For those seeking a complete Atmos/DTS-X solution, this AVR offers powerful performance and ease of use in a very attractive package. I found the tonal quality to be much more pleasing and true than on my previous AVR, a Denon.

This receiver has much easier to use controls than our previous model from another manufacturer. Switching from cable to internet to games is easy and doesn't require the relabeling needed before. probably, most importantly, the sound is great, even for a hearing impaired listener.

Had not bought an AVR since a Pioneer SC-35 several years ago before 4k. Wondered how Pioneer after Onkyo purchase would be. Well the answer is Excellent for both video and audio. My main interest was how did it make movies sound and the answer is strong, clean, clear on all channels with very good dialogue. Most pleasantly surprised. I can't say how the competition compares but this "elite" unit speaks very well for Pioneer's future. Shop it for price and buy it.

This receiver sounds amazing once I got it up and running the way I wanted to. It currently powers outdoor speakers in our backyard and will be the receiver for our basement living room set up. It has 3 zones and can run 3 separate sources off the one receiver or one source all at once across 1-3 zones. Setting up to do this was a bit challenging, but Pioneer Customer Service helped me over the phone in 3 minutes and it was up and running how I wanted it to. All I had to do was enable zone 2 and 3 in the settings (not just press zone 2 or 3 button on). I hope you love this as much as I do!

I had originally purchased a Yamaha receiver which was flat in comparison to this Pioneer unit, which came recommended by a friend. Not only does the sound have more depth, its more dynamic, and clearer. Easy to use, and setup as well.

Loved how this sounded and actually replaced my denon 4300 that was only a year old. Great unit and being on sale could not pass it up for the price.

Had been looking at purchasing this receiver for the last 6 months. Was at first around $1200 then to $999 and then to my surprise on sale for $699. However I went into my local Best Buy and found one open box for $419 (missing remote and owner manual). I snatched that thing quick and found a compatible remote. Talk about an absolute steal!! Went home and hooked it up plus the addition of ceiling speakers. I've had Onkyo, Sony, Yamaha and Kenwood receivers in the past and they were all decent for their time BUT this is hands down the best one I have ever had! People complain about the remote and how plain it is. I dont have a problem with it.

I upgraded from an older Pioneer Elite SC-63. This receiver works great and fully supports 4K with HDR but it does not have anywhere near the amount of configuration options of my old Elite. It feels like it needs some more software added to it. The sound is a huge improvement and the added 2 channels are a huge plus. I have not purchased the additional speakers yet for Atmos. The channel separation even in 5.1 is a huge difference and much cleaner. The sound is good and in the end that is what counts most to me.

I am very pleased so far with this Pioneer receiver. The set up was pretty straight forward. I used You Tube to view other set ups before I attempted it. I have my television, dvd, CD player, cassette player and turn table connected with two front, two rear speakers , a center speaker and a sub woofer. The receiver has no problem pulling that set up.

After two Yamaha receivers that failed to perform it was definitely time to do something different. I received great advice from my sales rep and selected the Pioneer - Elite receiver. I also chose a Geek squad home installation. Money well spent. Installation was a snap and upon inspection of my cabling hook up they made some excellent ideas for upgrading. No pressure just sound advice. I am a happy man.

I replaced a 25 year old Pioneer VSX453. The sound is great. The remote is easy for my wife to use. The software is simple and intuitive. The set up guide was easy to follow. Plus Pioneer has an easy to contact customer service if you have questions. The only con is you have to download the user manual but the manual is very thorough and detailed (173 pages). This is a great sounding powerful unit.
