||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The concept of the ring great. Unfortunately, I had to return it. A technological ring!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for something small and discreet to keep track of your health, fitness, sleep and energy, then this Oura ring is right up your alley! The Oura Ring is a membership service that has given me a whole to way to look at my personal health. It has sensors in the ring that track all types of things such as heart rate, activity levels, sleep rhythms, alertness and readiness, meal logging, and more. It even has an explore mode that plays meditation, breathing exercises, and sleep relaxation help audio. The ring is very easy to set up and get using. It comes with a unique ring charging base, and a nice usb-c cable to plug into it. It does not come with the wall plug end. The ring only fits onto the charger one way and will light up once seated on the stand. It charges fairly quickly, and the battery will stay charged for multiple days. I have been able to wear my ring for just over 5 days from full before it died on me. It can also send a notification to your phone to let you know when it is time to charge. You do have to wear the ring a specific way on your finger, so the sensors line up right. There is a little line on one side that you turn the ring so that it is on the same side as your palm. The ring is super comfortable and this specific ring has a ceramic outer shell. It is very easy to keep clean, and is not easy to scratch up. The ring is advertised to be completely water resistant up to 7m, so that you can wear the ring for everything you do like when I wash dishes, take showers, go swimming, etc. It is a completely active ring and has performed very well for me in wet conditions. I just make sure to dry it off and put it back on just like I would my wedding ring. I have been able to utilize every aspect of what this ring offers except the blood glucose level. For that you need a separate device called a stelo sensor. You can track the results of the stelo sensor within the Oura app. I have been thoroughly impressed with this ring overall, even compared to a smart watch counterpart. I find it quite more enjoyable to wear a ring, than a bulky smartwatch to track my fitness. The sleep trends has been the most helpful for me as it helps me track how long I actually slept, how long I was in REM sleep, tracks sleep apnea symptoms, and more. The meal tracking has been very helpful as well as to lay out my whole diet and how it plays into my overall health and fitness. The meditation has been extremely helpful as well and you can also pick from a list of soundscapes to use while the meditation voice is playing. I find it very relaxing. Overall I would recommend this Oura ring to everyone. It has so many benefits and tracks so many different things to help with your health journey. Absolutely fantastic ring!

What A Life-Changer!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UNPACKING In a sense, it was like opening a pirate’s treasure chest — because inside was a jewel. As I unpacked it, I was taken aback by the beauty of the midnight blue ceramic finish. It seemed to change colors right before my eyes, depending on how the light struck it. It was as smooth as buttered glass. I felt like Bilbo must have felt when he first picked up The Ring — there was an allure about it, a subtle irresistible beckoning to put it on. The inner band gleams like fine silver, and the sensors catch the light like tiny gemstones. The union of that deep blue ceramic with the polished stainless interior is simply a sight to behold. The setup was amazingly simple — and I don’t use that word lightly. Nothing out of the ordinary, no fuss or frustration. A quick download of the Oura app, a few straightforward steps, and within minutes it was ready to go. That marriage between the ring and the app forms a kind of digital library filled with meaningful information: sleep scores, activity levels, oxygen saturation, calories burned, live heart rate, temperature variations, and exercise tracking. It’s a treasure trove of insight that makes it nearly impossible not to understand how to improve your health and fitness. The app itself is equally impressive. It presents complex data in clearly defined, down-to-earth terms. Even someone entirely new to the world of fitness can observe, understand, and act on what they see. It offers useful insights, meaningful benchmarks, and tracks details often overlooked on the journey toward better health. I love the way it keeps everything organized, presenting the data in ways that can truly lay the foundation for lifestyle changes — the kind that almost guarantee a longer, healthier life. LIVING WITH THE RING Once the novelty wore off — or rather, settled into appreciation — I began to notice something remarkable. The Oura Ring doesn’t feel like technology. It doesn’t announce itself or demand attention. It simply becomes part of you. I wore it through full days of work, exercise, and rest. The comfort was exceptional. Unlike wrist trackers that tug or pinch or remind you they’re there, the ring sits so naturally on the hand that I often forgot I was wearing it at all. Even during yard work, when I’d normally expect grit or discomfort, the ring held steady — never intrusive, never awkward. At night, it performed beautifully. While I slept, it quietly observed the rhythms of my body — heart rate, oxygen levels, temperature, movement — and by morning, it presented a detailed portrait of my night’s rest. Not just numbers, but a narrative: how long I spent in each sleep stage, how efficiently I rested, and what that meant for the day ahead. There’s a kind of elegance in how it merges science with simplicity. It doesn’t lecture, it teaches. I found myself checking the readiness score each morning, not out of obsession, but out of genuine curiosity. It felt like the ring and I were in conversation — a daily dialogue about balance, recovery, and the gentle art of listening to one’s own body. Over the next few days, patterns began to emerge. The nights I pushed myself too hard at the gym, the Oura knew. The mornings after a quiet evening in the yard, it reflected calm and recovery. It didn’t scold or praise; it simply showed me myself. And that, I think, is where its true value lies. The Oura Ring doesn’t try to make you someone else — it helps you become more aware of the person you already are. THE PRACTICAL AND THE PROFOUND After a full week of living with the Oura Ring, I can say this much: it’s not just a gadget. It’s a companion — one that whispers rather than shouts. Battery life has been excellent. I can go several days without charging, and when I do, the charge time is short enough that it never feels like a chore. The app syncs seamlessly every time, without hiccups or dropped connections — something that’s surprisingly rare in this age of “smart” devices. The only mild irritations, if they can even be called that, are minor. There’s the subscription cost, of course, and the realization that the battery is sealed within the ring, never meant to be replaced. But these are details, not deal-breakers. They pale beside the overall experience. What impresses me most is how quietly intelligent it all feels. There are no flashing screens or endless buzzes, no need to scroll or swipe or chase the next metric. It simply gathers, learns, and reports — all while maintaining an elegant dignity. It’s rare to find technology that encourages stillness. The Oura Ring does. It invites awareness rather than anxiety. It gives feedback, not commands. And for someone like me — a 68-year-old man who’s lived long enough to know that simpler often means better — that balance matters. The midnight blue ceramic still catches me off guard sometimes. In the sunlight, it glows with quiet confidence; in the evening, it deepens into shadow, like something ancient and wise. I suppose that’s fitting. It’s a ring that measures the most modern of data but does so with the timeless grace of something that could have come from an age of myth. So, did I do good? Yes. I did real good. This little ring has earned its place — not as another gadget to charge and forget, but as a small, beautiful reminder to listen. To the body. To the rhythm of the day. To the simple miracle of being alive. There is no question as to whether I will recommend this ring to my friends/family or not, because I most certainly will be. I never imagined how a ring could have such an impact on my daily life, but the Oura Ring 4? It most certainly has made a difference. Thank you Oura for a product that is a life changer!!

Oura Ring Opens a World of Health Information
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oura - Ring 4 Ceramic - Smart Ring The Oura Ring 4 ceramic color choices are: Midnight, Tide, and Petal. I chose the color Cloud for its ability to be neutral with all palette colors. Be sure and take your time and find the right fit for your ring by taking advantage of the ring-sizing kit. The ring sizes are from 4-15 with no half sizes. It is recommended that you use one of the three middle fingers to wear your ring since they offer the best skin contact for the ring. I started out by putting my ring on my ring finger but during the night it would spin around. The literature states that the ring can turn up to 30 degrees on the finger and still get readings, I decided to put it on the preferred index finger for the best accuracy. The company offered a free ceramic polishing pad, and I took advantage of that offer. The battery life statistics show the Oura ring lasts between five (5) and eight (8) days. I never concerned myself with how many days the battery would last since my routine is to charge it while I am taking my morning bath. It takes about 20 minutes, and the app on my phone notifies me when it is fully charged. The app is available for iOS or Android. I have an iPhone and the process to download the app and opt to pay a monthly/yearly fee to access all resources and insights available with the ring is very straightforward. There are other available paid integrations that I might take advantage of later, but the primary membership opens a ton of ring abilities for $5.99 per month or $69.00 per year. I am not a swimmer or diver just a bath and shower taker so although the ring is waterproof it wasn’t the most important factor to me, but I really love to read about technological triumphs and I think when sports enthusiasts read about the ability to use the ring in a water environment it will be a plus for them (you might read up on this). My whole reason for wanting to obtain the Oura ring was to help me understand my sleep pattern I had developed. I wanted to improve to a more restful and restorative sleep situation. I was concerned how insomnia was affecting my health. Be prepared to be intrigued and amazed how changed sleep habits can make a real difference in your daily life. My personal journey took me from insomnia to a full 8-hour sleep pattern with a good amount of REM sleep. When I first started wearing the ring I had about 43 minutes of REM sleep. Now I am averaging over 2 hours of REM each night. The app encourages a regular daily pattern of going to bed and getting up in sync with your normal body rhythm. From my experience it takes time to adjust but I kept using the app’s Advisor, one of my favorite aspects of the ring, to help guide me. There are various reasons why different people may have trouble getting to sleep. But once you start getting enough sleep with the ring’s help as shown through the Advisor, you will be ready to get up and tackle other options that the ring has to offer. I have also started taking advantage of logging in meals for the nutritional and meal timing insights the app offers. You can take a picture of your plate of food, and it will give you information on your meal selection such as whether changing some of the items will be more helpful in my health goals. I still have much to learn. Don’t think a reviewer can give you full details of what there is to offer with this ring because it takes time to use the ring and discover where you are health-wise and what you might be able to add on as far as integrations to bring you to a more optimum health state. When you first begin your journey to a better you the app may tell you it needs several weeks of data from the ring’s information to give you feedback in some areas. There is much you can read and learn through the app about written scientific articles available. I also plan to take advantage of the Testing Hub. My first result regarding caffeine came in today. I am excited to see how having my last cup of coffee 6 hours before bedtime will affect my statistics over the next couple of weeks. Take advantage of the Get Help tab in the app along with the virtual assistant articles and additional integrations that are available or that will be coming in the near future. I have read that the Oura app will continue to have updates which is awesome. Looking forward to what is next. I could write so much more but the whole point of a review is how well the device is working and is it as beneficial as they say in order to pay the price that they are asking for it. In my personal life within just a few weeks I am already reaping the rewards. So, I give this Oura ring high marks. As far as any negatives the only one I would like to do an integrative meal plan but that is behind a paywall and that isn’t in my budget yet!

So much better than something on my wrist
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oura Ring 4 ceramic has been a great addition to my healthy lifestyle journey. I’ve been messing with wrist-based fitness trackers for a long time. I just don’t like how they feel. I don’t like things on my wrists. About 10 days in, and I can easily say that I enjoy the ring MUCH more than anything I’ve had on my wrist. Let’s be clear, this isn’t a smart watch. You aren’t going to be answering calls, GPS tracking your runs, or texting your buddies. But, if you want to keep tabs on your activity, sleep, stress, and readiness for tackling the day and a workout, this thing is pretty great. The look and feel is very nice. I chose the midnight color, and I really like it. It’s a deep blue with gloss finish. It’s bound to get scuffed up over time, but it does have a polishing cloth to help keep it nice. It’s noticeable on my hand, but I like how it looks and it’s a conversation starter. It’s a bit chunky compared to a normal ring, but I really don’t find it problematic at all. You definitely need to use the sizing kit to make sure you get the correct fit. The sizing kit also gives you an idea of how chunky the ring will be before you buy it. Additionally, you should do a little research about what finger to wear it on. While it can function on just about any finger, there are recommendations for top performance and wear and tear. Battery life is good. I’m getting about 5 days. While you can wear it in the shower, I’m finding that if I just drop it on the charger while I shower, it pretty much never runs down. The instructions recommend short charges more frequently rather than letting it run all the way down as a way to extend the life of the battery over time. Setup was really easy. Just add the app to your phone. Put the ring on the charging base. Tell the app to add a device and it will find it (make sure BT is on). Super easy. The app is well designed and easy to navigate. It takes about 5 days to gather enough data for all of the advanced features to unlock, but you get your basic activity, heart rate, and sleep data right away. I was sick when I got mine, and I found a way to tell the app that I’m sick, so it doesn’t bug me about activity. That was nice. After a few days, it started to gently prod me back into activity. It has a stress monitor as well. I was skeptical about this feature. I didn’t understand how it would know if I’m stressed. Well, I still don’t understand it, but I do believe it works. I watched my favorite NFL team win on a last second field goal after a brutal back and forth game. After the game was over, I looked at my stress chart. You could easily see when the game began and spikes in my stress level watching the game go back and forth, with my peek stress point on the game winning kick. Very cool! I find the numbers motivating. Whether it’s the app telling me I need to work on my sleep habits or telling me that I should be good to hit the gym pretty hard, I like it. It’s just one little thing that helps keep me engaged in my journey without being uncomfortable to wear. There is a monthly fee, but unlike most subscription based fitness apps, I think one is work it.

Great Wearable Health and Activity Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the box: Oura Ring 4 Ceramic (size 11, color Midnight) 3-foot USB-C to USB-C charging cable Charging base “Stuff you should know” booklet Setup: After downloading the Oura iPhone app and creating an account, setup over Bluetooth was straightforward. The ring came adequately charged for setup and a day or so of wear. Design: The fit of the size 11 Oura Ring 4 Ceramic was well represented by the sizing kit based on the inside diameter. The outside diameter of the size 11 ceramic ring is about one millimeter larger than the size 11 ring in the sizing kit. The small indentation on the ring facilitates proper placement of the sensors toward the palm side of the hand. Small slots on the interior of the ring match keys on the charging base to ensure proper charging. According to Oura, the ring is designed to be water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters (328 feet) and has an operating temperature range of 14 to 125°F. I have not tested the limits of either. The polished zirconia ceramic exterior is wear- and scratch-resistant. After setting up an account, Oura provided a burnishing cloth to buff out scratches should they occur. Aesthetic: The Midnight ceramic exterior is a dark metallic color with a reflective surface. It looks more metallic than blue (a good thing in my opinion). Function: The Oura Ring 4 measures blood oxygen levels, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and movement. The algorithms in the app combine these measurements to assess “readiness”, sleep quality, activity, and stress. Some of these metrics require establishment of a personalized baseline that can take a couple weeks to establish. Batter: The charge on my Oura Ring 4 Ceramic lasts about a week. At the point when the app alerts me that the battery is low, charging takes less than an hour. App: The Oura App has a slick user interface and is easy to navigate. Custom activities can be added to better correspond to your favorites.

It's...OK. (I guess)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are some really neat things about this full offering from Oura that help to balance out some of the annoyances, but in the end, I don't think it's for me. Or you. Or most people. Oura's approach to sizing notwithstanding (read the annoyingly separate reviews of their sizing kit), overall 'startup' in Oura's ecosystem is pretty straightforward. Get the ring, pair it to your device, set up an account, and you're on your way. And it's nice, because the battery lasts basically forever (not really, but far longer than a smartphone or smartwatch), and as long as you can get over its physical size, it's pretty easy to forget you're wearing it. But you won't forget: you'll notice, quite a bit in fact. It's not a big ring, necessarily, in fact it is noticeably smaller than some earlier generation smart rings. But, it is far from a 'normal' ring when it comes to overall girth. I'm used to wearing one ring, my wedding ring, and the Oura ring takes some extra getting used to due to its size…but I also think most people would expect this out of the gate. Given its size, it is surprisingly light, and the 'midnight' color I got is gorgeous. I actually really enjoyed fidgeting with it, frequently poking at it with my thumb. This was a necessary tactic, as there is a small divot that is supposed to stay centered plam-side, so the fidgeting ended up being a useful tick. Some of the 'cool factor' stuff comes with the ecosystem itself, experienced within the Oura app. The ring will automatically sense sleep and workouts, which can be accessed within the app. I don't love the user interface overall--navigation is somewhat confusing and it's difficult to remember where to go to access certain information. And, like many third-party health apps (and by third-party, I mean not Google, Samsung or Apple's integrated health apps), integration with the big players isn't always there. I'm a current Samsung Watch and former Apple Watch user. I use these devices to track workouts (however sparing they may be), sleep (however sparing it may be), and receive/act on notifications. I routinely buy the cellular model of smart watches because I want to do these things while away from my phone; in many ways, the smartwatch is a perfect companion device for me. Oura's ring is not. It's not bad… but the lack of full integration and data synchronization with Samsung's health app makes this at best a tertiary (and very unnecessary) data collector. That said, arguably my very favorite thing about the whole ring experience is Oura's approach to snack and meal tracking. It's not over-the-top granular the way MyFitnessPal is, with macro and micro nutrient tracking, but the ability to take pictures of your food and auto populate a food diary is pretty cool (and it worked surprisingly well). The app also has a very nice way of urging you to eat healthier without shaming you (even though I assume all AI is mostly passive-aggressive). But then there's the rub: the price. This ring is $500, more expensive than my Samsung smart watch, and only $20 less than a cellular 46mm Apple Watch that can do so much more. If I had to choose, I'd take the watch every time, and that's coming from someone who loves to frivolously spend money on tech I don't really need. But of course, that's not all: Oura also charges you $6/month or $70/year for their service. Dump the cellular on the Apple Watch and the Apple product becomes the cheaper option, which is unusual to say the least. So it's clearly not for me--and given the adoption of smart watches over the last several years, I don't really think it's an overall good product given the extremely high cost of entry.

Excellent addition to tracking my health
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fitness rings are awesome and hard at the same time. Overall, I love having a fitness ring, I had one for about a year before I was forced to switch to the Iphone and that ring was no longer compatible with my phone. I think one of the struggles with smart rings is you can’t just resize like a normal metal band so customizing is hard, also, you want it snug so it can read your vitals but if it is too snug it can be an absolute pain to take off if your fingers change size often like my fingers seem to. It’s not an issue for my wedding band as I rarely take it off but the finger I would most like to put the Oura on is always too small for the size 11 but often too big for the size 10. I used the sizing kit for a week prior to making the choice, but I think I would have gone the size 10 looking back as the size 11 fits just a fraction bigger than the sizing kit and that fraction would have made the difference taking it on and off in the size 10, so if you think the sizing ring is just a hair too small you might be alright with the real ring, or maybe it is just the material difference as metal does slide on and off easier than plastic. I was at another store, and their sizing rings look different and fit basically identical to the ring I had on my finger compared to the sizing kit I received. The size 11ring I move between three different fingers depending on what feels comfortable that day, my two index fingers or my middle-left finger. I mostly like the ring because it tracks blood oxygen at night and I’m annoyed it doesn’t input that data into apple health, I’ve seen a few work arounds but unless you have some technical knowhow. The added bonus that does a good job of tracking that I realized is actually accurate is the stress, sleep score and readiness. I really never considered these as being something that could actually be accurate. But as I’ve used it more and more the numbers have started giving me feedback that is usable. The most surprising one is the stress as that has never really been super accurate but Oura seems to have nailed it and I can see that graph that correlates to a stressful call at work or an incident I need to respond to… mostly this is just interesting feedback to me, I can’t really do anything to make the situation less stressful but I like having the data. The sleep score and readiness score work give me insight on why i am so tired or if I am feeling great, I can see when I went to bed and when I got up. The sleep score is helping me make better decisions… I’ve noticed if I eat too heavy of dinner my deep sleep seems to suffer and I start losing energy through the week… same if I don’t get a good night’s sleep by heading to bed when it’s time. I’ve learned by I seem to function great on 7 to 7.5 hours of sleep but going to bed at 9 vs 11 is giant for my sleep score and I’ll be up by 5 to 530 without an alarm if I’m asleep by 930 vs fighting to get out of bed at 630 if I go to bed at 1030 even though that is actually a little bit more sleep. This will sounds little crazy but I’ve started using the readiness score to motivate myself. Going running in the morning is hard, so I will look at the score in the morning and if it is in the 80s not matter what my mind is trying to tell me, I can be like, the data says I can run… I need to go running. Inversely if I score in the 60s or 70s, I’ll be like, yeah, time to take a break this morning. The Timeline feature is interesting, but it isn’t the most usable to me. I need a food log but this one isn’t my favorite though I like how it estimates the calories based off the picture and seems to be accurate but will miss things. Depending on what you’re looking for in a food tracker this might be right up your alley. The steps counter is mostly accurate, if you’re getting a ring to count steps… I’d think twice. It disagreed with my apple watch especially when I did a couple of 4 mile runs. I’m not sure how much I really trust my apple watch either… At the end of the day, it will tell you if you’ve been active that day and that is what I really care about. The design of this particular ring is interesting. I’m used to metal rings and up till now my smart rings have been metal. The material feels a little different and I’ve gotten several marks on it that I can never remember where they came from, the ceramic polishing pad is a must have if you want those to go away and they do come right off. The white is definitely a cream color not white and just kind of blends into my hand as it isn’t too far off from my skin tone. Overall, I really like having a ring to track my fitness more holistically and I do like the ceramic type of design of the ring versus metal. I love the ability to track my health more closely. I think the part I like most about it is the ability to arm my brain with facts when I really don’t want to get out of bed to do the things I need to do to get and stay healthy.

Solid Fitness and Sleep Tracking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all the setup with pretty straight forward via the app. I charged it on the base prior to setup. The base looks cool and does not take up a lot of space which is something I appreciate. I have been using fitness trackers for the last 12 years, so I have established a baseline for the data that is provided. I must say data is very good and now I am starting to question the accuracy of my previous tracker, especially when it comes to sleep. Note that this ring has to be worn for a month for everything to be calibrated. I'm looking forward to this. The biggest complaint about this ring is that it is too bulky. During daily activities I can feel the ring squeezing against my other fingers. Also, it is uncomfortable when I am weight lifting. Very annoying when I am bench pressing. My other complaint is the color choices. I wished there was a black color or colors that look like actual jewelry, but I guess that might be difficult with ceramic. Outside of my two complaints, I do like this ceramic ring and I think the app is very good and provides very good data.

Pretty, but less comfortable than the standard one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to add the ceramic ring given how gorgeous it is, however upon putting it on I found it was significantly less comfortable than the metallic Oura 4. This is pretty much exclusively due to the ring being 20% thicker than the standard titanium ring, causing it to press against other fingers and anything you might be grasping noticeably more than the regular one. Within an hour I'd already boxed it up for return, and will be sticking to just my regular Oura 4. Hopefully one day they can make a ceramic one that is the same thickness as the current titanium, at which time I'll gladly upgrade, but for now the extra $150 for less comfort just isn't a good option :/
