I purchased this unit after first having the Denon AVR1295W. I changed the Denon out for this unit due to this one having more power. Let me just say that the difference was immediate with the same speakers and all. It has nice clean highs/lows and plenty of power to spare on my 8ohms speakers. The setup was very simple going through the menu and straightforward and for all the features you get for the money, this unit has a fantastic price. You're getting a 9.2 receiver and no other receiver with this many channels is available for this price. It passes 4k HDR/Dolby Vision content without any hiccups and supports Dolby Atmos, DTS X and all the major formats. If there were a negative I have for this unit, then it would be the fact that you have to press the Info button on the remote to see what digital audio format is coming into the receiver. Otherwise, it only shows the source on the display. This may not be a big deal for some but I like for the format of the audio from the source to show instead of the source and I found no way to change this in the settings. This is my only negative and for most, I'm sure this just comes down to a personal preference. The bottom line is this, you're getting a nice all around receiver for the money with all the latest audio formats supported, 4k HDR/Dolby Vision passthrough and 9.2 channels. (Subwoofer preout is the same signal split between two outputs if you want to do 9.2) I haven't seen these amount of features for the price.

I got speakers throughout the house. I talked to people at Best buy and they suggested based on the number of speakers and zones that i should go with Onkyo 9.2 instead of the 7 or the 5. The receiver is easy to deal with. Has an app for your phone as well and you can control the zones with your phone. So i am able to turn on the speakers from my bedroom while the receiver is in the living room. The only down side is that this receiver does not work multi room with Comcast. Only when the line is directly attached to it, that zone will show the tv. Other rooms can only be used as Bluetooth, air play, chromcast and so on. that's the only negative thing about this receiver.

Looked at the expensive Denon, Sony, etc and having 9.2 channels, Dolbyvision and Atmos this unit is a deal. Like that it works with 4-8 ohm speakers without any problems. Very pleased.

I know it’s a low middle end receiver but it has all the bells and whistles I’m looking for. It set up easy and it sounds good. No issues at all so far yet but I just got it yesterday.

Great price point for 9.2 and all of the features that it has with it. The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars and I'm sure that this will be fixed on a future firmware update by either Apple or Onkyo is that it doesn't play Dolby Vision or Atmos through Apple 4K boxes right now. It did right before a firmware update in March and since that a fix hasn't come. Atmos and Vision work directly from your TV or XBOX or any other sources so it's just an issue right now between Apple and Onkyo which I'm sure will be fixed soon enough. Besides that it is brilliant.
