I recently purchased the Onkyo NR787 so I could upgrade to 5.2.4 atmos, and there was a notable improvement from the NR555 that I upgraded from. Has plenty of power to run Klipsch RP-280FA, the RP450C center channel, RP-160M surrounds, and a set of RP-140SA rear atmos channels at reference levels. Good overall buy.

This receiver provides 5.2.4 immersive audi capability, tons of HDMI inputs, two HDMI outputs, and great sound. This volume (pun intended) of features for the price is unheard of! Currently running Atmos and DTS:X through this and love it for both.

This unit is replacing my older denon 7.2 system and I have to say I absolutely love it. Very easy set up and the sound quality is just amazing. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get serious about having a surround sound system.

Easy setup and very nice sound. Like the ability to bi-amp main stereo speakers and still run a 7.2 setup. As long as this unit holds up it’s a bargain for a 9.2, 7.2.2, or 5.2.4 capable receiver that has all of the newest 4K/hdr and audio technology.

Works as described. Operation is intuitive and the downloaded instructions will get you through anything. Intigrated my antique VCR with no problem. Sound is fantastic. Speaker level setting with a test mic is a nice addition

Very satisfied. This model provided the greatest number of capabilities in comparison shopping with all the major brands; nothing came close for the price. Satisfied my need for two zones with great fidelity of sound and ease of use.

I replaced an Onkyo TX-NR646 7.2 channel receiver with this 9.2 model. The HDMI ports were going bad on the 646 and I just wanted to have all my sources connected. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this 787 model improved the audio tremendously. It drives my speakers better, especially the sub. I have a 5.1 setup and the 646 was mushy by comparison. Especially for music, the instruments weren't nearly as distinct as with this 787. Everything blends well yet is easier to discern. Surround for movies is definitely better too. It turned out to be an outstanding upgrade that has me loving my entertainment center again.

I was looking for a 5.2.4 ( 9-Channel ) receiver to upgrade my Pioneer 7 channel. This is a nice sounding unit. Pleased with it's performance. It consumes 750 watts of power and runs a little warm, but not too hot.

This is the best AVR I have purchased to date. I have purchased Pioneer Yamaha Sony and this one. This by far is more superior especially with 9.2. I am running 9.1 I don't have a second subwoofer but I am super happy. Well worth it. Onkyo pushes out frequent updates. Only bad thing it does not support Alexa multiroom support. At least not yet. Setup was pretty easy and flawless. Dolby Atmos is awesome. 4k passthrough is really good and ARC is a plus with my 4k TV. This makes viewing experience very enjoyable. I would buy this again.

Purchased this model to replace my 4-year-old Sony STR-DN1040. That was a great receiver, but couldn't do Dolby Atmos, and also could not pass through HDCP 2.2 4K content, so I got this bad boy as preparation for getting a 4K TV in the near future. Because I still only have it hooked up to a 1080p set, I can't comment on it's 4K performance, but I expect it would be fine based on other reviews I have read. I have the receiver set up in a 7.1 + 2 configuration, with the +2 being the Zone 3 speakers, which I wanted because my basement is split into 2 areas (entertainment room and game room) and I wanted to be able to turn on and off the speakers to the game room. This configuration works fine, but the effort to activate Zone 3 requires one of two things: 1) Go up to the receiver and press the Zone 3 button to turn them on, and then make sure the source is selected, or 2) Fiddle with the remote, which doesn't have enough buttons, to get the remote to control Zone 3 and not the primary Main zone. To control either Zone 2 or 3 with the remote, you have to hold down one button while also pressing the Zone button of your choice. To switch back, you have to go through a similar procedure. Couldn't Onkyo just have added a few more buttons to the remote? Also, because of the wonky remote, it is difficult with program any of that functionality into a universal remote like Harmony without some serious programming. Otherwise, I like everything else about the receiver so far.

This receiver is an unbelievable value at under $700 for a 9.2 channel. The ability to wire it for 4 Atmos channels is something that has not been seen at this price point! Great value.

This is the one you want. It has everything you need. The salesman at BestBuy talked me into a Dennon it was a big mistake the sound was weak. I returned the item and purchased this one and like I originally thought this is the best one for music and home theater.

This is not an audiophiles box! That out of the way, it is about the best bang for the buck out there. 9.2 Atmos capable or it can be used as a 3 zone AV unit.

This receiver has all the features you need for your home theater set up. Set up couldn't be easier and the in room analysis provided instant improvement from my 4 year old Pioneer Elite. This also has the ability to grow with your needs for 4k. My bass really rumbles too, finally. You can pay more, but you won't get more features.
