MY Sony DVD home theater receiver died on me so I was looking for a Lower end replacement. I have a 4K TV that this is hooked up to. Also purchased a new Blue Ray player. This unit is worth it cost. You can run your game console and other devices through it an with good speakers you will get sound out of it like your at the movies.

My wonderful 5-yr-old Sony amp bought the farm and I needed a new one. This Onkyo is pretty basic but just great for home theatre. I do miss the option of watching and listening two different things at once (e.g., 4K Nature streaming with my Mozart cds instead of the pseudo-new-age junk that is usually provided). But no problem. Otherwise it's plus-plus all the way with Atmos, 4K and 3D passthrough, very easy to set up and use. So I'm delighted. And as usual, Best Buy came through with a great deal. I, of course, will be back!

I'm just using it for sound so I can't speak to the video switching aspect. The audio is good and the unit itself looks okay. You have to turn the volume up high to get some good volume out (like 70), this seems high to me but I think it is just one of my idiosyncrasies. I like it to blast at half volume but it still is plenty loud at 70 and above. All in all I'm happy with it, it does what I need it to do, play surround sound for my movies.

Purchased this to replace an existing, different brand, home theater receiver. Kept my existing Klipsch speakers (L ,R, C and sub) for a 3.1 setup. Setup was very easy and the sound quality has been top notch so far. In my setup, this is the sound for my Sony X950H TV. Passing thru all of my video signals, Roku, 4k Blueray, and WII U with no issues. I really love that I click a button on the Roku remote and everything turns on and off I go. So far I am very happy with my purchase. If you're looking for a good value home theater receiver, give this a look.

I needed to replace my 9 yr old Onkyo monster receiver with something smaller that would fit in a shallow deep console. I bit the bullet and purchased this model for a mere 279.00. Very impressed as it actually sounded better than my old model. The new vocal option is perfect. I am running polk in wall speakers sub and center. The power is perfect for my smaller area of 12×19.

I've known this unit from previous purchases, It is very powerful and versatile. I bought this unit specifically because I wanted to connect my new smart flat screen tv with my 5 speaker surround with a subwoofer(Bose). Not all smart tv's have the same connections these days and my speaker system was 7 years old so I needed the same ability to connect the tv to the receiver and then to the speakers. This influenced my choice of tv brand and the new models of receivers. Now they all match and I can hear the deep sounds of the lowest pipe organ notes instead of a weird rattle from the back of the tv. Life is good again.

Good sound, good features, good quality. I like this unit a lot and it works well for our family. There is one gotcha though ... Dolby Vision pass-through. If you are an Apple TV 4K user or someone looking for Dolby Vision from your fancy Blu-ray to player, you’ll be disappointed. It DOES handle other HDR formats though so consider your use case.

This is the second Onkyo receiver I have purchased. I absolutely love all of the outputs. We like to connect all the things to the TV! Sound quality is amazing. We actually have this one set up with our outdoor speakers by the pool. Our backyard is definitely the place to be this summer.

I bought this receiver a week ago. I upgraded from a Pioneer. My rating IS NOT based on the quality but simply on setup. You get no manual with the product and have to go online (which is a pain to start with) and read everything. There are no illustrations what so ever. It just should not be this hard. I get things scrolling across the receiver that I cant get rid of, the intelivolume I cant get into to set up and to do the setup with the microphone.....Don't even get me started on that. Long to short......I have to have the Geek Squad come in now and set it all up for me AND pay MORE MONEY on top of what I already did. Like I said though........What I do have set up IT SOUNDS AMAZING.

I just upgraded our living room setup by adding a new LG OLED TV. After that I got a couple of nasty surprises about my old receiver, a Pioneer VSX-824. First was that it was not HDCP 2.2 capable, so while it worked in 1080P and even 4K SDR, it couldn't deal with HDR. Second was that while I could pass the audio from streamed content on TV back to the old receiver via ARC, it had to be PCM, because if I tried to pass bitsteamed audio, the receiver started putting out a clicking sound along with the audio. To correct both issues, I got the Onkyo TX-SR393, as it was affordable, and supported all of the new audio formats. It is a big piece of equipment, about normal for AV receivers. It doesn't do more than 5.2 channel configuration, but I was planning to stay at 5.1, that was not an issue for me. What pleasantly surprised me was the room equalization I was able to achieve (after a couple of tries) with the included setup microphone. The balanced setup sounds so much more alive now. The receiver features all the necessary audio features I wanted, but eliminates most of the extra bells and whistles to keep the price low. I like that.

Easy to setup and has excellent sound quality. But I personally feel that any electronic item that has an hdmi port should at least come with an hdmi plug. It’s ridiculous to have to buy accessories with purchases of this cost. Just greed on the part of the manufacture.

I was looking for a good CD player where I could listen to complete operas or to entertainment music CDs at random. The options offered on that model are very satisfying for any use and I am completely satisfied with the sound quality. This is a good Best Buy!!!

Great receiver for the beginner. Setup was super easy and the receiver works great for our 5.1 setup. We don't have a second woofer but this 5.2 was cheaper than a 5.1. Dolby Atmos definitely works with the proper thing playing.
