OK but needed up returning item
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an old Yamaha receiver that stopped working. It was OK but I was not happy with the sound. In the end, I bought a Sonos Playbar, Sub and 2 Play:1 speakers and love them. Simple to set up and it sounds great.

Thermal Protection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received the product and right out of the box it was defective. Would go right into Thermal Protection mode and shut off. Never plugged anything into it. BestBuy had no more in stock. I returned it and got my money back.

Difficult to integrate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the unit for a month now...works ok...but it was very difficult to get all my components to work with the system...the direction are worthless...unless you have some audio savy..I would recommend a friendly unit

good system for correct components
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seemed like this system would work but it would not connect with our LG home system. Our install guy said they stay away from Onkyo because of so many connection problems. Ok for other systems but not mine.

It could be a lot better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It sounds good but the interface is clunky. Its slow and you can't case video to the built in Chromecast. The other apps work but all I use is Pandora. The app is great.

Returned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an older Yamaha av receiver. I really was not happy with the sound and the complex install. I ended up going with Sonos and could not be happier.

Unreliable Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver about 3 years ago, and it has been a disaster ever since. Shortly before the 2-year warranty was over, it started having issues with the amp protective mode, so I sent it in for repair. An internal connection was fixed and the unit returned. The amp protective mode issue returned after 2 months, but when I sent it in the repair shop was unable to find the problem and returned it at my expense (total shipping costs to me for this and the previous warranty repair @ $100). Hard to believe Onkyo has no repair facilities in N. California. Anyway the receiver continues to go into amp protection mode or check speaker wire mode and shut down on a totally random basis ever since. I have done all the trouble shooting recommended by the repair shop and Onkyo. I have changed every speaker and speaker wire and still the problems persist. Onkyo has refused to step up and get this defective unit working. Bottom line: Receiver worked well for about 20 months and has been a frustrating, time wasting, expensive, disaster ever since. My repair shop has confirmed that the Onkyo brand is about the most unreliable one out there. The Onkyo prices are to good to be true.

Sound cuts out when receiver is turned on.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall good receiver. The only problem is the sound from the cable TV will cut out intermittently after turning on the receiver. If I change to a different input on the remote instead of the CBL/SAT and then return to the CBL/SAT input the sound works well. So everytime I turn it on I have to go to another input and then back to the CBL/SAT to get the sound to work properly. It is an annoyance.
