This is going to be an honest and lengthy review, skip to the end for the short version.
Purchased this headunit in April 2025. Worked okay until August. I noticed the headunit would randomly reboot. Sometimes after 90 minutes, sometimes 9 minutes in to my drive. Usually just one reboot, almost seemed like it ran out of cache. Worked great after the reboot so I assumed my issue was with the Sirius XM app.
By November it would happen 2-3 times during my work commute. Annoying, but I could deal with it since it’s a solid hour to pull the head unit out.
January 1st 2026 the head unit became unresponsive. Kinda strange. I used a pen to do the soft reset. It would not boot passed the NEX loading screen. Still in warranty. Pioneer was closed for the holiday, so I carried a Bluetooth speaker to listen to music. January 4th I realized I could submit a claim online and not have to talk to anyone. 30 bucks to ship it to Cali. Annoying, but now we had a hard failure.
I received the headunit back on January 29th. They replaced the main board on the unit. This time the screen was unresponsive at the bottom. Annoying. But I can deal with it. Drive to work and the head unit started randomly calling people in my phone. This includes a major CEO who kept laughing every time my phone would call him. I had to unpair my phone in embarrassment.
Called pioneer immediately. They sent me a label to send it back. It had gotten flagged as a warranty repair instead of rework which caused a delay at the repair facility. No one called or emailed, I found out after a few days of checking their online repair tracker. Annoying. Called and they forced it through in their system. Got the headunit back Feb 26th and the screen was replaced. Finally, The radio is working well.
The short story, out of the 9 months I owned this very expensive headunit, 2 months was spent at Pioneer being repaired. After doing some research, turns out all modern pioneer head units use the same main board and it just depends which firmware gets loaded on to it for what features are unlocked.
Pioneer is no longer a quality manufacturer, its mass produced junk. The only saving grace was that my old appradio from 2012 used the same plug and I was able to use that during the 2 months my headunit was out for repair. Spend your hard earned money on a manufacturer who cares about quality.

I purchased this radio and had best buy install this on my 2018 Toyota rav4 xle and I couldn't be happier. Such a great improvement from the stock model it came with. I highly recommend. What took some time for me to get used to was not having knobs, but that only took a few weeks

Going to give an extra star because – if it had worked and wasn't a dud unit – it would have been more than serviceable. Really great feature set and I loved the wireless carplay. But unfortunately a couple months into ownership it started crashing and resetting mid-drive CONSTANTLY. Some days it wouldn't, some days it would crash 3+ times on one drive to or from my job and every time it would just ruin my vibe like crazy. I don't know, the unit itself would have been fine but the fact this was such a problem, would never tell someone "oh yeah get that one."

It is an excellent stereo, it works very well, it does not get stuck and it is very fluid. I would have liked it to have some physical keys for better volume control, but other than that it gives excellent sound quality.

Bought the first unit open box online; It was rated excellent meaning all parts were present and it had been restored to factory defaults. Neither was true. Half of the connecting cords were missing and the previous owner Hector had all of his info in the unit including a lock that I could not bypass. Secondly it was advertised as free installation, but the only installation site I could sign up for was a 150 mile roundtrip. Even though I knew there were Best Buys that did installs a 100 miles closer. I ended up taking the unit back to the closer Best Buy, buying a brand new unit and scheduling an installation. They did a great job installing it and I like the unit, but I endured a lot of headaches over the first unit and trying to get it installed. In the end it cost me a $100 more for the new unit.

Syncs up to your apple device wirelessly and runs your phone via touch screen. Spent a little extra and got the backup camera with it. Works great upgrade for my 2012 truck.

i had a hard time with this. It took 2 trips to the Best buy Audio installation and then a trip to an auto mechanic to fix an electrical issue. It functions okay finally but the screen could be brighter.

Awesome stereo with so many options. Great value for your dollar and CarPlay works like a dream. Get the pro kits on Amazon to hook this baby up and you got a system ready for whatever occasion!

For the money, perfect!
Installation was amazing, Kip did an awesome job at the Bradenton location.
Radio itself is a new model with reliable wireless carplay and smoother operation of the radio. Love the interface, its not perfectly smooth like your $1000 iphone but its smooth enough to get the job done, slight refresh rate hickups.
I do love its surround sound selection based on listening position, works great!
HD Radio works great, usb was installed for you to connect to it wired if you wanted to use a usb drive or use Apple CarPlay wired.

Works as expected. Stock radio had a black screen and we wanted to upgrade to a hands free model. First purchase did not work and tech suggested this one.
