the Onkyo receiver is loud and Powerful Great Sound. if you want true theater sound quality the Onkyo this is it. I had a Sony receiver before which was really good but the Onkyo blows it away. I have a high-end TV and Blu-ray player and with this Onkyo receiver is a great system I would recommend it to anybody. specially for the price you can't beat the sound quality if you're watching DVD Blu-ray or even 3D DVD Blu-ray sound quality is excellent.

I didn’t find anything wrong with it. I enjoyed it for a week until I realized I couldn’t use it for full Atmos. Ended up with RZ-920 which I’m extremely happy with!!

Took a Sony back to get this unit. Tons of power and easy setup process. Not really complaints but advice. I bought this to have zone B for my outdoor speakers so I could have matching audio in my living room and outside while watching football. Zone B can only receive analog signals. Once I figured this out I had Directv send me an analog adapter out of the back of my cable box. Works great!

Good AVR, but a few issues with LG OLED tv...

This receiver sounds great, and has lots of options, but I have a few issues with it. I also purchased an LG OLEDB7A, and LG has a habit of updating their firmware to a version of Dolby Vision that the Onkyo can't deal with, so this receiver displays a notice EVERY TIME I POWER UP telling me this. Apparently Pioneer also has this issue, but most other AVR do not. It's nice that it can compensate for audio sync issues that LG has. It often makes a clicking noise like I have changed inputs when I have not. I do like the large number of HDMI inputs, and how configurable they are, though I wish the manual explained the options better - I am still not sure which audio setting is best for what mode. The interface is very plain but does the job. Overall I would spend a few hundred more for a nicer model, but it's very good for its price point.

I find this tuner/receiver to be a little easier to operate than older models from Onkyo I have owned. The only complaint I've had so far is the dual zone activity button on the remote. Its like trying to punch in a code for mortal combat on a Nintendo or Sega from the 90's. Too many sequences for a simple switch to zones. Other than that this thing puts out quality sound, runs bluetooth operations nicely, and has handled everything I've thrown at it.

my old one doesn't do 4K, so it was time to upgrade. I found this one in the open box area and it has been just fine. I do have a problem trying to get my digital phono player to work thru it. I've only had it a month and will have to do a little more research on the hook up. Set up was very easy for all the other devises. Speaker setup was easy with the mic that comes with it. I do have a 5.2.1 speaker system.

    Upgrading to HDMI 2.2?

Like a lot of folk’s receivers, my older Onkyo HT-RC460 won’t pass through 4k video to my UHD monitor, this TX-NR777 does so and is the reason for my purchase. Very similar in every way to the RC460 with basically the same inputs and power per channel, processes all the codecs nicely. I only use the 5.1 speaker setup with my Klipsch 4.2’s fronts, Klipsch center and Polk surrounds, plan to add the 2 “Height” speakers in the near future to get the 7.2 setup going and enjoy the Dolby Atmos codec. I wish the receiver was a bit more intuitive, lacks the ability to rename sources over 10 characters long, instead of generic “cbl/sat”, I prefer renaming to actual names of my devices. I have a “Channel Master” receiver, forget about renaming the source that name. I do understand why though, the front display is limited, can only be so wide. There is plenty of inputs, 7 HDMI - 6 rear and 1 front, 2 Optical-In for audio and plenty RCA’s. Has wireless capabilities and Bluetooth, use neither, prefer wired, nice option to have though. Over-all a really worthy upgrade!

So far, I love this Onkyo receiver. At the moment, I'm only using it as a 5.1 surround sound but I plan on expanding my speaker collection. The only complain I have so far is when I'm using the Pandora app, it will stop in the middle of a song like its buffering. Other than that, I love it.

I was skeptical about a new receiver done my Yamaha was only 4 years old, but it would not pass 4k. Something was wrong... Picked up this open box at BB, better deal than eBay! Kicks butt easy setup even Google home can play through receiver. Enough power to rock! Video awesome. So happy I took the plunge and bought it!

The features and ease of use you are getting are sweet for the price. The sound quality is great albeit on the warm side. If you are looking for a great AVR for maybe a living room set up, this is it. It even offers 5.2.2 atmos, directly powered.
