Amazing 3D and a decent movie!

I just watched the 3D Blu-rays for both Pacific Rim films a couple of days ago, and it was my first time watching them in 3D. Surprisingly the first film's 3D seemed to be better and more immersive, but the 3D in Uprising was also very impressive! I am definitely glad I bought the movie on 3D Blu-ray, as I did enjoy it quite a bit, especially in 3D! I still think the first film was better in pretty much every way, but the sequel is a must own for any fan of the original in my opinion!

While the movie is not anything special over original, in fact its a few notches below. It is notable in its presentation as a demo piece. Audio and 4K transfer are main selling points and are reference quality. 3D, my main reason for purchasing was decent but stood out more in fight scenes, definately better in original there. Lastly, B.B exclusive avilailability only downside as they have become the only domestic retailer to offer 3D option on some movies at times. And getting a B.B exclusive copy is hit or miss depending on how fast you are to pickup.

Pacific Rim Uprising was a good addition to the first. I was not disappointed at all. Some people said it wasn't any good, however my husband and I really enjoyed it. They used a lot of original characters from the first and tied the first movie to this one really well. It also had a bit of comedy.

It's great when you get the 3D and the 4K version in one package! Best Buy seems the only source for this and I hope they keep it up.

    A Fun Kaiju Ride

Boyega shines as the son of Stacker Pentecost in this sequel to the original Pacific Rim. The world has moved on since the Kaiju were defeated and the breach closed up, but the Jaeger program (very large mobile robots piloted by two people) is still in full swing in case of another attack. When he and a young girl get arrested, he is persuaded to be a new instructor of the new generation of Jaeger pilots. However, things take a turn for the worse when a rogue Jaeger shows up and wreaks havoc. Who could be behind this since the Kaiju have all been defeated? The battles are intense and it looks gorgeous in 4K HDR. This also comes with a digital 4K and mine had a code for a free movie as well. (When that code did not work, I emailed the company and they gave me a new one!) One word of warning is that the tone of this movie is very different than the first. It has more of a comedy tone with some serious moments sprinkled in during the conflict. There are some heartfelt moments as well that flesh out some of the characters. The scientists from the previous movie once again return and they steal the show when they are screen. If you are a fan of the first movie, as long as you can get through the first half hour and know what you are getting into with the comedy and back and forth, this movie really finds its stride by the rogue Jaeger attacks. Also, if you have never seen the first one, I think you can enjoy this one as well as most of the returning characters have side roles. A cool plot twist, great presentation and solid sound track make this worthy of a fun kaiju watch.

Pacific Rim is a colossal spectacle of epic proportions that brings the joy of giant monster and robot battles to the big screen. The film's breathtaking visuals, awe-inspiring action sequences, and masterful creature design create an immersive experience that will leave audiences in awe. With its perfect blend of heart-pounding excitement, charismatic performances, and a captivating narrative, Pacific Rim is a must-watch for fans of thrilling sci-fi adventures.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Pacific Rim movie because it was unapologetic about being a 'giant robots vs. giant monsters' film that looked beautiful and didn't have to be thought about too hard. The sequel, although not as great overall as the first film, isn't terrible to me. It's a good contrast to the first film in that we get to see the Jeagers in daylight most of the time, even though they kind of look like giant robotic power rangers. I enjoy the little bits of comedy and the demonstrations of the different levels of society post-kaiju war. I really only have one big issue with this movie. The way the final mega-kaiju is killed is kind of ... meh. I get it, they let it fall out of the sky like a 275ft tall bullet, but it just felt sub-par to me. I would have appreciated a little more added grit like the final fights in the first movie (the new gadgets that the Jeagers had were fun to watch, but I think they showed them off a bit too much, whereas the first movie tried to show off all the details of each fight). Great picture and sound on the 4K release

Awesome 4k Image & Dolby Atmos

This is a lesser version of the original, but still a fun movie if you love giant robots and monsters destroying major cities. The real star is the 4k version with excellent HDR and true eye-candy color. The height speakers in an Atmos setup are constantly active and the entire soundtrack provides pinpoint aural imaging of the resulting clash between good robots, bad robots, and evil monsters - both human and alien. This is now my "go to" demo material for anyone who wants to know if it is worth it to upgrade to 4k and Dolby Atmos

I bought this movie because it was on sale. I liked it because it has robots fighting monsters and the special effects look cool. I bought this movie on 4k even though I don't think there is much of a difference between 4k and 1080p. I really think 4k is a gimmick, just to lure you in. Its the world telling you they haven't updated their picture format quality in a long time so they release 4k to justify it. And they want you to upgrade everything you own so they can make money.

The first Pacific Rim was a shout out to all those old Japanese monster films and the story was good. This film while wasn’t as good as the first at the very least was a nice continuation and overall was a lot of fun to watch. If you’re looking for some brainless fun monster action this is the movie for you.

Purchased this because I've got the first one on regular Blu-Ray. I loved the first one with how giant they made everything. The visual effects are pretty amazing. I would not consider this an oscar worthy performance for anyone, but if you like action, monsters, and giant mechs...then this movie is for you.

Awesome and fun movie. Visually as beautiful as first, though more day scenes compared to first where most battles took place in neon lit night time rain. Soundtrack and motivational themes make this an epic continuation to the story of first movie. If the first one made your inner 7 year old jump for joy seeing giant robots fight giant monsters (kaiju), then this one will too! Box comes with BluRay for HD viewing, DVD, and Digital copy for redeeming.

You don't watch a movie like Pacific Rim for a really deep thought provoking experience, you watch it to see giant robots fighting giant monsters, and on that front it succeeds like the first one did. More of the same, which isnt a bad thing. Guilty pleasure entertainment

As a direct follow-up to Guillermo Del Toro's 2013 sci-fi mecha actioner, Pacific Rim Uprising is relatively satisfying, sure to meet expectations of hardened fans while leaving others wanting more. Starring John Boyega and Scott Eastwood, the sequel is pure popcorn escapism, placing more attention on the robot-vs-monster pandemonium than on character development or a thoughtfully engaging plot. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray brings the gigantic mayhem with a gorgeous Dolby Vision presentation and an awesome Dolby Atmos soundtrack. A small but nonetheless informative set of supplements rounds out the package and worth a look for fans, as well as those hungry for more demo-worthy HDR goodness.

An Average Movie with Great 4K Picture and Sound

This is the 2nd movie in the Pacific Rim franchise. The story has some surprising twists and a great 4K picture. It really helps if you watch the 1st movie as the 2nd film draws a lot from it. The main plot is that monsters come from the Earth's underwater crust to take over the planet. Humans build gigantic robots that have to powered by two people. The interaction between the Robots and the creatures pretty much covers what the movie is about. This film is okay, but the 4K enhancements make this movie definitely watchable. If you are looking to pass the time and have seen the 1st film, then I would entertain the idea of watching Pacific Rim Uprising in 4K.

A Decent Sequel To An Underrated Kaiju Genre Film

Pacific Rim: Uprising is the sequel to 2013's underrated movie, Pacific Rim. Starring John Boyega and Scott Eastwood, the movie attempts to carry on the frenetic energy that the original movie had. In some instances it succeeds, with inventive new kaiju and bombastic battles. However, the subplot involving Charlie Day's character and the Chinese conglomerate looking to make Jaegers obselete falls flat. Boyega as Stacker Pentecost (Idris Elba) tries his best to carry the film, but with a convoluted plot and forgettable supporting characters, Uprising is a good but forgettable popcorn flick.
