long. If only I can get the bluetooth to stop cutting out this would be 5 stars.

I just replaced my Onkyo THX receiver with this one because I wanted to be able to use my 3-D dvd and 3-D TV. It was simple to set up. I didn't even have to reprogram my Harmony remote. Not sure why but it works perfect to. I used the supplied speaker set up system then tweaked it to our liking's. After I set it up and our 4 yr old came in from outside she looked around in the front room at all the speakers. She could hear sounds that she couldn't before. My wife and I noticed a tremendous difference. The sound quality is AWESOME !! Now our 7.1 works as designed. We're really impressed with the quality and probably won't be going to the Movie's anytime soon ( Maybe never again)

This receiver has plenty of inputs and is easy to set up. It is well designed and is a great upgrade from my 5.1 Onkyo. The Initial Setup is well designed and easy to follow, the system has performed flawlessly. I use most of the inputs and both zones on output. Using the wireless for XM and Pandora.

I'm very happy with this receiver! It's probably one of the easiest plug and play user friendly units I've set up. The video, sound and music played through this receiver is crystal clear.

I like to receive a really well I like the Bluetooth and the other options that it has. My only complaint is the way that they do the power ratings for the wattage these days they're backwards and untrue. The receiver needs more power that would be my only complaint.
