The platinum was a temporary case for my wife until she was able to find one she likes. I feel the lip on the front of the case is important for screen protection. I say save your money and get a case that offered better protection unless you are only concerned with the look.

Nice Slim Case

It fully covers the top 2 corners, and a tick over half of the bottom corners. The sides provide some grip, while the back is slick. It makes the phone look almost all black - a good look. This is the closest thing to not having a case on at all, yet having some protection.
