Sweet 5.1 surround sound for the price

Pros... Awesome sound for a medium size room. Price. HDMI, 3D, optical and 4K support. Analog input for turntables. On screen display for part of the setup. Cons... Lag in response when powered up. Remote not back lit. Configuration not too user friendly. No manual in packaging. Had to download it. Overall the cons were not a deterrent for me as my previous receiver was a Pioneer. The performance of the unit is powerful and well worth the time to set it up.

After reading a few reviews that seem to sway people away from purchasing I almost didn't buy. However I am pleased I pulled the trigger and purchased it anyway. To begin consumers must first figure the size of the room this receiver will be in. If you are trying to fill in a large viewing room then buy a more powerful unit. This Pioneer sounds perfect in small to medium size rooms. Movies sound fantastic using any of the decoders (I have my unit set to auto). Playing cd's also sound terrific and for those of you who like streaming music through their phones this unit is bluetooth capable! My opinion on this unit without getting all technical is if you have decent sounding speakers this is a great buy and for $200 I mean seriously what more could you ask for. Read the specs it literally has everything the average person needs for a home theatre set up at an Awsome price.

    Great Reciever for the Price

When shopping for a reciever I was looking for something with ease of use, features such and Bluetooth, reliability, and quality all at a decent price that doesn't break the bank. This reciever delivered all of that. I've had I for around a month now and I've had no complaints so far. I use it with my desktop PC for gaming and movies using a 4-way speaker set up for immersion. The audio quality this reciever produces is fantastic, and paired with my speakers makes for an all round great sound. The functions on the reciever can be confusing at first, but everything you need to know is in the manual so I recommend reading over that. Again, I am extremely happy with my purchase and couldn't have asked for any better. The best part is that it was only $200, which to me is a great deal considering all the features and quality you recieve. I will definitely recommend this to anyone in the market for an affordable, quality reciever.

I was skeptical due to how cheap it was compared to the other receivers around. It was the second cheapest one I found in the store. The Bluetooth has a good reception but the distance is limited which I don't care. It does have at least a 50ft radius. With decent speakers and a sub it packs a good punch. Multiple HDMI inputs makes it very convenient and its also easy to program and use.

    All Around Good Receiver

I used this receiver to replace my previous one which was about 16 years old, so way before the days of HDMI and other modern digital codecs. I bought it mainly to get the more modern compatibility so I could listen to my Blu-Rays and online streaming content properly. It supports a wide range of both Dolby and DTS audio codecs and since HDMI devices are all I have, being able to run them all through the receiver is really handy. I don't do 4K yet, but it's good to know when I'm ready for that, this receiver will handle it. It loses a star for me because, while there is a small section of the remote for basic TV control, it's not universally programmable. It's for Pioneer TVs only. So they kinda cheaped out on that part. If it was universal I could just dump my existing TV remote in a drawer, but it's a minor thing.

The receiver is decent. It powers seven speakers. I had issues with the HDMI connection. I could get audio but no video from my Xbox One. Unfortunately, I purchased it primarily for the HDMI hookup since my tv only has 2 HDMIs. I think I can work around the HDMI issue by adding a HDMI splitter to the tv. Oh well, it sounds really good, it looks really good, the price was really good. Honestly though, had I known the I would have issues with HDMI connection I would have just kept my seven year old Sony receiver.

This was my first receiver for our new house. It works well. The only down side is that it is line of sight so I have to open the cabinet it is stored in every time I need to turn it on, change the volume, or change the source or whatever. I just leave the cabinet open the entire time I'm using it. A little annoying but tolerable.

This receiver does everything it ought to. The hardware specs meet all of my needs as far as HDMI ports, speaker outputs, etc. The sound quality is great and it is fairly easy to calibrate the sound. I plan to keep this for a long time.

Perfect for someone who wants plenty of connections and options to play around with. Sounds is ok and for the price, the wattage is very good. Will suffice for most everyone who wants to listen to music and enjoy surround sound in the typical home. I really enjoy the blue tooth feature and being able to connect my phone or ipad to the receiver to play music. Only problem I've had is that I still can't figure out how to get netflix on my smart tv to play through the receiver. Working on that.

I was in the market for a new receiver when my old one bit the dust. I planned on upgrading my flat screen to a 4k in the near future, so I opted for this 4k receiver. Its a little large, but most of them are. It has 4 hdmi pass thrus, freeing up the tv's hdmi ports. Its programmable and supports just about everything I throw at it. Got a new subwoofer too, and the combo makes blurays and viggy games a fantastic experience. Great BANG, for the buck( I lucked out and got it on sale.)

I've had great audio from this product but two things I didn't like the orange brown display looks terrible compared to a nice blue or green or anything else really. My receiver would turn off during action scenes and after days of troubleshooting realized it needs to be plugged into its own power outlet. It must really need the juice!

Purchased this receiver to replace an Onkyo that I had (the HDNI board went out twice on the Onkyo in as many years). The only feature this receiver was missing is using banana clips for connecting the speakers (this receiver ahs the wire clips). It's a great entry level receiver (I use it to process audio from my cable box and xBox One) for a good price - it even supports 4k video.

Great Value on a Basic AV Receiver

This was a replacement for a 14 year old Onkyo 5.1 receiver that finally died. I was looking for a good basic AV receiver since I don't have a dedicated home theater area and my acoustic environment is very sub-optimal. This receiver fits the bill very well. Sound quality is very good and controls are easy to manage. Easy setup also contributed to my enjoyment. I have a relatively small living room (14X22) with many openings and varied acoustic surfaces. The receiver handles it all with clarity and good balance between voice and music/sound from nearly all input sources.

I'm a musician so I have a very good ear. I bought this for my gaming rig and it's just as good as my main Home Theater setup. The Bluetooth is very handy for Ipod playback. Sound is phenomenal. My Squirrel approves.

I recently purchased this as I needed a replacement for an old receiver I had hooked up to my record player. Easy to set up and works flawlessly. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a basic receiver on the cheaper side of the spectrum. If you're looking for more bells and whistles you can always upgrade, but this receiver does the job just fine. Highly recommended!

this receiver rocks and is well worth the price. Its to bad there are no more pioneers priced so reasonable. Last I checked the least expensive pioneer was like 400.00 this was half that and has as much power as the more expensive units. I only wish there were still some like it available. CAUSE THIS PIONEER IS A STRAIGHT UP GOOD DEAL

This receiver is a good value for someone who isn't needing to shake things off the walls. It has plenty of power for a small house or apartment though. The fact that it has multiple HDMI inputs makes it very good for easily connecting multiple devices (BD, DVD, game consoles, cable/satellite boxes, etc.).
