Best purchase ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded my LX501 to this LX503 because I needed more channels for my Atmos speakers. I own the entire Pioneer Elite Andrew Jones Atmos system. Having my rear Atmos finally working and my new SVS PB1000 subs all connected transports my family into the scene! It’s nothing like I have ever experienced before. Just waiting on the price to drop on the new Pioneer 4K BDP now.

Best Receiver We've Owned!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WE've had other receivers some failed, some didn't produce the intended results. This Pioneer model is great. Of course it's modern version having all the newest features which sets it apart. It seems to be smart too, recognizing when we've got a DVD ready to play or going back to cable. Really brings our B&W speakers to life!

Works great for a large home theater system
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After taking back a couple of other receivers, I upgraded to this one to power my 7.1.2 theater system with atmos. It powers all my speaks and two 12inch subs without any additional amps and does a great job with the separation of sound.

Best Bang for your Buck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver is often on sale for $899.99 but even at its normal $999.99 price, no other receiver comes close with the features it has with its pricing. Pioneer is now owned by Onkyo and it seems as they have done a good job since ownership. 1. Although it is a 9 channel receiver, it does have Pre-Outs to connect an external amp to allow a total of 11 channels. I'm running Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 calibrated using Pioneer's system and does a wonderful job in doing so (did take a while to calibrate though). Be sure to connect it to a Display to do the set up as the visuals help with endless of speaker configuration settings. 2. The GUI is super user friendly and easy to understand. It almost eliminates the need of the owners manual 3. The receiver does not run as hot as others and able to process 4k without issues. 4. The apps aren't that bad, although slow to load at first, once connected (i'm using Ethernet) all is smooth and quick. 5. The Bluetooth has wonderful range and has yet to cut off. 6. The receiver powers my Klipsch Reference speakers without issues...although My old Denon produced slightly better sound for Stereo Music, but it's not terrible. Plus Ii'm using this receiver 80% of the time for movies. I suppose the only thing that bothers me, compared to Denon or Marantz, is the finish is very "plasticy" and non premium. It is very glossy, so be prepared for finger prints to show up very easily. Honestly, (unless you have expensive speakers that are power hungry) at its price point there is nothing that competes with it if you are wanting Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 configuration. If you want a receiver with similar features, the next step is a Denon AVR-X4500H or Marantz SR6013 which is $500+ more.

Works great sounds great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to buy a Yamaha but my wife liked the sound of the Pioneer better. And it was on sale. So I decided to try it. I had Pioneer equipment before and liked it but had not seen higher end Pioneer receivers for a while at BestBuy. We just love this Elite 9.2. Have it set up as 7.1 now and the sound quality is great for our use. I have it on Klipsch Reference Series Dusl 8” and it has plenty of power and good crips sound. I was a little afraid when I iunboxed the unit and found out Onkyo had purchased Pioneer but so far I am very pleased with this receiver and the software functions work well . The auto set up was better on the Pioneer than the Onkyo I had tried before and with a little tweak we love it

Great Home Theater Receiver!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful upper mid-level home theater receiver with great features and nice sound. For the same money, a 2.1 channel amplifier designed specifically for music would provide superior sound quality. BUT, for a home theater receiver that can double as a music receiver, this is a very nice model. Home theater modes cover all of the major formats, including Dolby Atmos. In fact, I set up my system as a 5.1.4 Atmos system. The Zone 2 feature is nice, and I have some lower mid-level audiophile-quality speakers (B&W) connected. Zone 2 could also be used to add 2 more speakers (separate amp needed for this) to the home theater experience (I could turn 5.2.4 into 7.2.4, for example). Sound is more refined than my older Onkyo TX-NR676 (great deal). Like the Onkyo, this model offers a full complement of streaming services and internal DAC, enabling direct playback of high quality digital music. This HTR is a bit pricey, but it is excellent.

Awesome features
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver sounds amazing once I got it up and running the way I wanted to. It currently powers outdoor speakers in our backyard and will be the receiver for our basement living room set up. It has 3 zones and can run 3 separate sources off the one receiver or one source all at once across 1-3 zones. Setting up to do this was a bit challenging, but Pioneer Customer Service helped me over the phone in 3 minutes and it was up and running how I wanted it to. All I had to do was enable zone 2 and 3 in the settings (not just press zone 2 or 3 button on). I hope you love this as much as I do!

Q: QuestionIs it normal to use the volume so high on this receiver? I’m currently playing it at -12.5 to get a cinematic experience. It’s a bit over 70%. I was using Sony products before and never had to go so high. Speakers are set at 6 ohms
Asked by EMRO.
- A:Answer Yeah, I’ve noticed this as well. I had a previous Pioneer Elite and didn’t have to crank the volume as much. This is definitely an Onkyo box now, but the sound quality is great.

Q: QuestionI have seen references on the internet that the Logitech Harmony Elite universal remote does not work with this receiver. Is anyone using the Logitech harmony Elite with the 503?
Asked by JimE.
- A:Answer I have the 503, and the Logitech Harmony One. Yes, it works great. Honestly though, we’ve been using the Samsung all in one remote that came with our new TV. That works great as well.

Q: QuestionCan you have different audio from different sources going to each zone?
Asked by Fred.
- A:Answer Yes, you can use the mobile app to merge your sound or port different sound to different zones.

Q: Questionis the output for connected speakers sufficient to power full house speaker system without an inline amplifier?
Asked by BeachDude64.
- A:Answer I guess the answer depends on the size of your speakers and the acoustics of your room. I have a BOSE surround sound system: 4 cube speakers in the corners, a center speaker plus the woofer. The sound is rich and natural.

Q: QuestionDoes this receiver send sound from a digital source, like HDMI, to zone 2? Most receivers I have found will only send analog audio to Zone 2 and I'm looking for one that does digital.
Asked by PharaohDanGer.
- A:Answer Yes, zone 2 is HDMI
