Adam Sandlers movies have been getting a little odd over the years. This one proves that. It is an ok movie to watch with family, but also it is kinda weird. One thing that is good is that they really tried to include the retro aspect with todays better graphics.

I unfortunately passed on Pixels when it was released in theaters an after seeing it I wished I had went to see it in 3D at the theater. The 3D bluray and my setup at home does a decent job at recreating the experience, but it's very obvious that the theater would have been the best way watch this film. I wouldn't call myself an Adam Sandler fan, but I found his character to be enjoyable in this film. As someone who grew up during the early 80's I found the portrayal of the young arcade gamers to be pretty spot on. I do wish that the bluray had a greater range of special features but a lack of features has become a disturbing trend lately. I often hold home releases up to the original DVD release of Blade with it's plethora of extras and features and unfortunately many studios have fallen short of this mark in the past years. I enjoyed the movie and am glad I purchased it.

First off, this is a solid buy, especially if you are a gamer and/or like like and grew up with the classic Atari and Nintendo games. You will enjoy this movie if that's you. It's also safe for kids. There's also an interactive Pixel app where you can help shoot enemies and etc at certain parts of the movie. The 3D is pretty good, and definitely pops out at you (which I like), I just wish they added a little more popping 3D. I'm a 3D junkie, so the more that really pops, the better. With that said, you can't go wrong with the 3D, so PLEASE don't let my comment about wanting more turn you away. You'll enjoy buying this movie in 3D!

Adam Sadler foray into the alien invasion genre is one of his best movies. Adam stars as a once arcade game savant in his youth, a useless achievement until aliens invade Earth in the form of classic arcade games. The President of the United States, his best friend, enlists him and two other arcade game experts to save the Earth. It's a complete absurdity, but it's the battles are fun and exciting, especially the final battle with Donkey Kong and thousands of game characters battling for Earth. It's a fun and nostalgic look back at the humble beginnings of video games. The 3D version is definitely worth the buy.

A much better value than the mass release.

This is a much better value than the mass release, due to the higher quality, real metal case, as well as due to the inclusion of a standard dvd, neither of which does the standard release include. Unfortunately, Best Buy used the much cheaper MetalPak brand instead of original Steelbook brand. My copy came with moderate wear (rubbing and scratches) under the shrinkwrap, no doubt due to substandard production quality at the factory. Still better than plastic though, which has amazingly gotten even cheaper and FAR less protective, since the adoption of "eco" cases. Metal also makes the product much more collectible.

If you like Adam Sandler humor and you grew up in the 80's early 90's and you were a gamer you will enjoy this movie. If you don't and you didn't this might not be the movie for you. It brings back the childhood memories of the games you use to play and keeps you laughing. I didn't give it 5 stars because it's not the BEST or GREATEST movie I have ever seen but it's worth watching once or twice for sure. My oldest enjoyed it as well but my other children didn't really seem to find it appealing blame it on the lack of 80's video gaming in them lol.

I know most people are hot or cold when it comes to Adam Sandler movies. Some think he hasn't had a good movie since Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison. Granted those are two of his best movies, but I think many of his other ones are good too, this being one of them. It was a change of pace for him and it turned out pretty good. It wasn't a typical Happy Madison production and didn't include all of his friends. It was a good mix of actors and actresses and has an interesting plot. Fun movie to watch.

It was neat to see classic 80's video game characters mixed in with live action. The special effects were pretty unique. The 3D is stellar. Very nice depth and pop-outs. Probably the strongest 3D release I've seen so far this year. It even had a few scenes were objects crossed into the black "widescreen" bars. The story was a bit mindless, but that is to be expect here. Sandler was pretty funny in this, probably his best performance in about a decade. I would recommend seeing this movie in 3D.

Movie is silly but is perfect for anyone that loved playing all the classic Video Games in the 80's. The 3D is actually pretty good.

growing up in the 80s, i played pretty much every game that was shown in this movie. and they were played in the arcade, not at home on a computer or console. it brought back memories of spending many hours in an arcade and feeding quarters in just about every machine in the place. the movie overall definitely isn't on any "best of" list, but the nostalgia factor for me is what sold me on it. and i can certainly see myself watching this over and over.
