Customers are satisfied with the 5100 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver's shave quality, ease of use, and long battery life. Many appreciate its affordability and the ability to use it wet or dry. However, some customers expressed disappointment with the lack of an attached trimmer and the absence of a travel case. A few also mentioned that the shaver could benefit from increased power.

I bought this electric shaver, so I could get away from using blades anymore. It's so easy to use and so easy to keep clean. I am now shaving every day now.

A Great Close Shave with Minimum Effort

I purchased the Norelco 5100 to replace an older 7310 Norelco shaver that needed the blades replaced. I normally purchased the lower end models thinking that there really couldn't be that much of a difference in performance. Boy was I wrong. The first thing I noticed is how much better the Norelco 5100 fits in your hand as well as how light it is compared to previous models. It is also much quieter than other models I have used. And finally it really does give a great close shave with a minimum amount of effort. The only thing I don't like is that you have to lift off the head to put the trimmer on. It's not that it is hard to do but it seems to me that eventually the piece that the shaver head and trimmer fit into to could eventually wear out. That's the reason I only gave it 4 stars.

This Norelco works great and gives you a close shave in a short period of time. It also works in the shower and it's operation is quiet. The charge lasts a very long time. The beard attachment is a little clumsy, but works ok.

I've been wanting to try electric for a while simply because shaving is a chore! The razor itself is well made and comfortable. Disassembly and cleaning of the shave head is a bit fiddly but no big hassle. The trimmer head is absolutely worthless. It couldn't give me a nice edge even if I threatened it. Time to break out a manual razor. Battery life is fine, quieter than I expected (sonicare is noisier). Shaving both dry and wet is nice but unsurprisingly wet with lather is better. I never get quite the cleanliness of a manual razor but I have less of a problem shaving more frequently so it seems a fair trade off (hair stays shorter more consistently). I haven't got any nicks from shaving which is great, a couple of minor shaving burns but nothing more. Overall good, but not great. Curious to know what the value curve looks like (cost/performance) on the more expensive ones. Maybe we'll see.

Another Great Razor From Philips Norelco!

I'm 60 years old and have been using the Norelco razors since I started shaving. I've tried others, but nothing I've found shaves as comfortably or as smoothly as the Triple Header design that Norelco invented many years ago. This, believe it or not, is only my third Norelco since I started shaving! They last a long time and hold up very well. Much lighter weight than before, but the performance and cordless ability are fabulous! I'd recommend this razor to anyone! BTW... if you hear that it takes a few weeks for your skin to adapt to a different razor, that can be very true. But, after that period of time (where you might feel a little bit of irritation), everything is a breeze and you should be able to have perfect shaves forever! This was not the case for me with this one as I've been using the same triple-header design for so many years and I'm already used to it. No other electric razor has given me such great close shaves. I highly recommend!!!

Good . . . For an electric shaver

As long as you're willing to accept that an electric shaver is never quite going to shave as close and thoroughly as a traditional blade, this is a pretty good razor. The battery lasts quite a while on each charge, and it is often very convenient to shave in the shower, with shaving cream and all. I usually had to do a tiny bit of touch up with a traditional blade every time I got out of the shower though. Also, if I hadn't shaved in a few days, there was no way the electric razor was going to work without it hurting more than I could tolerate. Of course, these are all things I think you just have to expect and accept with any electric razor. Final gripe: if you drop it in the shower, it's done: the hinge on the head assembly will bust, and there is no replacement part for it (only the actual blade inserts are replaceable). After having to replace two of these razors, I finally gave up on electric razors.

Nearly Perfect

I've been a daily shaver for over ten years. I only recently treated myself to an electric razor to see if it would suit me. I started small with a wired, stationary-head model. Once I decided I liked it, I invested in this razor as a daily shaver (the starter model was a pharmacy purchase - not bad but not great). It works great, I only need to charge it a couple times a month, and I can use it with cream and in the shower. It cleans well, shaves well, and is ergonomically great. If the blades were a tiny bit quicker to raze on the first pass, it would be a perfect ten (although I'm not sure ANY razor can accomplish that). It's a steal for the price.

Norelco shaver 'kit' so so

The shaver itself is the normal good quality Norelco usually provides,...it does a great job and is easily cleaned. This is the first time I have received a shaver 'kit' from Norelco that did not include a travel case (!!!), and further there is not one listed as an accessory to order later? I plan to discuss this with their customer relations department to see what my options are.

For this price point this is a great electric razor, providing a close shave and follows the contours of the face well. Also being able to use a shave gel is a bonus if your prone to irritation.

I bought this shaver for my son for a Christmas present. He told me the model and name he wanted as this would be replacing an older model that didn’t work any longer. He had to wait before Christmas and had to shave the standard way with blades. When he got to use this electric razor he was so glad, as it provides a clean, smooth cut free shave. No more razor bumps! Light weight and user friendly. According to my son a great razor for the price !

Bought this on sale for $35. For that price, it's great. Gives a close, comfortable shave. Having the edge trimmer be a separate piece that you have to add and remove every time you want to use it isn't the most convenient thing, my old shaver had a trimmer that was attached to the shaver, but it's not a deal breaker at all. Good battery life also.

Shaves well, would prefer pop-up trimmer over replacing the rotary head with the trimming head. The shave is so good I can overlook that one issue.

Bought this for my son to use at college. He loves it. I've always bought Phillips for my husband and family members and never been disappointed. The razor works great, it is easy to clean, and has lasted a long time. This was well worth the price. I am always willing to pay a little extra to buy this brand.

It a great electric razor. Just be patient if switching from a blade.
The manual recommends 3 weeks, and I agree.
But I get a very smooth and close shave now, easy to use and clean.
Charges fast, and holds the charge for several shaves.

I only use it dry, so can't comment on using it wet. It is quiet and shaves fairly close, even on neck. No rash or burning after and the charge lasts a long time.
