Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Hue Lightstrip Plus's brightness, ease of use, and the ambiance it creates. Many also appreciate its compatibility with other smart home systems and the relatively simple installation process. However, some customers find the price to be high, and a few have noted concerns about the adhesive strength and the length of the lightstrip. Overall, the positive feedback on brightness, ease of use, and ambiance outweighs the negative comments regarding price and adhesive.

I been wanting to buy these hue lights for quite a while now until this past black Friday that they were on sale I went for it. They are amazing. I put them on the back of my dresser along the edge and work perfectly well. I downloaded the app and got the switch accessory for it and they change light just perfect. I can be away from home and still set up the light to my like. I am a big movie perfect when it comes to being at home and relaxing so I set the lights to my mood and voila! I love having the feel of being in a cozy room and the lighting just helps to do just that. Works great with the switch dimmer and you definitely need to get the hue bridge because without it, it won't work. The switch is an added accessory but it is really convenient because I get home from work late at night and don't feel like taking out my phone to use the app, so the switch dimmer turns it on just as soon as I enter my room. I have them connected with the hue go lights and work amazing. I highly recommend if you want to have that feel of a cozy room.

    HUE Lightstrip

The Philips Hue Light strip is a great addition to any room. The light is flexible and easy to install. When it's not on sale, it's a little more on the expensive side. You get what you pay for. The lights are bright and vibrant and will light up any space you put them in. I will be purchasing additional light strips for other areas of my home.

The Philips hue light strip was easy to install and use, they look great on my desk while using my computer. a definite buy for that RGB look, the only downside is the price. for what you get in the box I think they need to put a longer light strip to make the price acceptable.

These are really great lights and have a wide range of color options and brightness settings. The only cons for this product are that the adhesive on the light strip is not very sticky, so expect it to not hold for too long. Also, the price is way too much for this. It should at the very most be half of what it is offered at.

    Nearly Perfect Lighting Solution

For quite some time now, I have been hooked into the Philips Hue line-up. I started with the starter kits and started out with a bulb or two. It quickly grew from there to having a full Hue ecosystem around the house. This light strip is the latest addition. I initially intended to use this as TV backlighting, but when I spread it on the floor to test it at home, I was amazed by how bright they were and almost thought of using it for some other purpose instead. But I went ahead and use it for TV backlighting and have no regrets. It simply works, is bright, and love the ability to create scenes. The only downside to using this as TV backlighting is that it can be challenging to curve it in the corners, but you can find a way and that would mean leaving a small section of it unglued so you can bend it thru a corner. This lightstrip is a bit pricey though. I had to put it at the back of a 75" television so I had to buy this and an extension kit. Even with two combined, it was just barely enough for it to go up one side, run across the entire length on top, and then come down the other side. It's not enough to completely run across both sides, so you'll have to estimate. But it should be adequate as the strip is very bright at night. Overall, I'm happy with this product and would still buy this if I have to do things over again.

Works great like all of my other Philips Hue lights. Not sure if I really needed it, but the lights add a great color accent to the room. Kind of pricey, however, and hope to see the price go down with time.

I’m a fan of the Hue system! Lots of color hue bulbs. I use the Hue Bloom for accent lighting behind my TV. Gave the Hue strips a try recently - and like all the other Hue products, these are overpriced but awesome! Have the lightstrip with an extension running under my bed to give it a nice accent. Just fyi: I got a great deal as I got them on pre Black Friday Best Buy sale at $49.99 these are a great deal! UPDATE: Replaced Bloom lights that I was using for TV accent and put the LightStrip behind my TV for accent - and it works even better! 65” TV - the lightstrip covers about 1/2 of the back. But it works out nicely with top and half of each side covered :)

This is a great product, quality is very good, awesome colors and easy to install! I regret the fact that hue lights products work only with wifi, which make it useless when you lose power or wifi connexion. And also i had a great deal (50%) but i would not buy it full price.

Long time owner of Hue products. They are expensive but I would call them the BEST out there. Best native app (but 3rd party apps are better), and very high quality lights. This new and improved light strip is much brighter than gen 1, and has the capability to do a full range of warm-to-cool whites. It's a great improvement upon the older model in every way, plus it's extendable with Hue extension strips. It also has a different form factor plug and Zigbee radio. It's all integrated into a wall wart, while the old model had a small wall wart and in-line zigbee radio.

    Fun with alexa and harmony

I’m using this as a bezel light for my sony 930e. It does help with eye strain. Phillips integrates well with harmony and alexa so I have lots of options for control. I haven’t had a chance to try out apps like sync my lights that change the color based on what time in the movie you are, but I’ve heard that works well. I took off 1 star because at regular price, it’s prohibitively expensive. You also can’t hook two of the longer strips together, only the extensions, making you spend even more on the entire thing than needed. It doesn’t go around 90 degree corners in the same plane well, wasting even more length. I also don’t think the 3M adhesive is going to hold up well over time. I’ve got a bunch of command strips waiting to patch when sections fail. But overall, it was easy to set up with my pre-existing hub. I’ll watch for a sale again, I may want to use this for my under cabinet lighting.

I have a Philips bias but these install easy, setup easy, are a good brightness and generate all colors on the spectrum very well. Highly recommended. 4 stars only due to price being about 2-3x other available options, but this is the best one out there.

    Version 2.0 Is Much Better!

The LightStrip Plus (version 2.0) of the Hue LightStrips is a marked improvement over the previous version. The strips are much brighter than the original and allow expansion of the strip for areas that may require a couple extra feet of light. The downside is that the expansion strips are overpriced ($30 per 1 foot segment). If you're looking to connect more than 3 expansion strips, it is simply to simply buy another 6 meter strip.

Some of you may be skeptical to purchase these lights as there are a plethora of much cheaper and possibly more versatile options available on Amazon etc... This review will mainly tackle this notion. These strips first of all are BRIGHT. Make sure to check each section of these lights when first opening to make sure every part is working. Back to my points, I ended up choosing these over the various other versions mainly because of its interoperability/integration with other devices, Android, and iOS. There are of course cheaper options out there but this is what I believe to be the main selling point of the Phillips Hue. One other thing I have often seen is that these lights technically aren't as versatile as others (at least easily) because they do not have any manufacturer specific L adapters that allow for wrapping around corners. You can also only shorten these lights by cutting at certain areas and there is a bit of distance between them before you can cut some off. Other RGB lights often give you the capability to customize more in this area and with L adapters at that. Still, I do feel that the integration outweighs all of this. The fact that I can control all my lights together and separately with one go to app is great. I also believe that the support that Phillips provides is great and they will only continue updating and adding onto their item roster. Something I also wish this could do is change lights in certain areas of the strip itself (let's say half white and half purple). Even then, I love the light strip and it has truly fulfilled my minimalist style needs and coolness factor. I've integrated probably half my apartment now and since I bought my first kit I have been addicted ever since. Something also to be aware of is that I am not sure myself how long the adhesive is going to be good for though I have reattached it probably 2-3 times and it is still sticking which is great. Pair your purchase with the Geek Squad protection, which by the way is a replacement plan, and you've guaranteed yourself some pretty nice things for the next 3-4 years with no worries. These also have a pretty long lifetime but I still turn mine off if I am not using them. Again, this product is great... give it a try and I guarantee you won't return it back to the store!
