    I bought this when I got my iMac. I needed to upload quite a few music CD's. It worked well.

    The external drive has decent write speeds and is more quiet than I would have expected. I am able to rip most Blu-ray movies in under an hour. It would have been nice if the drive included embedded software to play Blu-rays directly from the drive on a mac but the software is easy enough to find on your own. I am not blown away by features or performance but the device gets the job done and is priced right for a OS agnostic external drive.

    My initial concern was that the drive would need 2 USB ports to function. Thankfully on a desktop that is not the case, probably on a portable computer you would need the extra power. I've burned several DVDs and Blu-rays on my iMac with no issue.

    When I first received this Blu-ray player, my first thought was how small and light it was. I come from the age and school, that believes a product needs to be solidly built, larger and heavy. This player proved me wrong. It was incredibly easy to hook up to my PC, and worked beautifully. It is also light and portable, so I can remove it, and store it in a drawer when not in use. I am very happy with my purchase.

    My new laptop doesn't have a optical drive. So I did a little research and settled on the Pioneer External 8x Blu-ray USB 3 drive. What a great choice! It's fast, Blu-ray playback is flawless and it doesn't require external power.
