Back in the day this was the brand to have. not any more. they got bought, or merged with onkeyo and were never the same. If you're serious about home theater, choose another brand.

They said that Atmos was awesome and that this receiver was better... I do not agree. It seems more limited in some ways. Be careful and do more research

Well I guess Pioneer hasn't done there due diligence on the new line of SC Elite receiver's. Purchased this unit only to find out that it's defective. Had several customers whom returned the Pioneer Elite SC901. So I took a chance on the new Pioneer Elite SC, only to be disappointed. The unite hums and will not allow the remote to change from different sources. This unit also will not allow you to program or pair a smart remote with it. Well back to the drawing board. With the count three and two, Pioneer threw a outside pitch for ball four! So I guess I will walk.

Remote stopped working. Ordered a new one shipped from China. Been 3 weeks still not arrived. New remote may not fix. Would not recommend. Wish I would have bought a different brand.

Perhaps I expected too much. I have been a fan of Pioneer products for 30 years, and I've had some of the best receivers they've ever released, from the legendary D1S to the VSX-09TX on up to their latest SC models from the past few years. I always buy from their Elite line. In the past, that meant a lot of things. Usually, gold plated connections, sometimes a copper chassis, the latest and greatest innovations and tech in a receiver, in a package that was usually very stylish and looked and felt high end. This latest receiver... normally priced at $1000, on sale for significantly less than that... Feels cheap. The faceplate, chassis, connections... absolutely nothing special about them. The remote? Oh boy. It couldn't have cost them more than $5 to make this cheap little thing. Absolutely terrible considering how great some of the remotes for their receivers have been in the past. So I was not wowed at all by this purchase from my initial impressions. It sounds good, everything functions correctly... But at this price point it certainly should work properly. But it looks/sounds no better than a receiver that would cost $250-300. A few more bells and whistles, some more power, sure. But there's nothing to rave about here, and for those of us who remember the glory days of Pioneer and their Elite line, this is just a really sad reminder of how far they've fallen from what they used to put out. I'm giving it 3 stars because it works, and I honestly have no basis for comparison with what Sony/Yamaha/Denon/Marantz are putting out these days. In this era of cost cutting, perhaps this is a superior product to the competition. But to me, it falls far short of the quality seen in my previous Elite receivers, even ones that had cost half as much as this. I hate to say it, but this may be the last Pioneer receiver I ever buy unless they really kick it up a notch and make these things worthy of the Elite name again.

Yes it works..Yes it's easy to setup. What I'm concerned with is the Elite stamp. For the price range there are way better receivers with more power and better features! This is entry level quality! I'm truly at a loss for words here after the experience I've had with a customers 2nd of this model. Come on Pioneer! What the heck has happened?! No descret Zone controls, set Zone2 to fixed and it still operates on Variable. Standby button occasionally turns Zone2 off even when it shouldn't.
