First (but not last) Smart Bulb

This has been our Christmas of Smartness. Between Ring bundle and a number of Echo devices we have almost got all we need for our home. Most have been bought from Best Buy in Hiram, GA. Some bought on-line to pick up locally. One of the free items that came with the bundles was the Phillips white smart bulb. We placed it in our master bedroom by my wife. She has bad knees and has a potty chair beside the bed. The availability to have voice control in the bed and the dimmable bulb has made a great difference for us. Only regret is that I didn't buy the 4 pack of bulbs for $40 when I picked up the free one.

I got this Philips Hue Smart bulb included with the Echo Show 2nd gen on Father's day sale. It's bright and you can use Alexa to adjust the brightness and turn it on or off. It does not need a hub so if you're looking for an affordable smart bulb I'd highly recommend this!

This review is a bit different in that I received two of these bulbs as part of two separate Echo Plus purchases, and then I bought a third bulb ... but now I'm not using any one of them. They worked GREAT, which is why I'm giving them 5 stars. The dimming range is excellent, they have no problem working (very reliably) with Alexa (via the Echo Plus 2nd Gen), and they produce a very pleasant light. So why aren't I using them anymore? My "smart house" is primarily based upon an ADT Pulse system, which is Z-Wave based (not Zigbee based, like the Hue bulbs). I also have a couple of 2.4Ghz wireless routers in the house, which is the same frequency used by Zigbee. Although Alexa can easily communicate with the Hue bulbs (and also with my Pulse hub), the Pulse hub can't communicate with the Hue bulbs like it can with my 36 other Z-Wave switches and dimmers throughout the house). That meant that my Pulse Z-Wave hub would not be able to control the Hue bulbs in the event of an ADT alarm or event (such as some emergency in which I wanted all lights to come on at once.) So, for consistency, I decided to stick with only Z-Wave devices, and subsequently I replaced the Hue bulbs. (Z-Wave bulbs are available, but I don't believe any are made by Phillips.) Also, I wanted to avoid the potential of cross-interference between the 2.4Ghz Zigbee based Hue bulbs and my home WiFi. (Z-Wave devices work on a different frequency.) Admittedly, I didn't notice any immediate evidence of interference, but I have read that it's quite possible and I didn't want to take any chances.
Regardless, I wanted to write this review because the Hue bulbs *are* excellent, and if you've already bought into the Zigbeee ecosystem, or if you're using just an Echo Plus (2nd Gen) as your hub, or even if you own something like a Samsung SmartThings hub and don't mind using a mix of the two technologies, then you won't be disappointed with the Hue system.
(P.S. I've given my three Hue bulbs to a friend, who is extremely happy with them.)

Just love these Phillips Hue light bulbs - hooked up to my cell phone and Google Assistant. Can have them turning on and off automatically, or can turn them on/off while I am away. Great way to make your house look like you are there - while you can be miles away. What a nice way to have the entry lit up if I am coming home late. No more coming home to a dark house. I have them all over the house, plus a few colored ones for variety.

Got the Philips - Hue White A19 Smart LED Bulb - CA Only - White as a free bonus with my Amazon Show purchase. Easy to setup right out of the box, and puts out a nice white light without any fuss. Note that if you want to hook it up to your Smart Home System, you will need the Philips Bridge and the Philips Hue App.

I like the fact that this requires the least amount of work to set up. Furthermore, they are dimmable through Alexa by specifying the amount of light you like or percent you want to dim. I need to get me a pack of these to replace my not so smart LED lights.

Contrary to many reviews, this bulb does not require a Phillips hub/bridge in order to use Alexa to turn the bulbs on & off, and use the dimming function, if you have an Echo Plus (2nd Gen), or Echo Show (2nd Gen). These (2) new Amazon Alexa devices have a built-in Zigbee Hub which works perfectly with Phillips Hue Bulbs.

If you like smart home lighting features, this bulb will be a nice add to your home. It also supports dimming. Not for you if you don't have a Hue hub, but if you do, this works. Great thing is it can be used any where a bulb light is capable.

I received these as a gift and love having these bulbs where I can in the house. It allows me to control the lights with Alexa and gives me the feature of dimming even if the light was dimmable before. Only thing is they are pricey.

This product functions flawlessly with Alexa and appears to have nearly full range dimming when replacing an incandescent lamp. I do not know how it will work when used for a reverse phase dimmed application, but it dims nicely when used in a forward phase dimming application. It is also nice to know that the lights can be scheduled to turn On via the Alexa app. I question whether this product will last 22 years when used 3 hours per day, but I will update this review if it fails in an unreasonable amount of time.

Alexa turns the light on and off by voice command. Alexa can also dim the light with whatever percentage of light you want.
