This is not your typical Wizard of Oz movie lately they keep rehashing the series and I've been disappointed with some of the rehash but this one will surprise you especially Mila Kunis who was fantastic in this movie and was not giving enough credit in my book for her character pick it up today

This movie was funny, heartfelt and explains where the Wizard can from, at first you I kinda did't like the Wizards character but film shows he's not such a bad guy, the fact that you get a Blu-ray Disc, DVD disc and a Digital Copy of the Movie make this a great buy.

My husband bought this using his best buy account and reviewed it, then we had our accounts merged, and all his old purchases are showing up on MY review page, so I'm re-reviewing so-to-speak to get the points.

This is the perfect prequel to Wizard of Oz. I think the theme was very appropriate for the original movie. I enjoyed all the colors and the acting was very good. There were some funny moments. I do not think it would be too scary for children. My wife and daughter also enjoyed it. We bought the 3d version and it looks amazing on our new TV.

Overall it's a great movie for the family! If you love the Wizard of Oz this gives you a wonderful prequel to the story though it is quite a bit different from what one would think. Just wish that they had deleted scenes or behind the scenes extras on the DVD I got.

I thoroughly enjoyed Oz the great and powerful. I had heard mixed things about it when it came out but I finally watched it for myself. It was great and made me want to go back and rewatch the original Wizard of Oz.

I LOVE THE STORY OF OZ/QUITE A DIFFERANT APPROACH TO THE STORY OF OZ. BUT ANYWAY LEAVE IT TO DISNEY TO ADD THEIR STORY TELLING MAGIC TO TURN THECLASSIC OZ INTO A FAMILY EVENT!!!!! WE ALL LOVED THIS PRESENTATION OFTHE OLD CLASSIC WITH A DISNEY-RE-DUXXXX!!!!

I was not too sure of touching a classic like the Wizard of Oz, but was relived to find out it was a prequel, and NOT a remake. However, I was thrilled with the new movie, and actually hope they do remake the original now. Really looking forward to the IMAX 3D version of the original coming out this September!

Very colorful graphics/scenes. James Franco nailed it as he lives up to the Oz character with various similarities. Brings you in depth to story of how the wizard of oz came to be and the origins of the witches of the east & west. Blu-ray Disc is included with a digital copy code for windows or iTunes

I should never trust people I work with to tell me about movies. They made this movie to have no plot and a waste of time. I found it to be exceptional, but I am a Wizard of Oz fan. This is basically the Wizard of OZ from the Wizards perspective.

Oz is a magnificent portrayal of the original Wizard of Oz, but with new twists, young acclaimed actors and technology, Oz is something our new age kids can relate to. This was going to be, either phenomenal, or a disaster.. Happy to report, it is a hit!! A+ ALL AROUND!

Aside from the script and story issues that have plagued this production - the 3D is superb and very immersive and the colors very bright and vivid. A great film to throw on the (3D) glasses for and sit back and enjoy

I liked this movie in 2D, I loved it in 3D. I enjoyed the story in both, but became engrossed in the land of Oz in 3D. It is a good family movie that overall works well with the original Wizard of Oz. My only complaint is that I would like the option of a combo 2D/3D pack like are usually available.

Great movie. Cinematography is colorful and looks great on blu-ray. Surround sound is top notch. I like this better than the Wizard of Oz. That's not a knock on Wizard of Oz. Its a classic, no question. I just like the origin story line.

I never thought i would enjoy a story focused on Oz the man behind the curtain, but certainly enjoyed the storyline and its development toward his becoming the Wizard of Oz. I await the next chapter in the tale with great anticipation.

Disney waited a long time to get this to screen. The storyline was basically similar to the original story although with a little creative license. The color was terrific! It held my interest and I felt that it was money well spent.

Great Visual effects and 3D viewing made this movie even more fun to watch but I wish the movie for the price you paid had better special features. I'm not sure why some 3D movies are $30-40 dollars and you don't get any special features of behind the scenes or the making of.

Ok I know it was panned by critics BUT it is incredibly enjoyable. It is light and funny. It is fantastically filmed. Now it may not be the classic that the Wizard Of Oz is but what is a true classic these days ? My children LOVED it and my PARENTS LOVED it. It is worth the look

The books create the storyline of before Dorothy. I like the telling through the eyes of Disney on America's prized jewels of bedtime stories. Makes you want to pick up the books to find out more.

If you wanted to see what happened before Dorthy, this is it. A bit darker so wouldn't recommend it very young children. Despite the darker side, the journey to becoming the wizard is an enjoyable one.
