Recommended by the salesman in the store. This receiver has multiple inputs both HDMI and RCA. Also has input for a phono which most of the receivers now no longer have for the older turntables. Great sound

This is it this is one of the best receivers I have ever purchased the clarity and the ease-of-use is outstanding the controls are easy phlearn the remote is simple direction to my home theater was a cinch

I replaced an aging receiver and this is much easier to use with the multiple inputs we now have, AppleTV, Roku DVD and AirPlay. We really love it

This receiver was very easy to configure to an existing multi zone home theater room. The tutorial setup process was very easy to walk through. Sounds great and pushes out an excellent picture.

Setting up the speakers is so easy all you do is plug in the mic and the receiver does the rest. The Bluetooth is fantastic. It's nice to have the flexibility in a home system.

The receiver has a lot of functionality built-in, I was even able to use it without a TV well enough. The LCD on the front works really well as a navigable menu when you don't have a screen to display the video output. Has some internet radio services built-in as well as the ability to access media servers and read off USB sticks. Offers 7.1 surround or 5.1 w/ Atmos. I haven't yet used it with video output, so I can't comment on the 4k functionality. If the current quality of it is any indication, I expect no problems.

I upgraded to this receiver after getting a 4k/UHD TV and discovering my UHD player wouldn't pass through 4k video. Thus far it has been a solid performer. Easy setup and it is reliable so far. At the time I bought it, I bought two receivers - one for the setup upstairs and one for the basement. At the time this receiver was less than the TX-NR656 so I bought the 656 and this one (the TX-NR555) for upstairs since I didn't need some of the features. However at the time of this review (2/1/17) they are both the same price so I'd probably suggest you just buy the TX-NR656. My one wishlist item that basically no receivers have at the moment: a bluetooth transmitter to connect bluetooth headphones to it. Yes you can buy adapters. Yes, it has a bluetooth receiver to send audio from your phone to it. Oh yeah, I also wish I had waited for the darn sale seeing the price on it today as I write the review!

I had been shopping for a new receiver for my home theater set-up for months. My main limitation was price, but I had several requirements that meant that I needed some features that not all receivers have such as a grounded phono hook-up. I kept looking at Best Buy because I had bought my new TV there and was happy with the service and price. When I came across this Onkyo receiver that had what I needed at a price that I could afford, I jumped at the opportunity. I'm glad that I did. This product has lived up to my expectations which were high in view of other reviews I had read. For me, this was a great find.

This is my second Onkyo receiver in 20 yrs. only because I had to upgrade to HDMI's that my old one didn't have. Never had any problems out of the older model and I expect to get many more years out of the both of them now. When I had setup questions for my system, one call to Onkyo support was all I needed. Great product!

This receiver is great for the price. I have it driving a difinitive sound bar and its sounds awesome. Onkyo has a good app to control AirPlay and multi zones.

My base system is made up of 25 yr old high end equipment which I was loath to get rid of. The Onkyo knows people love their stuff and the 555 came loaded with grandfathered in RCA plugs for tons of old stuff. I'm still learning how to program the tuner but what stations I do have sound like I'm at the live concert. If you want to upgrade your sound along with your TV but don't want to lose the multi - thousands of bucks already invested, this is the unit for you. Onkyo - 980W 7.2-Ch. Had one of this years ago and was great,so I stead with this brand ,I wanted to ungraded to 4 k and I was blowing away on sound,would buy again thanks dave

This is an excellent receiver and love that I can stream music, connect via wifi and bluetooth and have all my hdmi connections in one place. Great value.

easy to install, lots of connections at a price point that does not break the bank

HDMI in/out works great, menu is simple to use, internet radio is sweet, supports HDMI audio return feature. only bad thing is that the component input only supports 480i/572i and thats it. If you want higher resultion support, have to go with a more expensive model.

This thing has tons of power. I love the dual zone capability. The wifi and bluetooth feature are great to control the receiver with a smart phone

This has decluttered my hdmi situation, provided great surround for my oversized living room. And I only have to use 1 remote now. So it's been a win.

I bought this receiver after comparing a few similar to it in price range, quality, and features. Overall I would say that this is built well, works as advertised, and transitions my equipment smoothly from one input to the next. This receiver stood out among based on the sale price and what I received compared to other products close to it. If you are looking for a great receiver for a great price I would highly recommend this one.

Very pleased with the avr. Gets plenty loud and very easy to set up. Just wish it had vtuner instead of tunein radio. Dolby atmos and dts-x .
