Came from a Sony ES 4k player, I was hesitant cause I like it all Sony to match my Sony Oled master series but I said I’ll buy it anyways if it doesn’t work tomorrow I’ll return it.. YEAH RIGHT! Don’t know what took so long. But this player beats! All the way Sonys Elevated Standard all the way in all aspects of sound and image for a complete movie theater experience. Sad to say Panasonic won over Sony on this one. I matched this with my Bose Lifestyle 650 Home theater with an added second bass module and let me tell you it’s blowing up my mind as I wrote this. Do it you won’t wanna return it to the store ! 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So far everything is working well, and the picture quality is solid. Build quality for the price point is okay. will make an addendum as far as the longevity of this unit. From what I’m told issues can arise with disc reading down the road. Overall I am satisfied with the product.

Wow! What a huge upgrade from my previous movie players. I used to have to resort to my PS5 and Xbox Series X to play my 4K blu rays. This completely changed the game for me though. It really brings out the sharpest picture to my Samsung television and once I connected my soundbar to this player, it was game over. Can't ever go back to a video game console to play my 4K blu rays.

Excellent 4K Blu Ray Player with a few minor flaws

The UB820 is the best 4K player for most people. The UB9000 is better overall, especially if you need analog outputs, but I don't think the premium chassis is worth the additional cost. The UB820 looks great and feature wise with HDR, HDR10+ and the HDR Optimiser is fantastic. Works well with CEC on my TV. It has a few knocks against it. 1. The power cord fits horribly, I thought my unit was broken, but the power cord just doesn't fit. I had to steal the power cord from my Sega Dreamcast of all things (and it fit beautifully). 2. The remote is meh, with the "Up" button too close to the Netflix button, leading to accidental button presses. Do yourself a favor and buy a replica UB9000 remote for it. Works perfectly without programming. And 3. Perhaps the most frustrating. If you have to stop watching a movie and turn off the player, when you return to it, the player will not recognize that a disk is in the drive. You need to open the disk tray and then close it to get it to read. A real annoyance. Fortunately the image quality is so good that I can look past these flaws, but it is so close to perfection.

I have no complaints about this UHD disc player. It works as advertised with Blu-ray and 4K Ultra Blu-ray Discs. I have not tried it with any of my old standard DVD discs. I hope it gives me as many years of trouble-free service as my old Blu-ray unit.

Initial impressions are excellent. Picture quality and sound are great. If you are considering a new disc player, be sure to do an online search and read the reviews for this unit. Aside from all the features (see the reviews, it's a long list), I was pleased by how quiet the unit is. My old Samsung player made a lot of noise with some discs but this unit is very quiet.

Pros: - Incredible playback image quality - Options and presets a plenty to help tune your image and get the most out of your HDR TV - Upscaling is fantastic - USB drive playback can handle lossless 4K Cons: - Very laggy app interface - Network playback hampered by a low bandwidth ethernet. - Cheap feeling build quality (nitpicking) I am beyond impressed with this player and it's image quality. If you want the best player for your physical media and don't want to spend $1000, this will do you wonders and punches well above it's price class with insanely good image processing. Seriously, you don't know what you're missing if you stick to Xbox or PS5 for UHD playback. The options available to tune your image feel limitless and allows you to get the most out of your HDR TV and make HDR content look even better than they usually would. The biggest drawback I can think of is the network playback. Panasonic made it possible to stream in media of any format hosted on a server, yet didn't give it gigabit ethernet for the proper bandwidth needed to playback lossless. It would've been the perfect (albeit not the prettiest) network player as the image processing and upscaling present for disk playback also apply to the media you're streaming.

I was lucky enough to get an Oppo UDP-203 a few years ago before they stopped manufacturing them (and the price was reasonable), so when I needed another UHD BluRay player I had high expectations. This Panasonic player is no Oppo, but it’s a good player. I’ve had one 4K disc (Spider Man: Far From Home) that wouldn’t play initially (the player reported it as “unauthorized” I think?), but after removing it and playing a bit of another disc, the Spider Man movie played as it should. Setup and the menu system is a little strange but ultimately understandable. I won’t be using the player to stream, but it has the basic apps: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and then an assortment of others I’ve never heard of. The “app market” section looks kind of limited. More importantly for me: I’ve been pleased by the output of the player. It’s played every 4k disc I’ve put in so far (eventually), and the output is great. I haven’t played DVDs yet so I don’t know how well the upscaling works, but the unit is meeting my expectations so far. It’s no Oppo in terms of build quality, ruggedness, and refinement, but it’s doing the job I need it to.

I love movies! Every movie depends on great presentation. This Panasonic delivers on both. The picture quality is pristine and accurate, and the sound is immersive but to a higher level. Deep, rich, nuanced and enveloping. If you thinking of dedicating a room for movie watching or just want to upgrade to truly get the most of all your DVD collection, then this player is a fine choice. It will not disappoint. It has streaming capabilities, but where it shines is DVD's! Regular, Bluray or 4K. Best player for the money. Most players are ok this one ups the quality. It will bring you hours of enjoyment.

I’ve been using Xbox consoles for playing Blu-rays and 4K DVDs for years now. Not sure what took me so long to finally make the move, but this 4K player is seriously worth it. Instantly noticed a difference in the quality of my images and sound upon the first play. I love how sleek it is. Fits perfectly right under our Sony TV. A few people have even missed it when looking at our entertainment center. I suppose the ONLY downside would be the front display does not turn off while viewing. It can dim, but not turn off. Not a big fan of seeing a time stamp right below the movie I’m watching. But it’s not a big issue by any means. Easy to set up, easy to install, incredible images… What more can I say?

Why can’t a $400 DVD player remember where I stopped a dvd? Got to search all over again to get back to your stopping point. Why doesn’t the home screen come on when you power up? Very annoying. My last $90 Sony Blu-ray player would at least resume playing after stopping or powering off player. I got to admit it does have a great picture. I just don’t think it’s worth the price. I expected more for being a “high end” player. This is not the Oppo alternative unfortunately.

i have the oppo udp203 blu ray player and sony xbr65x930e tv both have the firmware upgrade for dolby vision my problem is the dolby vision low latency mode for the tv which is not full specification dolby which sony never bother to mention in the end oppo and sony was not a good fit picture was too dark the panasonic is excellent it does much better job of dolby vision and does a much better job of tone mapping and you have the option of turning off the dolby vision on the panasonic which a great option if your tv can't handle full specification dolby vision with the panasonic i get a great hdr10 and dolby vision picture and its hdr10+ ready

If this review was solely based on picture quality, I would give it 5 stars. This is a vast improvement to my current LG UBK90 player. The playmode is smooth and quiet. Sadly that's where it ends. This was my 3rd purchase of a Panasonic player. Like the previous Panasonic players (Blu Ray), they have an outstanding picture quality, but the laser is too sensitive. Overtime, the sensitivity becomes amplified to the point, most of the discs have a playing issue (pixelation), despite having immaculate, dust/scratch free surfaces. I had this player less than a week and this issue became apparent. To confirm, I played the "problematic" discs on my LG and there was no issue. The fast forward/rewind, seems sluggish and not as responsive as the LG, despite running on the latest firmware. One other plus side for this player, is the handling of 100gb discs, which the LG falls short of (freezes). If there is firmware that can resolve these issues, I would consider repurchasing this player. Shame. I really wanted to like it.

Been using it for a few weeks on a few 4k movies. The audio seems to be slightly better than the LG UBK90 I had before. Some of the video seems slightly better as well on 4k discs, which was my hope. I'm looking forward to testing out it's improved upscaling of blu-rays, but haven't yet. I like that it is a little faster than the LG UBK90 I had before. The only thing that I'm not sure if it was a disc or player issue, was a freeze on one 4k disc, but the others I've watched were all fine. My main reason for updating was to get away from the disc skips and freezes, which I was having too often on the LG UBK90.
