This is a great Receiver. I was surprised to find out it did not have a Gigabit Ethernet port and it would not assign a IP via DHCP I had to assign a static IP.

I recently upgraded from an Integra 8.9. This was from when Onkyo was standalone and Integra was their premium line. The unit is primarily used for HT and gaming although I've tested it with music as well. Current configuration is a 7.2.2 system. Paired with Paradigm Studio line speakers. I will respond to questions (comments# on this review so ask away if I miss something. Pros: - The receiver packs a punch. It has plenty of power. I've run it at 80% and it was uncomfortably loud with no distortion. - After dialing in speaker settings by hand I ran the auto-correction features and it noticeably improved audio, particularly the subs. - I do my image calibration in the TV and not on the receiver so no comment there. For gaming, no lag was noticed that I could detect. - Amp runs cooler than my last unit. - Overall the sound is great. - Dual antennas have no trouble staying on the network even with a weaker Wi-Fi signal in my basement. Ultimately I hard wired it into the network because I had a spare drop so figured ... why not? - The back is much cleaner. - Can support 9.2.2. - Dual sub-woofer outputs. It's not a big deal but it's nice. - iPhone app is easy to control. And fun to mess with the kids when I start playing with it remotely :# Cons: - The user manual comes on CD. At this price point ... just give me the paper manual. - The remote is not backlight. It has glow in the dark buttons. Really Pioneer? Really? - There is no phono input. If you need this, be ready to get an external pre-amp. - Last two channels need an external amp. I suspect future iterations of the product will have all amplifier power included in the main unit. - Auto-correct is still uses a fairly cheap mic and only measures from one listening position. - Remote setup is the usual receiver garbage. Too many buttons in too little space. Frequently used buttons like volume are not easy to find in darker rooms #see backlight comment ...) Overall: The cons are minor irriations. But they are enough to strike 1/2 a star off. Since I can't do that ... it gets 4 stars. Is it a McIntosh or Anthem unit ... um, no. But for your average user or enthusiast I think it's a great product. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

We returned this product. When we bought it we didn't get a through product introduction by the staff because no one at the store knew how it worked. But it had enough channels for our new surround sound system and 2 additional zones. We hired a professional installer who couldn't figure out how to set it up fully, but got it working. We attempted to use the surround sound once and lost the presets for the zones. As the manual was poorly written we couldn't figure out how to fix it and after hours of frustration and failure we decided to return it and continue our search for a better AV receiver. Beware this unit is not user friendly.

This Avr is a bargain at sub 1k price, I owned Sc-85 already bought 2 years ago, the only thing I did not like about SC-85 was no hdcp2.2 on it, luckily Samsung 4K bluray has two hdmi out to address that. This Sc-95 is complete package with wireless and BT built it, I am using wired connection any way, since I was familiar with setting it took me 15 min to do 5.2 connection. Took probably an hour to try different sound calibration, I am to a level that I really like the setup now, the GUI is really dated and slow, it is faster than SC-85 but similar to my 12 years old Yamaha Avr, but once I am done with setting that part of shortcoming will not be an issue. Sound quality is top notch in this AVR, Video and audio up scaling is very good. I am using Samsung 65 inch 4K tv, oppo bdp-93, appletv 4 and old toshiba HD DVD (still have it with movies) Player with it, Speakers are definitive Tech st20 towers, 8060st center, bookshelf for surround and Sc6000 subs, I would suggest people to use online setup tool it is very easy to use. Control app on iPad will make the tweaking of audio super easy. Pioneer should put a printed Manual in package it is very helpful and prevents going back and forth to laptop, the manual online has very small fonts too. Bestbuy had the best price when I got it. If some one is looking for AVR this is time to get AVR, it is a future proof AVR with all latest and upcoming tech built in at great price until next year model comes in at full price.

When it comes to amplifiers it always come down to basics. The sound of this receivwr is so much better than Yamaha Adventage that I have compared it againts with. Yamaha maybe easier to use, but it lacks that magic factor especially when playing music with Pioneer SC-95. This unit is best controlled with iControlAV5 application via smartphones

Waited for this to drop to 999 as it has a few times. New 2016 models are coming, but primarily under the Onkyo side of things. Nothing beats Elite as far as the setup and of course the quality overall. I upgraded to this from a 2008 model SC-05 and it really is a truly enhanced version. I only wish the GUI received the update that the newer 2016s will have - it's slow/clunky/and ugly,. Also, what happened to Sirius XM? I also wish it had Google Play Music. But these are not dealbreakers as the receiver overall is amazing.

Pioneer SC-95 worth every penny! The set up is extremely easy to do, but there was some difficulty when using the phone, as I had to try it 5 x's but it finally worked. There are many different set-up options, which i prefer the front-wide surround. I ended up having to call Pioneer in regards to this particular set-up but they were extremely helpful minus the 25 minute wait on the phone.

This receiver out of the box sounded really thin but after the MCACC PRO calibration it came to life. Now I have used Audyssey, Onkyo's ACUEQ, and YPAO. To my ears they all sound the same and I really don't know if room correction is a gimmick or not as everyone claims something different including the companies. Having said that I decided to return this one and continue with my Onkyo 805 simply because I am not ready for Atmos yet and I have all the amp power I need right now plus it sounded no different then my 805 and that goes for others I've tried. The SC 95 however sounded really clean and very clear when it came to music. That could be because it has dual Sabre 32 DAC's onboard. I do recommend this receiver.

This is a good receiver but I was disappointed it only supported HDR on 3 ports. Additionally, mine bricked after a firmware update. Pioneer fixed it but it took about a month.

Highly Defective Garbage. $1600 Thrown Away.

Receiver with Built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi & Dolby Atmos (Electronics) This is the most expensive receiver I've ever purchased, but has gone from barely working to non-functional in the course of several months of use. It started out being flakey: the control knobs skipped around, the settings screen would be solid green and the HDMI outputs would either not work, or output only 480i before being unplugged and plugged back in. Later, the unit would turn itself off after I playing any sound clip longer than a few seconds long. Eventually the HDMI outputs died altogether (past the return date) and while issues like that happen, the support process has been an absolute nightmare! You try to call the main phone number, sort through a bunch of phone options, then eventually learn you have to call an entirely different number. You try to contact support through email and don't hear anything back for a week at which point you get the run-around with short answers that try to pass the buck and you have to explain and re-explain why the receiver is the issue (e.g. saying HDMI cables plugged into the defective receiver work fine when directly plugged into devices and going so far as to borrow displays from neighbors to confirm, unequivocally, that the HDMI ports are dead no matter the display or cable). I finally got authorized to do a repair, only to discover they outsource repairs to a handful of dying mom-and-pop operations who are so backed up with repairs it takes a month for them to get your unit back to you! In my case, the unit wasn't even repaired properly (HDMI ports lasted about 5 minutes after the factory reset "fix") and now I'm worried that I'm stuck with a $1600 paperweight that has never worked properly! Apparently the thing has a two-year warranty. We'll see if I can actually get it properly repaired before that! This experience has been so negative that this may be the last Pioneer product I ever buy.
