One of the best movies ever made animated or not finally on Blu-ray

Solid anime from ages ago! If u like messed up stuff this is it!

Perfect Blue is a thriller about a pop idol trying to break into the world of film and television, only to discover her life going from idyllic and bright, to increasingly dark and unnerving as a stalker shadows her every move, and her cheerful nature slowly eroding to paranoia and cynicism as reality and dreams blur into one. If you're a fan of psychological pieces from games like Silent Hill or films like Black Swan, this is a much watch.

Amazing steelbook to accompany a Satoshi Kon classic. The film is phenomenal and should be regarded as one of the best anime films. Full stop. What a true visionary of a director that was unfortunately taken from us too soon. My only gripe is that the inside art is highly lacking as it's just a muted purplish background and could've easily had some actual art. Highly highly recommended!

One of the best psychological thriller animes out there! Almost all of Satoshi Kon's has an amazing surrealism that keeps his work from being predictable, but this is the place to start if you're new to it. The Steelbook case itself is basic and the artbook is thin, but this is my 3 time buying this movie because I like it enough to upgrade (first DVD, then BluRay, now Steelbook). If you like Perfect Blue, give Kon's series Paranoia Agent a try next!

A must own. Ask anyone and they will tell you, this film has it all. I feel like I would do the film an injustice to review it myself as it is tough for me to articulate in only a few short sentences, but if you would like to learn more, there is a YouTuber name "Breadsword" who made an incredible review on his channel of this film, as well as the other 4 seminal works by the late Satoshi Kon. This was one of my first purchases of Blu-ray distributed by Shout Factory. I've heard that they do excellent restoration work and put out films with high quality Blu-ray transfers, and this film mostly lives up to that hype. The picture quality is as great as can be expected for a 90's anime film; no noticeable artificial picture enhancements, colors are vibrant without being over saturated, and the lines of the art are well defined and free of digitally jagged edges. The sound mix for the Japanese track is also great, with all voices and sounds remaining distinct and nothing sounded muffled. My only minor gripe is that the picture can look a little jittery at times, which is mainly noticeable during the beginning credits or when there is text on the screen. Overall, a near perfect transfer from Shout Factory.

A classic anime from master storyteller Satoshi Kon who has influenced such successful filmmakers as Darren Aronofsky and Christopher Nolan, Perfect Blue is a bold and sometimes nightmarish look at celebrity culture, fandom, and the pursuit of art in the the corporate media landscape. This blu ray version is the best Perfect Blue has ever looked or sounded on home video and features new and interesting extras.

i have heard great things about perfect blue but never saw it and when i saw it was getting a steelbook i had to buy it. the steelbook is nice but the movie.... honestly i dont know how to review it properly... like people have stated its a must watch but its not clear what all was real and what was a hallucination but even that benefits the movie in a few ways.

The steelbook for Perfect Blue is gorgeous. The movie itself looks to be the same as the previous bluray release. The only new bonus (other than the steelbook case itself) is a short booklet filled with promotional images. If you love horror, and want to try out anime, this feature length movie is a good place to start.

This movie is easily in my top 3 right next to Akira and Princess Mononoke. This is great if you like psychological thrillers! Wss lucky enough to get an early release from pre-order too. Artwork on the box is beautiful and finally got an upgrade from dvd copy.....which was an upgrade from my Vhs copy.

A psychological horror masterpiece- if the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch collaborated on an anime film filtered through the lens of J-Pop and sprinkled in some giallo-style graphic murders, you would get Perfect Blue. Watch it.

Celebrated director delivers cult classic, this one is a no-brainer for anime fans I ranks among my favorites, which include ninja scrolls, ghost in the shell, Akita, fist of the North Star, etc.

The movie itself is one of the best psychological horror animes of all time with the blu ray being packed with bonus content. Slipcover was a little beaten up, but has been hard to find with one, so not too bad for all of the positives. Pick this one up!

Bought this for my brother. I don't know much about the movie itself but this order arrived before the scheduled delivery date was a nice surprise. The SteelBook itself arrived unscathed, which is always pleasant.

I’ve been looking out for this movie locally for awhile now and am very surprised to see my Best Buy carrying it. An instant purchase from me. Anyone a fan of the film Black Swan starring Natalie Portman should check this movie out.

This being my first Satoshi Kon movie I have since ventured out to watch his other films but this one still holds as his best in my opinion. The art style is timeless and even better on blu ray. You gotta buy it, it’s a great film.

Perfect Blue is a classic anime film by Satoshi Kon. If you've seen it before then you know how good it is and if you haven't seen it then you are in for a great watch. Perfect for fans of great anime and great films in general.
