I got this for my daughter and tried to keep it simple. Easy setup, good sound field choices, Dolby Atmos, 4K and Bluetooth capabilities. Sounds good in her mid-sized living room.

It does what its supposed to do . Can play the Blu-ray through it and it sounds good . the best is that they have fixed the tuner so now it pulls in Radio . My old Onkyo TX-SR393 and my Pioneer VSX-430 did not no matter what type of antenna you used . On this receiver it would have been nice if it had the Ethernet cable port like the old one , Bluetooth is ok , but you have to us your phone , ipad..etc to listen to music . My one real complaint is , the lack of more treble and bass control , just does not have enough of it , or a loudness or subwoofer plus setting ....

The sound quality is amazing. Connection was somewhat easy to connect my other speaker to. I had to purchase some banana plugs for them to work together. The sound is amazing!

I purchased this as an open box item for $190. After some gift certificates, I paid even less...but since it was open box, I received no remote control. Luckily, I am using this on a desktop for a near field home theater in my office. This is an excellent system for a basic HTR. No built-in streaming, but connecting a laptop or tablet (either via mini plug-to-RCA or via bluetooth) solves this nicely. Power output is very respectable for the price. Sound is excellent for home theater applications. I have a larger Onkyo HTR with all the "bells and whistles" in a different room, and this smaller model compares very nicely. If "bang for the buck" is a major consideration for you, I highly recommend this model or any other Onkyo, especially if you can wait for the frequent sales on Onkyo HTRs. I have a Pioneer Elite with very high power, but it was also quite a bit more expensive. And, ultimately, if you care a lot about music, then you are better off getting a nice 2.1 stereo amplifier, anyway. HTRs generally just don't compete on pure music playback vs. 2.1 integrated stereo amplifiers. Bottom line: If you don't need streaming and can live with either 5.1 or Dolby Atmos 3.1.2 in a small-to-midsize room, then this is a great choice!

Won’t maintain ARC connection from TV

Firstly I am a longtime Onkyo owner. Now after almost 15 years decided to join the party and upgrade to HDMI switching and Bluetooth. Setup was straightforward and the sound was great from everything. Problems began when I tried to watch with my internal apps from TV. Even though ARC was enabled on my new Sony X90K and the Onkyo along with CEC I could not establish a connection. A new certified cable seemed to solve the problem but did not as it continued to drop the connection from my internal apps like Netflix. Called Onkyo and , though they tried, they also could not rectify the problem. Another issue is after pairing devices for BT it does not remember them as it’s supposed to. Very disappointed.

Love my audio receiver, Great for 5.1 or 5.2 surround sound. Very clean sound, using with Jamo Speaker set. As a bonus this has a nice little video upscaler built in. so i hooked up my Nintendo Switch to it and it makes the graphics look alot cleaner than just direct connect to my Vizio TV.

This Onkyo receiver replaced a much older Onkyo unit with no HDMI connections. I used the same speakers that I had with the old receiver but the difference is like night and day. At this price point, it offers the most bang for the buck.

This was a replacement for an aging Sony that had served me well, but was starting to have issues. This unit had the features I wanted, as well as plenty on HDMI hookups for all of my devices. The setup was easy, and it came with a microphone for surround calibration. The power is fabulous and the sound is great! Love this receiver!

great sound, easy controller to switch input source. Set up was very easy. Just what I was looking for in a 5.2 receiver. If you can and want to save money, get an open box one in excellent condition, just like new.

We hook this Onkyo up to our 15 year old KEF speakers and base unit… and the it sounds like the Sydney Opera House! Great buy if you only need 4 surrounds, a center, and a base unit. Make sure to get great quality speakers to really appreciate this receiver.

The Onkyo replaces a five year old Pioneer amplifier that was quite frankly, fantastic. That being said, we purchased a 65" Sony Bravia A8H OLED tv and found out that the Apple TV 4k signal wouldn't pass through the Pioneer Amp, only 1040 resolution. This forced us to buy an newer amp capable of the higher television bandwidth. We couldn't be happier. The Dolby Vision and 4K pass through to the television is fantastic. The surround sound and signal processing is actually better than the Pioneer ever was. The change is refreshing.

For my home theater setup (2 front speakers, 2 height speakers, center channel and sub) it does the job, and after the firmware update Dolby Atmos works and I can really hear the difference. I did have to play with the IntelliVolume settings to make the sound from my TV seem louder at a lower master volume level.

I am not a tech guy, and lack a lot of knowledge about all of this new technology. First let me say, this system was very easy to hook up. It practically walks you through the steps. It even goes through a speaker setup to ensure that you are getting the desired sound from each speaker in your setup. After all is said an done, I tested the system out with the ONLY movie designed to test out a surround system; “Saving Private Ryan”. In the very beginning of the film, the beach landing scene on D-Day...my dogs immediately left the safety of my living room lol. They thought we were under attack. Truly Amazing sound, like a virtual “war zone”. For the price, I would definitely recommend this receiver to anyone who is just starting out in the surround sound experience. Very good system.

Don't let price fool you. This "Entry Level" receiver has it all. The Zone B feature alone takes the value of this budget component to a level unmatched by ANY av receiver that's come out in the last 5 years. Sounds excellent and has every hi-tech feature one could want in 2020 with the exception of WiFi/ Network/ Airplay/ Chromecast support-- which all can be added with a multitude of cheap third party solutions (dongles, media streamer, etc.). Buy it if you can find it. You will not regret it.
