The Avance Collection by Phillips offers a premium range of small appliances. This 10 speed blender is no exception. As an avid blender-er I was excited to try out the Avance. Over the years I’ve used Cuisinart, Oster, and Ninja blenders to varying levels of success. These blenders were all high quality appliances, so I feel as though I have a good grasp on how the Avance stacks up. Peers So for the price range that the Avance falls into, its mainly stacking up against Blendtec and Vitamix blenders in that premium range. These are well established brands in the blending world (Blendtec makes those ‘Will it blend’ videos which are pretty funny). Spec for spec the Avance brings a lot to the table with its 1800W motor, and large 68-oz pitcher. Power wise it packs the most punch – most others are 1500-1600W in this range. The Vitamix blenders have a few additional features/settings (Bluetooth connectivity – why?) that the Avance doesn’t have. One thing that sets it apart though, is the isolation hood which I will talk a bit about more about. Features As I mentioned, the Avance comes with a powerful 1800W motor (2.414 Hp), and a large 68 oz plastic pitcher. The power of the motor is enough to chop through anything without getting bogged down, so root veggies don’t stand much of a chance. The base features an auto-lockout that holds the pitcher in place, as well as prevents the motor from turning if the pitcher is not placed correctly. Under manual control you have 10 speeds and a pulse setting to choose from. There are 5 programed routines – smoothie, frozen dessert, soup, nuts, and ice crushing. I use the smoothie setting every day to make my shakes. 1 minute of time, and I get a perfect shake. There are a several features that go into making the Avance unique, and they center around the noise control hood. First there’s the red rubber base (that you are not supposed to remove) that helps isolate vibrations. Next is the hood itself. This plastic bubble encases the entire pitcher in its own little iso-chamber. My old blender was a deafening roar when breaking up ice and blending in general. The Avance, without the hood, is noticeably quieter under the same loads and speeds as my old blender. However, that 1800W motor can really crank it up and be quite loud. With the hood on and the blender at max speed its still loud, but you can have a conversation over it. You can give yourself a real time demo of how much it does by opening and closing the hood while the blender is running. Its like the difference of having your windows down on the highway versus having them closed and the AC on. I love the hood feature – it might be the biggest selling point for me – even more so than how smooth it made my morning shake. The last feature is not really a feature. The looks of the blender. For a blender this size, it is going to live its life out on the counter. The big, bold, stainless base really looks polished and premium. The control knob is a joy to use (has a good turning resistance), and the digital display certainly comes in handy. Performance I blend every morning. I make the same protein shake to start my days – milk, bananas, PB powder, protein powder, yogurt, oatmeal, and ice. Prior to the Avance, I used a really nice Oster blender. My shake mix routinely maxed out the capacity, and the blender never fully broke down all of the oatmeal. I also couldn’t add the ice until all the other ingredients were well blended. I assumed that would be the same with the Avance, but to a lesser degree. To my surprise the Avance fully broke down all the oatmeal and left me with a perfectly smooth drink. I also could add the ice along with all the other ingredients without issue. The size of pitcher had no issue with the volume of my shake (fills 2 large shaker bottles). I was majorly impressed with how well my shakes turned out, so this is a huge leap over my old blender. I drink these things every day so to have this level of blending is fantastic. I decided to try out one of the other settings – Nuts. I like to pulverize peanuts to toss into my Pad Thai. Usually that means busting out my food processor. With the Avance I had no issue knocking the peanuts down to Nerds-candy-sized pieces. Perfect for Pad Thai. I have plans to make my salsa and pasta sauce once my tomatoes and peppers fully come in. I’m essentially replacing my old blender, food processor, and immersion blender with this machine, so that’s kind of neat. Things to Note The soup setting, per the manual, can only be used on room temp ingredients. If you have a soup you are cooking up and need to blend, you have to let it cool down first. The blade is fixed. You cannot remove it. Coming from my Oster, this caught me off guard. Keep this in mind if you are blending something that will need to be scooped out. The whole setup is LARGE. 19.5” tall with the hood, 18” without. The base is 8W x 10D. You need 23” of vertical clearance to open the hood and 4.5” of spacing behind. I cannot fit this unit underneath my top cabinets which has about 17.5” of clearance. Overall For me the Avance has been the perfect blender. The noise isolating hood is a joy to have. The power of the blender has no issue with my shakes, and the whole unit looks quite high end. When it comes down to it, my only real issue is the total size of the setup. Other than that I have nothing negative to say about the blender – its been a joy to have in my kitchen.

Whoa what a blender! Having owned my share of blenders through the years, I figured it was time to find a blender that can do it all. I am happy to report that this can do it all and then some. Buying blenders over and over again only to have the motors burn out for one reason or another is no fun. Just like anything in life, premium products simply perform better. When you add up the cost of using several cheap-o blenders (or anything cheap for that matter), I have finally learned that getting a good product to begin with saves a TON of hassle. Not to mention said products almost always work better and last longer. Being a vegan family, we make our share of soups and smoothies and we all absolutely love this blender. There is a one-touch smoothie button right on front that makes the process so much easier. If your food to liquid ratio is correct, you simply tap this button and it does the rest. Easy, easy! I included a couple of photos of a recent smoothie I made for breakfast. It had frozen mangoes, pineapple, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, flax seeds, chia seeds, peanut butter, kale, spinach, oat milk, agave, and water. Another good ingredient for smoothies is oatmeal. Prepare some oatmeal the night before and put it in the fridge to be used cold in your smoothie. I find that the colder the ingredients, the better the smoothie. There are also one-touch buttons on the front of the unit for soups, nuts, ice crushing, and frozen desserts, as well as a large rotary 10-speed dial for custom recipes (pulse setting included). Smoothies aren’t the only thing you can make with this though. Try frozen margaritas. It will chop up your ice cubes with ease. Pretty much any type of food or drink you can make with a blender will come out perfect. That said, the pitcher is plastic, so I wouldn’t pour boiling liquids, or hot veggies for soup right into it. I’m sure it can handle it, but I just don’t. Instead, wait until your hot ingredients cool a little, then toss them in with your favorite spices and some coconut milk to make a really awesome soup. It even comes with a 74 page really nicely done full color recipe book (also pictured), that includes drinks, sauces, smoothies, etc… Assembly is quick and easy. Placing the pitcher onto the base is also extremely easy and there is no way to mess it up. In fact, it won’t turn on if it is incorrectly installed. Ultimately, this is a really well thought out unit and one that I really enjoy using. Clean up is also a snap. If you rinse all the parts right when you are done, sometimes you won’t even need soap. Otherwise, rinse it the best you can, then put a “small” touch of liquid dish soap inside with some warm water and run it with the manual dial set on one for a few seconds to deep clean. Just be sure the top is on! There really isn’t anything bad to say about this blender. It has handled everything I have tried easily. It even includes an outer shield to bring the noise level down a touch. While it is still loud with it on, it is certainly not as loud as with it off. In other words, there is a noticeable difference when you have it on. If I was to pick on one nit-picky thing, I would say that it is pretty big. To me that is fine and in no way a negative. To others that may not have the counter space, or room beneath their cabinets, you may want to measure before buying. All in all I would easily rank this as one of the best blenders on the market today. It is made by a great company, it looks awesome, and most importantly, it works awesome. Chop, chop!

Hands Down The Best Blender I've EVER Used

OK, so I thought I knew what a good blender can do. I even have a modern blender with lots of features, and a high wattage motor. But much as I thought it was special, it can’t hold a candle to this Philips Avance Blender. Nor should it, to be honest. This isn’t your average priced blender. It’s an expensive luxury, but oh so fantastic if you use a blender a lot like we do. I have a fruit smoothie every morning for breakfast, so having a blender that really blends well is important. And does this baby ever blend well. It simply makes the most incredibly smooth smoothie I’ve ever made at home. I chalk that up to the massively powerful 1800W motor and sharp stainless-steel blades. The pitcher is very large at 69-oz capacity. And it’s made of impact resistant materials that are free of BPA and other you don’t want them to leach into your food compounds. All the removable parts are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. You get 10 speeds along with four pre-programmed modes for Smoothie, Frozen Dessert, Soup and Nuts. Also included is an easy to understand, nicely written user guide, along with a recipe booklet filled with easy to follow step-by-step recipes. The look of the Avance Blender is modern and sleek. It will compliment any modern (or not so modern) kitchen. It’s finished in brushed stainless steel. The power button on the side turns it on. The round controller clicks through the 10 speeds with a solid and confidence inspiring click or you can choose the simpler method by just choosing one of the four pre-programmed modes. You also get what they call a Noise Dome. It attaches to the base of the blender to muffle the sound when you blend. I actually had high hopes for this, as our cats aren’t particularly fond of the noise a blender makes. The Noise Dome sadly won’t work well for us. Installed on the blender, it won’t fit under the cabinets in our modern (built in 2016) kitchen. And to be honest, it’s not easy to put on or take off. Had Philips made the blender including the Noise Dome, just an inch shorter, we could install it and leave it. Since it doesn’t fit, we’d have to put it on for each use and take it off when done. The dome is now stored in a shelf in the panty as it’s pretty much useless to us. This is the only miss with this otherwise incredible blender. In all honesty however, the dome has nothing to do with how well the blender does its job. It does its job SUPERBLY. While by no means inexpensive, we’re beyond pleased with the Philips Avance Blender. It’s solidly made and blends better than any blender we’ve ever used. Our experience with other Philips products has always been positive so this blender should last the test of time. With that, paying this much for something you might use daily which won’t likely ever need to be replaced is actually a smart investment.

This machine is definitely a work horse and is comparable to the other high end brands within this price point. That’s for sure. You need horse power this has it. You need almost every setting. This has it. The buttons are a bit old school for me but work well and probably won’t break while a full touch sensitive button will eventually. Note that this is a very large high performance blender. Which is a great thing because you can fit plenty of items or fluid in it. But it will take up a lot of space. Not a bad thing for most. Me and my wife made ice cream shakes, smoothies, healthy spinach-fruit-nuts health drinks and even margaritas. And yes this Philips avance blender did amazingly. No issues whatsoever. U will have to learn how to use the dial and settings. But that’s true for more higher end products. The only down side is the volume. It’s not as loud as older lower level priced blenders. But it states it can run while your family sleeps. That’s a stretch. I was expecting whisper quiet(kinda). But it’s not horribly loud. So it’s fine. Overall. We are very happy. No real complaints. Very well built and heavy. I know it will last yrs to come. If you cook like my wife and love making specialty drinks like myself this is for you.

THE BREAKDOWN: I have never owned a high end blender but this is pretty close to as advertised. The packaging was very well done and just a side note the box was very large… In the box was everything needed to get this product up and running. The setup was very easy and I was up and running in just a matter of minutes. I did have an issue installing the noise dome. It has 3 places that stick out and that part slides in the base blender. For me the dome was little difficult and the little plastic pieces on the very end came off but it still worked as intended. I used this blender for preparing the tomatoes from my garden for canning, blending up smoothies and preparing my morning protein smoothie. I have to say that it pretty much lives up to the advertisement. It made quick work of the veggies, fruit and ice and when I say quick work I mean like 2 pulses. I have to admit when I unpacked it I thought the blender would be like my $20 blender I have had for year because it just has the blades at the bottom. Boy was I wrong this thing mixed a whole pitcher of tomatoes in just a few pulses. I was simply amazed. I would have to say that “whisper quiet” would be a stretch. With the dome on it is very quiet especially in comparison to my old blender. The blender itself is very modern, sleek and could fit in a high end kitchen very nicely. The preprogrammed features worked as intended and the selector was very easy to understand and use. PRO’s: -Very well built and stylish -Setup was quick and easy -68 ounce blending cup -10 speeds -Dishwasher safe and removable parts -Noise Dome -Recipe booklet -Makes quick work of anything you throw in it CON’s: -I had a little trouble installing the noise dome SUMMARY: Overall, I feel that this product is really good and has a great fit and finish. I like all the features, I feel that there is not too many but just enough. I would definitely recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for something like this.

Alright folk's it is review time. And the item I will be reviewing is the Philips - Avance Collection 10-Speed Blender. I really wouldn't consider myself a chef or anything even close to that but with this blender you really don't have to be a chef to use it. So now let's get this review started. I have a preference for the brand but rest assured this review will be unbiased. As stated earlier I am most certainly not a chef but the reason I wanted this specific blender is for its power and the Philips brand because it is known for making quality products. After spending a considerable amount of time with the blender I have been able to make a decision on whether or not this was right for me. :::General Impressions::: I have spent a good amount of time with the blender and I hate cooking or making stuff in the kitchen because of the cleanup afterwards. Honestly though I have been spending more time in the kitchen making all kinds of smoothies and sweets. This blender has 1800 Watts and can handle whatever you put into it. It is most certainly nice knowing you can put a bunch of ice, nuts or other solids and it will absolutely dice it all with ease. Now some people will read this and say big deal! any blender can do that and my reply would no not all blenders are created equally. A lot of the entry level or basic models which I have owned in the past could barely handle a few ice cubes, forget about nuts. Most blenders do not have the raw power that this blender does. most blenders on the market are basic and have push buttons. On this model you'll find that you have soft touch buttons for the mode and a twist know for controlling the speed. And a digital lcd display. The Philips avance is advertised as being quiet and any person looking at this would likely look a this and go yeah sure yeah right this couldn't possible be quiet. I was skeptical myself and was doubtful. But I have to give credit where credit is due and the dome that covers the blender does what it was built to do and that is sound dampening. It really does help eliminate a whole lot of noise. I wish i had a sound level meter to measure just how quiet this blender is as opposed to the other blenders on the market. I love the dome but having that dome can come at a price and that is that it takes up a lot of space on your counter top but in a ll honesty it isn't a big deal and I can accept that trade off. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros: - 1800W is a lot of slicing and dicing power - Quiet as advertised - Aesthetics as usual Philips makes beautiful products that you wan in your home. :::Cons::: - I wouldn't really list this as a con but this blender sure does take up a lot of space due to the dome that is on top for the sound dampening. :::Final Thoughts::: I hate cooking or doing anything related to cooking or being in the kitchen. But I just love this blender, I am very busy individual that makes a lot of smoothies and protein shakes. So having this powerful blender I can finally add all kinds of ingredients to my smoothies and protein shakes and the end result is always good. I find myself adding more fresh ingredients like walnuts, peanuts and what not instead of the processed peanut butter and other things. I really love this if you couldn't tell. A neat little included bonus was the mini cookbook like guide for making various smoothies, drinks, and other baked goods that you could use to make with the aid of the blender. :::TL:DR::: If you are shopping for a quiet, fast and powerful blender that looks great and works like a dream then choose the Philips Avance Collection 10-Speed Blender. The old saying is very true as in most cases you get what you paid for.

We have been in the market for a blender and landed on this beauty, the Philips Avance Blender, after reading other users reviews. Long story, short, it has not disappointed. Out of the box you can really tell the quality of the blender by it's sturdiness and high quality material they used to develop it. After reading through some of the cook book provided in the box, my wife and I were excited to start using it. We started with a egg bite recipe we already used on our older blender and the Avance handled it with ease. I then decided to make a green shake using fresh vegetables which I would previously juice first and the Avance was able to puree the ingredients which is great because I may have no use for my juicer any longer and am able to get the most out of the vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc.. Anything I have tried in the blender thus far has been easy due to it's power, 2.4 hp and 35000 rpm, and tasted wonderful. The included cook book also includes recipes for recovery drinks, alcoholic drinks, soup, frozen yogurt, etc. The large hard plastic enclosure helps keep the noise down while also protecting it from any accidents. The only issue I have with it is that it's quite large due to the clear enclosure; it will not fit under our standard cabinets as you'll see in the pictures. You can also see it's size in the pictures in comparison to other large kitchen appliances like a stand mixer. I would recommend this blender to anyone in the market for a high quality, industrial grade blender. Just remember, you get what you pay for and for me this was well worth the price in comparison to other industrial strength blenders.

This blender is not only amazing, it’s impressive. We have thrown everything at it that we would normally purchase from gym bar (protein shakes), smoothie/ice cream shops, and yes that famous place we all know about that sells frozen (frap) coffee. There’s a lot of power in this thing, we have only broken the seal on the 5 preset options make it very easy to use. It does have a dial to select your own speed settings if need be, we tend to use the presets more so than the others as everything comes out perfect. It’s very easy to clean and the sound dampener makes a huge difference. The cost may scare you away, but once you’ve tried this, think you will be hooked…gym buffs this is the same blender they use for your protein shakes. Do not let the price scare you away as it is worth every penny.

I have had several high dollar blenders and mixers in my kitchen, some of which have cost substantially more than the Phillips. That being said, the blender occupying my counter right now and into the foreseeable future is the Phillips Avance Collection 10 Speed Blender. There is a lot to like about this blender! The blending cup is a big 68-ouncer and holds a lot of ingredients. I have a drink that I make every few days that is composed of whole apples, pears, celery, romaine, cilantro, and parsley (see the picture). This is one of the first blenders I have had that has room for all those ingredients at once l and can blend it into a beautiful green smoothie without having to blend some of it, add additional ingredients, and then blend it some more. The blender comes with a tamper, a plastic rod that can be inserted through the top of the mixing cup to push ingredients down into the blades or just move them around so that the spinning action of the blades catches them. There are five pre-programmed buttons on the front that allow the user to choose between smoothie, ice crush, soup, frozen dessert, and nuts. The knob controls the variable speed setting of the mixer with a countdown timer. The pre-programmed buttons were sufficient for what I did. The first thing I did was add the fruits and veggies I mentioned earlier with some water and lemon juice and hit "Smoothie." The mixer cycled up and down a few times before whipping up to full speed. Made a beautiful, consistent smoothie. I've had a couple of very high-dollar mixers that struggled with this recipe, the Phillips did not. It was a smoothie beast. It ground the seeds up, it took all the strings out of the celery, and it did it in only 60 seconds. Other mixers I've had would kind of gross me out when I would be drinking a smoothie and get a chunk of something weird in a swallow. That has not happened yet with the Phillips. It does an amazing job with smoothies! Each pre-programmed button did its job extremely well. I made ice cream using half n half, condensed milk, ice cubes, vanilla, and frozen strawberries. Added everything to the blending cup and hit the frozen dessert button. A couple of minutes later, we had some delicious strawberry vanilla ice cream. Ice was crushed to fine chunks using the ice crush button. I threw some broth, tomato, carrot, celery, onion, garlic, squash, pepper, cabbage, mushroom and seasonings into the blending cup and hit the soup button. When steam started coming out of the top, I shut it off and had a delicious soup that I added tortilla strips to. I wasn't able to find any weaknesses in this unit. It runs great, mixes and blends whatever I need it to, and looks fantastic on my countertop. It has a pretty stainless steel look, with black accents that looks right at home with my Kitchen Aide appliances. All in all, this is a five-star product for me.

I used this blender every morning for a smoothie containing varied frozen fruits and some other stuff. There's no lack of power in this blender. Whatever you throw at it, it will obliterate it. That being said, it will do so very loudly, so taking advantage of the 'dome' is pretty much required. This is both a blessing and a curse however, as having the dome always attached makes it just a bit too tall to fit under our kitchen cabinets. Cleaning is awesome as long as you have a dishwasher. Just throw the blender and the cover in a normal wash cycle and you're good to go. I even did the 'clean while running' method (see the manual) and that worked better than expected. If you have to hand wash however, the lower portion of the blender doesn't come apart, so cleaning around the blades could be a challenge. Speaking of those blades, while very good at what they are designed to do, it feels like they also do not reach low (or wide?) enough into the unit itself in certain applications. I attempted to make some almond butter (come on, there's NUT button, you can't NOT use that once), and that turned into a 1/2 hour of scraping obliterated almond off the sides and bottom and reblending over and over. At least with the smoothies I just throw the stuff in, hit the button, and do something else for a 2 min while it runs the cycle. I think this is a great replacement for the traditional glass, entire thing comes apart blender we have. It's also exceptionally NOISY, and certainly has more opportunity to leak from the bottom (that's can't happen with this model). Best guess, I'd say this unit could probably blend at least twice as much as our old one too.

The Philips Avance Collection High Speed Blender is more than your standard blender that sits tucked away in your cabinet for years. With a powerful 1800 Watt motor, it comes equipped to handle many different tasks and handle them well. I have been an avid smoothie maker for years. Whether it was a protein smoothie after workouts, a breakfast one, or a dessert one for the kids, I gave our blenders a beating and never was fully satisfied. Part of the problem was the performance of the blenders that I was using. I have used full-sized blenders and personal ones, but they all had the same problem. One of the frozen ingredients in there wouldn’t blend properly. When that happens, I found myself making a ton of noise and overworking the motor to try and blend it in. The second issue was the noise factor while others are sleeping. With the Philips Avance Collection High Speed Blender, both of these issues are alleviated. Let me first start off by saying that dome is a game changer. I am no longer concerned with making my shakes early in the morning or late at night when people are sleeping. The noise reduction is amazing. I took the dome on and off while in cycle and the difference is clear. Another good perk here is that you still have direct access to insert more ingredients through the dome and the lid of the blender. There is even a tamper to help push things down when needed. As far as the blending goes, the Philips Avance Collection High Speed Blender is a beast. The single serving option takes a little getting used to, but making mass quantities is not a major task here. Smoothies, shakes, and other frozen beverages have not been an issue at all. They have all turned out great. There are even some great recipes for them and more in a recipe book that is included. My wife and I are already looking forward to making some soups, butters, and ice creams. Others have done so with ease according to their reviews so we are excited about that. We fully intend to use this to its fullest potential. Here are some other details that the Philips Avance Collection High Speed Blender has that can make a kitchen feel like one that belongs to a professional: LED Digital UI Screen for easy use 10 speed settings via turn knob 5 pre-programmed modes with push buttons Tamper Measured pitcher Dome for noise reduction Accessibility holes through dome and blender lid Automatic shut-off There’s so much the Philips Avance Collection High Speed Blender can do and I can’t wait to try something new as time goes on. I highly recommend that all levels of “cooks” have one in their kitchen. You won’t be disappointed.

This is one powerful blender and my first high end blender. I have used this to make smoothies and shakes as well as some sauces and curry bases for cooking. It does a great job of blending anything and everything. Being in an apartment, I am always cautious of the blender noise disturbing the neighbors. With this blender, it comes with a dome/cover and it reduces the noise well. I really like that and don't have to feel bad about the disturbance anymore. It comes with 5 pre-programmed modes for blending options as well as manual mode with variable speed. I have only used the manual mode since I like blending the food at various speeds depending on what I am making. Compared to the smoothies I made using Magic Bullet, this Philips blender does crush all the ingredients smoothly and I haven't had any chunky mix. Also, this blender is very easy to assemble and this blender won't turn on if you didn't install it correctly. Cleaning this blender is a breeze. If you rinse it or soak it right after you use, the food doesn't stick to the jar at all. This is no small unit, so it does take quite a bit of counter space and is heavy. It also comes with a spatula that is used as a stirrer and to push the ingredients. My next experiments with this blender is to make frozen desserts, margaritas, maybe almond butter, etc. and see how it turns out. Overall, this is a very powerful premium blender and can be a great accessory for everyday cooking.

After first receiving a defective unit and having it replaced by Philips, I was eager to try out this blender. FYI–The defective unit's blade wasn't attached properly and it spun freely from the drive stem. That being said, I have several other items in the Philips Avance collection of appliances, which I've had great results from so I wanted to give it another try. This blender has a very nice industrial design that mirrors the other Avance products and its materials are top notch (except the pitcher). First off, this blender is BIG. It's very bulky and the blender jar seems a bit over-oversized to me. Also, the jar's handle construction feels cheap and creaks where I'm holding it. I'm not too confident in it's construction, and at $130, it's quite costly to replace after the warranty expires. The base unit is much larger than my previous blender yet it isn't any more powerful. But I'm willing to let that slide as I'm not losing anything but counter space. It will barely fit under standard cabinets if you do not use the sound shield. But, I strongly recommend using it. The first time I got my working unit up and running, I had to stop the pre-programmed cycle early out of fear my apartment neighbors would be soon knocking on my door. Believe me, IT'S LOUD; way more than any other blender I've owned. So, I moved it away from the wall and onto my kitchen island and put on the sound shield where it stays. Hopefully I won't have any sound issues from now on. Thankfully, it delivers on the power. I have made a few shakes and smoothies with it and honestly, I don't let the entire pre-programmed cycle fully run. It seems too long and my shakes are better if I don't. Regardless, it works well and I'll keep trying out other recipes with its pre-programmed modes. Overall, since moving it and adding the included shield, I'm pretty happy so far with this blender and hope it holds up well over time.

The build and quality of the product is indeed premium. You can tell when unboxing on how well each component is built. So much so that the lid is the biggest hurdle of this blender. Be ready to give your arms a workout prior to any smoothies because this thing is suctioned on top like no ones business. I have tried different angles, removing the middle part to make sure it wasn't a seal issue. No the cap is really sealed on when it's on. I made a single serving of smoothie. It was very easy to use with the smoothie button and machine was not as loud as you would think by the size of it. This blender seems to really work if you intend to use it for a party of or a family of 5 or more. Making one smoothie in this is just overkill in my opinion. Another plus is the ease of cleanup. Meaning the base is nice and flat and you are able to get to the nooks and crannies of the unit and start fresh without tasting the ingredients that were used before. All in, a good product, but not intended for small family. This is almost...almost commercial grade. I actually got the unit to actually overheat by attempting to make a frozen beverage. The unit overheated and the manual said to wait 30 mins before rebooting the blender. By that time, the frozen ingredients will no longer be frozen. So it gets a good rating from me. Would I recommend it? Not for a small family. However I would definitely recommend it if you are intending to use it a lot for entertaining purposes. I mean like 5+ events like holidays and bbqs.

This unit is no joke when it comes to power. It has power to spare. It has all of the usual modes that you would expect (to make a smoothie, for instance) - and it has no issues in the blending department. It comes with a "shroud of silence" -- a clear attachment that surrounds the blender to reduce noise that comes with the territory when blending at high speeds. This does make noticeable difference in reducing the sound - but it results in a much bulkier footprint. Since we are a bit light on cupboard space, we tend to run without the "shroud of silence" and deal with the noise. Each Fall I make large batches of butternut squash soup. This requires a substantial blend (for many batches), so this will warrant the use of the shroud to reduce the noise. (FYI, last year's batch of squash soup did in my Blendtek blender, so we are looking for better results this year.) I definitely recommend this beast of a blender...

This blender is awesome. I had a Ninja blender before and I hated how loud it was when blending anything with ice. The dome on the Philips blender helped a lot with noise reduction. I love the different mixing modes. My daughter and I drink smoothies daily and I can’t say enough how well this blender does. There were no chunks of ice, fruit, or seeds. Everything was nice and smooth. The only negative I’d have to say is the size of the blender. With the dome on its pretty tall. I was able to clean out a cabinet though so I could store it. It was well worth the hassle. Two thumbs up!

Review for Philips - Avance Collection 10-Speed Blender - Stainless Steel/Black Wow! if you want to make great smoothies, icy drinks, or more sophisticated things like nut butters, then this is the blender for you. I’ve never used a blender with this much power. I’ve been through three blenders in the last five years, so I think I’ve given some of the top brands a good go; they all claim to have “extra power” for tough jobs, but they are pretty much the same: sufficient but not extraordinary. I can’t say that about this blender; it truly is MORE powerful than any other blender I’ve tried. First, it’s easy to use with a simple 10-speed dial with optional pulse. It also has several programmed functions for smoothies, frozen drinks, nut butters, crushing ice, and soups. The display is easy to read and the controls feel good. It made short work of a peanut butter smoothie with banana and ice. Delicious! The most obvious additional feature is the “noise reducing dome” - a wonderful feature if you’re an early riser and want your morning smoothie without waking the household. The dome works well but does make the blender feel “extra-large” on the countertop. My favorite accessory included is billed as a spatula, but it’s so much more. Its a paddle/pusher/stirrer designed to be able to be inserted into the blender and to move the ingredients around. It’s perfectly designed to reach almost, but not quite, to the blade mechanism. You can swirl it around and the umbrella like top keeps it from falling in too far and prevents splash from the blender’s contents. Brilliant! I think every blender should come with one of these! This is certainly a premium blender, and the price reflects that. I’ve had experience with many Philips products and am alway impressed with the premium quality that comes with the price. Careful design, thoughtful documentation, and extras like a recipe book make it worthwhile!

Simply put... this is a great blender. It's very powerful and really gets the job done. I started doing Daily Harvest, with their smoothies and soups, and this blender is able to whip everything up in a snap. What really makes this blender user-friendly are the pre-programmed buttons. My first thought, when I was using the Smoothie mode was, it's like set it, and forget it. As for the Noise Reducing Dome... I just took that thing and put it away in a top cupboard. I tried it once and I did not notice a decrease in the noise level with or without it. The blender itself seems to have less of a harsh noice than my older blender, so that was nice. However, putting on the dome just made the noise sound more hollow, not quieter. It's hard to explain, but I don't find it useful at all. As I mentioned though, the blender itself is awesome. We weren't really using our old blender and was just keeping it inside our cupboard. We're finding this blender very useful so it has found a permanent home on our countertop. It's stainless steel appearance "blends" in very well with our existing kitchen appliances. Highly recommend.

After having a few Ninja blenders I was ready to see what Philips could bring to the table for higher end small kitchen appliances. This thing has more than enough power to crush chop blend and do whatever you need it to. The only drawbacks are, and these are definitely worth while trade offs mind you, but you have to dedicate some real estate to this thing. Like a large chunk of counter and possibly not under the cabinets depending on your arrangement. Also keeping me from rating this machine at 5 stars was the inclusion of an extra enclosure/shield. Rather than try to create a more quiet blender, they included an extra contraption that goes on the outside of the main blending vessel. This seems like a poor solution to me. It does help, however. Overall I like the Avance line of kitchen stuff and this fits right in. I’m also not crazy about a selector dial after having the ninja touch screen. This blender IS well made and won’t steer you wrong if you’re willing to make the compromises it demands.

I going to keep this review short. This blender has enough power to blend twigs into a nice smoothie with the right amount of milk and ice. The family has blended bananas and strawberries to make milkshakes and we haven't tasted any type of pulp or remnants of either fruit. No crunky blocks of ice either. Everything it has blended so far has been very smooth. The blender is HUGE. It only fits under the cabinet on the kitchen counter when you remove the lid to store it. This blender is pretty much a commercial blender that is being used for home use. And it's loud without the dome being attached. Despite everything I have stated, the blender has been used everyday by our family. It's not going to placed in the bottom cabinet door and collect dust. It's pricey but it does the job and then some.
