I haven't had this unit all that long, three weeks now, but I've watched about nine movies on it thus far. When I got the unit, the first thing I did was grab four new 4K HDR movies based on online reviews of the actual 4K content that I knew I already liked. I got Pacific Rim, Maze Runner, Star Trek and The Revenant. While I don't consider myself a video or audiophile, I am very picky of both and will spend hours tweaking both things on my equipment to get the best quality I can. So with that said, I started by watched Pacific Rim. This, in my opinion, is one of the best action 4K films out at the moment to show off 4K and HD Audio. Not only does it actually fill the entirety of my 75" screen due to it's aspect ratio, but the detail and crispness of the picture is amazing and really showed off what 4K content can look like when compared to it's 1080p brother. The HDR does add to the picture, but not quite what I was expecting it to be based on reading other reviews and online video reviews. However I will note that it really depends on the movie being watched and likely the TV for that matter. The Revenant seemed to be an exception in the collection of 4K discs that I now own and looks beautiful due to alot of outside video showcasing the landscapes. The rest of the films I had a hard time telling the difference between 1080p upconvert and native 4K unless it was still or very low motions scenes with the actors. I wasn't the only one either. My son and a good friend we're saying the same thing when I demo'd several films in both 4K and 1080p. The only one they saw a noticeable difference in was Pacific Rim. The 4K upconversion of the player is pretty good and does a bit better job than the TV (Sony XBR75X940D) playing 1080p content from various sources...OTA and HTPC, but not as much as I was expecting, so this will vary depending on your TV. The HD audio from the unit is on par with what I already have going through my HTPC configuration and sounded equally as good through my Denon X6200W receiver. The speed of the unit from putting in a disc till getting to the menu is faster than I expected averaging about 15 - 20 seconds. Enough time to grab my drink from the counter and sit back down on my couch. I do like that current 4K discs have no previews or ads in them, which is a very nice subtlety and makes getting to your movie that much quicker. There are a lot of items to customize on the menus of the unit and for the most part I left them at default. I did change a few items in the bitstreaming sub menus because I wanted the original HD audio in my 7.1 system and not a downmix of any sort. I don't subscribe to Netflix or Amazon video, so I didn't test any of the apps on the player. I did encounter one issue with the unit and that was playing one 1080p Bluray, Prometheus. It popped up saying that I didn't have enough space for some required data and to either put in a USB flash drive or try again. I selected try again and it went away. I'm not sure if this was due to some BD Live feature or what and it's only done it once. Overall I like the player and it's picture quality and would recommend it, but not at it's current price point. I'd wait till it came down to under $350. If I hadn't gotten a super deal on it with gift cards, rewards and a movers coupon, I likely wouldn't have purchased it yet.

This blu ray player is great. The 4k playback is amazing but hd blu rays look awesome too. The player automatically chooses the best TV picture setting and paired with my Dolby atmos sound system delivers superb sound. The design speaks high end and complements my living room look.

This Panasonic provides excellent upscaling of standard DVD's and rendition of Blu Ray and 4k pictures. Colors are deep and presented accurately. Does a very good job with HDR. Also of note, unlike the current Sony x-700 series player, [also very good], the Panasonic, and presumably the subsequent updated version UB 820, supports 5G wifi, which the Sony does not. If streaming is going to be an issue, the 5G option is valuable.

This player is well built and works flawless. I really like the backlit remote. something all manufactures need to do. the disc mechanism is extremely quiet and smooth. the only thing that bothered me is it doesn't have Hulu or Vudu. hopefully it will be added later as an update.

This 4K Blu-ray player has excellent build quality. I was able to output awesome 4K video. It is THX certified, audio output is exceptional. To top these up is a backlit remote control that feels very nice to hold. You will know this product is top quality soon as you unbox it. I have watched several Blu-ray movies using this unit with no issues. I have not tried streaming from it yet.

after looking at other 4K blu ray players, they could not match up this one. It was little bit expensive and I was not expecting to pay $599 (on sale) for a 4K blu-ray player but it was worth the price. great features as well. glad I decided to get it in spite of the price.

It works great and the only thing I wished it supported was Dolby Vision. Easy to use and intuitive menus with plenty of set-up options for those who like to tweak things. Picture quality is excellent, especially in 4K/HDR.

This is the current top of the line 4K player, it features thx certification. I had the Samsung 4K player but returned it and purchased this one.the picture displays richer and the regular blurays upscale better than the Samsung. A must have for serious movie lovers!!

I am really happy with this purchase (expensive if I see that I do not have many options to install like Hulu or Vudu at least on the video player), but everything else is awesome, perfect video and the audio is excellent. And the remote control is beautiful, I like that the keys light up on the remote control.

I purchased this particular Player because in addition to playing 4k Ultra HD Videos it is constructed in such a way (reinforced chassis, reduces vibration) as to be a superior machine for the playback of music CD's. I have yet to upgrade my sound system so I have not been able to evaluate that aspect as of yet. The device does play back Blu-Ray and 4k Ultra DVD's very well, it is pretty responsive and loads in a reasonable period of time. Until I update my audio system (currently only using the TV built in speakers) I will not be able to determine how it plays back music CD's and if the almost double the price over other 4k units is worthwhile or not. It is a very good looking machine, very seek and seems to be well constructed.

Reference Standard 4K Ultra Hd Blu-Ray + Streaming

This Panasonic is the Reference Standard 4K Ultra Hd Video Blu-Ray Player of 2017. I bought the lower cost & highly advertised S****** 4K Blu-Ray on Black Friday, not knowing this Panasonic player existed. I found this Panasonic on Bestbuy.com, so I ordered it & returned the lower cost model. This player weighs about 4 times a much as the other & is clearly designed as a high end machine. The remote is large with easy to read buttons. The front panel display is clear. It gets down to business very quickly; loads & starts the Blu-Ray or DVD in a fraction of the time as it's competition. Streaming is fantastic & smooth! Amazon Prime works extremely well, is easy to control; pause stops / starts play instantly. Streaming is very similar to the built-in streaming on the latest E Series ULED LG TV's - which is the best I have ever experienced. Colors & ultra black levels are amazing!! This Panasonic is truly a Reference Standard Blu-Ray / Streaming Player!!

I've had several regular blu-ray players and this is by far the best Now it was very expensive even as an open box but I do not regret it, besides it has lasted twice as long as the Samsung blu-rays without breaking down. On a good quality 4k the picture is fantastic and the upscaling on lower format discs is impressive.

The player does a nice job with old DVDs and Blu-Rays. I have'nt tried the 3-D features yet. My LG OLED TV does not have all of the apps I use. I get them by going through the PANASONIC player. It is easy to do, and it works well.

The remote is awesome for single frame control. The player upscales regular Blu Rays and DVD's to work very well with my 55" OLED and 55" Sidelit LCD HDR 4K tv's. This unit inspired me to get a AudioQuest Carbon hdmi for my tv and a AudioQuest Vodka hdmi for my future Marantz/ B&W audio system

Though expensive, this Panasonic ub900 is far and away better then the Samsung 8500. It easily does the audio/video split so you can route the 4K video stream to your monitor and the audio stream to your AVR using HDMI cables. The result is a totally in sync audio and video. It does a good job at showing Blu Ray discs in a better video steam than without it. Once I upgraded to a new AVR which does pass through of 4K, there was no issues noted in routing the main HDMI cable to the AVR and then to the monitor for play. It should be noted, in way of full disclosure, that my monitor is a Samsung ultra 4K 65" purchases last year and I am totally satisfied with it.

This Panasonic player is top-of-the line. I compared the picture quality to a comparable Sony player and this one is definitely better. Also the remote is very user-friendly. It is well laid-out and the buttons are not all bunched together where it is hard to press the right one. I am very happy with my purchase.
