    The Hue starter kit is the most economical way to get your feet wet in the Hue ecosystem. You get the bridge as well as 3 bulbs for less than the cost of buying all of these parts separately, but even at the kit price, this is still ultimately a really expensive box of light bulbs. I love being able to turn off the lights in multiple places by saying, "Hey Siri - goodnight," but at the current bulb price, it's going to be a while before I would consider adopting this technology throughout my house. To sum it up, Hue is a great gimmick for one room, but too cost-prohibitive to implement in an entire home.
