Good case, not so good holster

The case fits great and provides good protection. The holster has small tabs that will break off and the phone will fall out of the case. Mine did and chipped the screen. They should make the clips the same as the holster for the iphone.

Well never used an outerbox before I was a tech 21 guy. I purchased this case because I liked the upper and lower lip protection that it had. I tried others and I didn't like it
I drop my phone almost 2-3 times a day and still looks new thnks to this case.

I have used the OtterBox before on my last phone and have no complaints! My phone was almost 5 years old when I got my new phone and looks brand new. This OtterBox is a bit sleeker looking and I love the blue color!

I really wanted to like this item -- the case is solid and well constructed, and there are even silicone rubber tabs on the case which protect the phone's ports (e.g., headphone jack) against moisture. However, the belt-clip holster is a different matter, and -- in my opinion -- has a fatal design flaw: I agree with other reviewers that the phone is not adequately and securely locked into the holster. I stopped using this item when -- while quietly eating dinner in a restaurant, I heard a faint clatter, and looked down to see that my new Galaxy S8 had -- for no apparent reason -- popped out of the holster, landing on a hard floor. (Had I not been paying attention, I might have even missed this completely!) Having read other reviews, I was very worried about this possibility and had taken great care to ensure that my phone was "locked in" to the holster.
The problem is that the phone is held into the holster at two corners, and a tiny "claw" or "teeth" fit into a small, shallow "groove" to lock the phone in place. (See photo.) Two tiny plastic teeth engaging into a plastic groove (only about 0.5mm deep) is the *only* thing preventing your expensive phone from popping out, and -- as I found out -- it apparently takes almost no provocation to eject the phone. I'm not willing to wager my $600 phone against this chance, and instead I switched to a Turtleback leather holster which completely encloses the phone.

Otterbox has been a standard in rugged cases for years. This has enough rubber to be grippy and absorb impacts better than many newer "off brand" knock offs. Otterbox is no longer the only quality case on the market but they still make a better product than most of their competitors, and when it's on sale the price is often the same.
This iteration does not have a built in screen protector, and that is probably fine. I am one of the people who removed the screen protector from Otterbox Defender cases because they suck compared to glass or even most plastic stand alone covers.
The case is as thin as it can be and still offer protection. I wouldn't mind if the sides were raised a bit to offer protection for the screen face, but that would limit screen edge functionality.
The holster is not super on this defender case, it seems too easy to for the phone to pop out and I don't trust it. Buy I rarely used the holster anyway.
I paid a little more than twenty bucks for this case which is a great deal. Full retail is too much and I wouldn't pay more than thirty for it.

I have always used outer box cases for my phones and have had great success. They are great products. Love their customer service as well. However, I must note that with this latest case for the note 8, they missed the bar a bit. The case itself feels like really good quality. Dropped my phone once already and it survived. It does add some bulk to the already big note 8, but feels solid and secure as always. I wish they would have made the edges a bit more protruded as to protect the screen more on the sides in case of it being dropped. I feel the screen is too exposed on the sides. I feel it needs to be more like the top edges. Also on the defender model the earphone and charging flaps are difficult to open and are in reverse position than how they are in the commuter series. I feel it was easier to open in the commuter series than the defender series. Also the flap opening makes our more difficult to charge in this position than how the commuter has it. Over all i like the way the commuter series fits/ feels more than the defender, but do enjoy the holster on this version. If you don't mind the bulk get this series, otherwise go with the commuter. The holster could also have a cut out for the camera. Many times i have taken my phone out while it's attached to the holster and wanted to take a picture. If it had an opening on the bank it would be great. Easily doable as there is room for that opening. I may do it myself and modify my holster. Lastly, i wish it did include the screen protector as the ones in the past have done. Now they sell it separately. Even if it cost a bit more. I don't like to know i have to buy more things. Doesn't feel complete to me. Also, the opening to the stylus is wide open. Feels as if the case may crack there if dropped on that corner. Again, the commuter series does s better job in that area as well. It adds a divider between the speaker and the stylus making it seem more durable. I think this may be a weak point in the defender series. So overall, great case, but could be a tad better in design.

We recently bought 3 Samsung Galaxy S8 phones on sale and are very happy with our purchase and with the help we received in the store. They perform well. Sizewise, they fit easily in a pocket or purse. The battery charges within an hour or so, and holds a charge well compared to my old phone. I like the battery use conservation features on the phone which seem to make a difference in how long I can go between charges. The color and photo quality are great and the phone is easy to use, even for the seniors in our household. Tom was helpful and patient while trouble-shooting some software issues, transferring files, and getting things set up to our liking.

I have always purchased the Defender series cases for my phones because they have always been rock solid. This particular iteration is not quite on par compared to the level of protection offered in the past. Some of that stems from the design of the phone itself (with its curve-edged screen) and part of that comes from an attempt to not be quite as bulky (I guess enough people complained about about putting their super-sleek thin phone in a case that is three times its size).
All-in-all, Otterbox did do a decent (but not perfect) job of a compromise solution, and it is still offers some of the best protection available for the S8.
As you've already read a million times, there is no screen cover included. The curve of the screen's edges make the usual Otterbox screen cover less than useless, so this isn't too big of an issue (other than the fact that you are still paying the same price for less protection). The curve of the screen also led Otterbox to lower the rim around the edge of the phone. This is good, because it doesn't obscure the screen, but it is also bad because it leaves the screen just that much more exposed to possible impacts.
The last thing that bears mentioning, and you may have already read this numerous times as well, is that the holster/belt-clip does not clamp onto the phone nearly as securely as it has in the past. I don't know if maybe they were trying to make it easier to remove the phone from the holster, but it comes out easily... way too easily. It is no surprise that I have read complaints about people's phones falling out of their holsters. This is a potential problem to be sure.

I purchased this case the same day I purchased my new Samsung S8 phone. I wanted a case that wouldn't get scratched and look terrible in a few months. This case looks great and has a nice feel in my hand. The 2 tone color is attractive and it wipes clean without having to take the case off of the phone. There are 2 "plugs" that cover the charging port and headset port so they stay dirt free.
It's a heavy duty plastic with a rubbery feel. It doesn't scratch and protects my phone. Perfect!

I do not like to carry my phone in my pocket, so I needed a protective cover with a belt holster. This OtterBox cover has been great so far. The cover protects the phone very well and it is held securely in the belt holster. The rubber feel of the protective cover also makes holding and holding onto the phone very easy. It is not slippery. Very happy with this case/holster.

I Love this case . It is a great price for the high quality. It keeps my phone safe. It's not slippery, so I haven't dropped it once. If you do drop it, the screen will not hit the ground because the case is built up on both ends so the case would hit the ground instead of your screen . My family all got these cases for our new phones & we're all really happy with them.

I love the Samsung Galaxy S8 phone and want to protect it. I purchased the Otterbox case for it. I always buy a case for my cell phones. This Otterbox is fantastic. It isn’t bulky at all like many of the previous Otterbox cases I’ve used or seen. It is reasonably sleek, good looking, nice to the touch and, most importantly, protects the phone very well.

I purchased the Otter Box Defender Series in the store and the black case was on sale so that was a plus. It was easy to place the phone in the case. The case does an excellent job protecting the phone. It also comes with an attachment so you can secure the phone to your waist with ease. I would definitely purchase it again.

I've been using this for about two weeks on my new S8. Works pretty well.
Pro's
# It fits very well.
# scratch resistant
# some extra screen protection with the top and bottom edges protruding up from the screen
Con's
# The rubber on the bottom edge has started to come away from the plastic cover, where the dust cover is for the battery chartering port.
