I wasn't sure about this movie but decided to give it a try anyway and was very impressed. the 3D looks really good and it has some awesome scenes for 7.1 surround sound. The story kept a pretty good pace. overall a great movie for people with kids to enjoy as a family.

I like what they did to tie it to the MGM OZ. They also tried to have some things more like the author presented it. Disney did an excellent job. Small children might not enjoy it but then again I don't believe small children really liked the wizard of oz either.

Tha movie itself was great, especially in 3D. Character development was well done, cinematography great, colors very vivid. Only complaint I have is Disney's way of only including 3D Blu ray disc, charging $5 more than the Blu ray combo pack (which had Blu ray, DVD & digital copy). Thought that was a rude way to extort money. Then, Disney topped it by offering the regular Blu ray via the Disney Movie Rewards program for an additional $5.99. I found that insulting! If this is Disney's path forward, I've purchased my last item from them. Buy the Blu ray combo pack and skip the 3D version.

My daughter and I watched this movie (she's 10). It was interesting to see some more background on the characters from the classic movie, particularly Oz and the wicked witch. An enjoyable watch overall.

This movie was a really good prequel to the original Wizard of Oz movie. The acting was great. Although it will never achieve the same status of the Wizard of Oz, it is enjoyable to watch with the family.

I found this background story of the Wizard of Oz to be interesting and entertaining and it provided insight into some of the actions of the characters. However, I still like the old movie the best.

I loved that this movie followed a lot of the story of the first Wizard of Oz, it was fun to see how things came about to create the story for the older movie. The characters were fun and interesting.

in the vein of WICKED, another view (the OZ wizard) of the story kind of like "wicked" thought it was done well I'm surprised I had not heard more about it before, bought it because it was on sale.

Good film. enjoyed it a lot. Not as good as Wizard of Oz, but great prequel story. give it a try.

This is a fun and adventurous movie. The colors and picture quality make a great visual impression. The Great and Powerful Oz takes you back to the beginning of the Wizard of Oz and how he became wizard. The characters were well played.

I loved the Oz books as a kid so when this movie came out I was super excited to get out. And it was just as good as I expected even if the plot was a little different from the books.

I was very impressed with the story and didn't feel betrayed that it took away for the classic. I really enjoyed the backstory and how the witches came to be. Very entertaining.

I'm a sci fi fan, but I loved this movie! Normally I watch movies like Star Wars and Alien. I wasn't expecting much, when I TOTALLY fell in love with this movie :)

James Franco puts on a spectacular performance in this awesome film. Another film that goes great with fungi or without. It's a good time for everyone. Awesome!

the plot of the story was pretty good and I learned how the wicked witch came to be but it still could've been a little better in general especially with some of the characters.

While you find yourself comparing this to the original, which it is not of the same level. It's still an entertaining movie and had some nice ties back to the original.

I saw this on a movie channel, expecting to not like it. I was very wrong. The character development alone was worth it. Clever fill-ins to a classic that can stand alone, but is made even better for the filling-in.

One of the better movie ideas in a long time, Hollywood has been doing "remakes" for so long, I think its great to take an existing movie and add a story to it, in this case a prequel. Wonderful movie for the entire family.

I LOVE THE DISNEY VERSION OF STORY OF OZ. BUT I HAVE TO SAY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED I WOULD CHECK-OUT THE BLU-RAY VERSION OF THIS WALT DISNEY SOON TO BE CLASSIC.

I liked the idea of re-making the classic, but some parts were a bit over done and some parts went off track of the classic we were used to. Overall pretty good though.
