Great deal on phone service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been an IP phone user for awhile but love how much cheaper this is per month than my previous carrier. Set up was pretty easy, it took me longer because I kept my old phone number but I've had it running for several months now & no complaints. The online web tools are great!

ooma Telo VoIP Home Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe that this is the way home telephone service is going. It took about 3 weeks for my existing number to be transferred from Time Warner to Ooma, but it was done on the day promised and the only thing I had to do was move the phone line from the back of the Time Warner cable modem to the back of the Ooma Telo. After about 15 seconds I was connected to the Ooma service. Now I have no monthly home phone bills. The sound quality is equal to or better than the phone service via Time Warner Digital phone, and I like the oomaaaaa dial tone.

Great Service! Easy Setup!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After several years of giving away money for home phone service, I decided to try out Ooma. It was recommended by a coworker but I was hesitant to try it. It was extremely easy to setup and I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. My only gripe is the extra cost involved in porting over your old number. Other than that, I'm happy.

Great!! I couldn't believe how much we are saving.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been researching this product for months and was skeptical that it would truly work. We finally decided to give it a try and it has been almost 2 months. This works great! We were able to keep our same phone number. We called our old phone company to cancel our phone service to find out that our bundled bill with them that was supposed to give us a discount for getting cable, phone and internet will not be about $50 less without phone service. Our first month of Ooma service was $3.47!!! What a savings!!!! I have already bought a box for my father also and I would recommend this to anyone I know that wants to save money on their home phone service. I did have to call customer service twice but I had no problem getting through, short wait time to reach someone and my problems were solved quickly. My problems were: 1. First attempt to port didn't go through successful and I had to call to see why. (Could have been due to my phone company not wanting to lose my service.LOL) Also, I decided to change my second line phone number to a more local number since I didn't see a local number when I initially set up my ooma. They were nice enough to change my number at no charge. (Usual fee is about $20-30) 2. I lost my second phone line once the port was completed. They quickly added it back to my account within minutes.

Best free phone sevice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm glad I decided to buy after reading reviews, cut cable phone off and this will be all free after 5 months.Went online to setup Ooma account,I picked a new phone number, connected cat.5 cable that came with it to my router, connected cordless phone, powered up Ooma box let it update for about 10-15 mins., then all the blue lights came on, made a phone call with no problem and its as clear as cable. Three weeks running without a problem. Love the blues lights lol.

Operator error
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally got system to work properly i.e. calls dropped where either I couldn't hear caller or caller couldn't hear me. Re-routed the device and have not had a problem since. Call quality is good, low level customer support is good, could never get through to higher level if needed. Also could not port my number, when they tried for some reason I could call out but no one could call in, so they gave me a new number and things work well.

Great phone system, deffenitly worth the money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been working great, only had it about a week but zero complaints, saves me $35 a month! Easy to set up. You can also hook it up to your house wiring so that you can use any phone in your house (have to discount the phone company wiring for it to work.)

Good service but beware of unreliable hardware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had two Ooma telo boxes. Both have had failure of the built-in speaker. The speaker is important for use of the voicemail feature. There are other ways to hear your voicemail - use the phone or internet, but the easiest is to use the unit itself. The unit is built for this with touchpad buttons on the top and initially worked well. The first Ooma telo failed after about 6 months with complete loss of sound through its built-in speaker and was replaced under warranty. Unfortunately the second telo failed in the same way but now was past the 1 year warranty period. After multiple calls to customer service, the only recommendation was to buy a new unit. Needless to say, after two failures in a row, I was not about to lay out another $250 for one of these unreliable units. No other lower cost option (such as repair) was offered by the company. The unit still works to provide VOIP service, but with its additional answering machine functionality gone, I have canceled my $100/yr "premier" service. I will continue with the basic service for now but am keeping my eyes open for other options.

Great Device,

Wish I had bought it sooner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took me about 30 minutes to have it completely setup. I tested it with the temporary number that I chose for a couple days and then requested to have my number ported. My number was ported in 9 days. Got my first monthly bill for $3.47 I will make back the $200 for the unit and $40 for porting my number in 5 months and then be saving $50 a month. Thank you Ooma!!! Bye, Bye Phone company

Great device, no more monthly phone bills!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is good. Most important feature for me is that it works with my self-installed SkyLink AD-4335 home alarm system to dial my cell phone if alarm is triggered. That was my concern before i got it but now I can say that it works with my home alarm. So this way you can save not only on your phone bill but also on your security monitoring bill which in my case are 0.00 plus tax at the moment :)

Nice option for replacing landline
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with many VOIP systems, there are some characteristics that just can't match the reliability of the old landline. Sometimes there is enough of a time delay between the two ends of the conversation that it becomes annoying. Also, I have experienced a small number of dropped calls. However, once you get over the up front costs, the almost free monthly phone bill is nice. Ooma is a valid replacement for a landline. The faster your internet connection, the better this will perform. I had less performance issues when using a cable modem versus DSL.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using Ooma for over a year now. I used used to pay about $50 per month for my landline. So $250 once and done - you can't beat it. I recently recommended Ooma to two friends. Both bought it, and now we all think it's great. No problems at all. The voice quality is fanastic with Comcast internet. I would recommend a UPS power supply for electrical outages though.

Love the Telo - Features we can finally use!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After looking at all the math, the Ooma Telo is competitive with other VoIP providers but puts services like Vonage behind the times (Vonage even incorrectly lists my city in the wrong area code!). After setting up my Telo and activating the features I began to realize there are some features I can't live without. First is the integration with my existing home telephone line. The Telo takes incoming calls from both VoIP and POTS and routes them appropriately. Long distance calls are automatically sent via VoIP while local go out over POTS. Second, the community blacklst. I can't say enough about this one. Anonymous Call Rejection from the phone company has serious limitations. Community blacklists and personal blacklists make virtually every call someone I want to talk to. Third, the instant second line (available when the handsets are out) will be a godsend to my busy household. I can even have my 2nd included number ring just one of the handsets (assuming you keep premier after the free trial). So, costs being about the same for the first year, I can't see any reason why anyone would choose anything else. And I can't forget once my handsets arrive, I can get rid of my existing cordless phone system... definitely the greener way to go.
