This unit was a replacement for a Denon 2112ci not by my choice but the Denon failed and Best Buy refused to replace it with the current 2000 series. This happened while the Denon was under warranty and after they scrapped my Denon so the Pioneer is what they gave me. With that being said the Elite 43 has great picture quality and the up scaling is amazing. Very easy to set up, the remote is excellent with everything you might want right at your finger tips. What it lacks is POWER my set up is all Mirage OS series and they would rock the house with my Denon 2112. They still sound great but the Pioneer just doesn't have the reserve power the Denon has. In fairness the Denon I had was $699 the Pioneer was $500 so you do get what you pay for. So if easy of use and picture quality are 1 and 2 on your list this receiver is for you, if feeling the movie is what you like, look elsewhere!

This is my second Pioneer Elite video receiver and I would not hesitate to buy another in the future. My first one gave me great service for 19 years before it developed a problem. This VSX-43 is a like replacement with today's features and capabilities. Connecting all of my components via HDMI ports was a breeze and so much more convenient than using old component style cables drastically cutting down on the wiring mess behind my system. As noted above, I think the system would benefit from a little more power.

This receiver is a great general receiver and provides awesome sound. It's lacking in the menu options of its big brother VSX-70. Pandora login is painful to scroll through alphabet selections. I use it as a 5.1 system.

Does not cross composite input to HDMI out put. Same in same out. Radio tuning must be done through remote control. Can't use same numbers for preset in FM & AM (if you preset # 1 for FM you can't set a #1 in AM). Two big knobs on front are for input select and volume control. No knob for radio tuning. Manual really lacking. No good explainations on many items or what each provides vs the others. Not sorry I bought it, but did not do enough homework

I found this receiver to have all the features I was looking for in a receiver. I really only wanted a 5.1 receiver (because there really isn't a lot of content using 7.1), but for the price, it was worth the stretch. It hooks up to the internet so you can stream Pandora and comes with a microphone that helps you optimize your sound.

I bought this receiver to upgrade from my Sony receiver I bought about 5 years ago. This receiver is simply amazing. Easy to set everything up; I have my cable, PS3 and Xbox 360 all running through it. I listen to Pandora through the receiver. It was a little more $$ than I was wanting to spend but I am very happy I did; this receiver will be great/top of the line for a long time.

Once we got this set up, it works great and does exactly what we purchases it to do. We have the basic TV, Blue ray and Direct TV and found the instruction picture for set up very easy to follow. The over all instructions for the speakers and the zones where not so simple. Although I do not consider us to be technically challenged, this was not the an easy set up.I had to use my computer to pull up the entire manual to get instructions for what I wanted to do. I called Best Buy for some help with the speaker set up and zones and was told I had to pay to have someone from the geek squad to come out to when all I wanted was a question answered. I called pioneer and after being on hold for 35 min they were very helpful and I got it working in both zones. The remote is also very difficult to figure out and we are still using it for the receiver only.

We are enjoying great sound from our Pioneer Elite receiver. Surround sound is great from our floor and bookshelf surround speakers. Also like the Ipad app to control the receiver. A great plus to use the multizone function. Set up and controls were a little difficult but I was able to get through it all.

Great receiver for the price. More options and features than I know what to do with...not that I'm complaining, but you will want to reference the owners manual often in the beginning. Easy to use after set-up.

This is a great audio receiver with a lot of different features. This is a great entry level unit that can handle multiple zone sound. If it had wifi, it would be perfect.

I got this receiver on sale for 250. This is the best receiver I have seen for this price and quality. It sounds great with my new surround sound system. And all the options have been newly updated that make it far more affordable than my previous receiver

so far so good I like the product everything has been working fine and sounds real good I used this with Yamaha speakers.everything has been good but lately the Pandora only works for like a minute or two and then just stops playing. I haven't had time to try and figure it out but it is kind of annoying it was working fine up until last week I have had this product since the beginning of December guess we will see.I purchased this when it was on sale for 299 and for the price it was a good buy.

Purchased this for my living room to run my Klipsch Reference 5.1 Speakers. It sounded great but I felt like it needed just a little bit more power. If you don't need that much power, then this receiver will be perfect. It has all of the bells and whistle that you will need. Airplay worked great. Easy to set up. Everything worked as expected and got this on sale for 299.99. That is a deal. This is going into my smaller living area.

This is a great entry level receiver into the high end. It has most of the features anyone would need. It sounds much better than typical receivers. If you have a very large room, have hard to drive speakers (lower sensitivity) or really need to crank it up all the time then you might n a receiver with a larger amp section. For $499, or now typically lower, give it a shot and most people will be very happy with it.

I am really impressed with the sound quality from this receiver, but it is missing a few things that I think should be standard on any receiver of this class. It is the only 4k receiver that doesn't upconvert content. It also doesn't allow you to rename HDMI inputs, and the onscreen guide is simple black and white text. Aside from these quirks, the sound quailty is excellent and it performs well with movies.

Great Pioneer Elite unit at an easy, entry-level price point. Has most of the features of the higher end systems with slightly less power. This unit is perfect for those with smaller rooms or apartments, where full volume is rarely used. It is fine for me (Medium room, single family home) when watching television or movies however, it is lacking when I want to really crank the music.

The Pioneer Elite VSX-43 is an excellent entry-level receiver from a proud line of home theater products. For a modest price, the listener is enveloped in an impressive soundstage that delivers nuanced details and precise sound imaging. My only reservation is that it only delivers 80 watts per channel when powering 8 ohm speakers. Depending on your listening habits, this may not be a problem. Nevertheless, I'd feel more comfortable with a little more power. At this price point, however, I can't complain too vehemently.
