Never have messed with the "inside" of the computer but decided to try a memory upgrade on my iMac. This was so easy and has made such a big difference! Worked great, easy to install, worked for a Mac.

Easy upgrade for older laptop

I have an older (2007) Gateway laptop (AMD Turion 64) running Windows XP that was configured with two 512MB PC6400 DDR2 SoDIMMs. Because my laptop is in very good condition, and I use it primarily for word processing, email and browsing, I could see no reason for junking it, even though newer models are out there that are relatively inexpensive. I did want, however, a performance boost since I noticed that some of the newer programs I installed were taxing the CPU with heavier demands on the installed RAM. I also wanted the ability to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 when XP is no longer supported. The PNY memory upgrade was the solution to both issues. Not only is my older laptop performing better speed-wise, but it also now meets the requirements for an upgrade to Windows 7.
It was very easy to install. Just remove the cover underneath the cpu, remove the two old ram chips, slide the new ram into place, press down and you're fininshed. The computer recognized the memory right away and I immediately noticed improved boot up time and faster application performance.

It's memory and it works in a 2006 white iMac. Decent price. In store pickup a plus.

Painless to install

No instructions come with it really (which is why it gets 4 stars rather than 5), but there's a wealth of info on the internet so it is painless to install. I installed it on my EEE PC 1015 netbook which then showed noticeable performance improvement. Here's a link to a video demonstrating the installation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uDTkzl_mjE
It's not in English, but it's so clear no translation is needed.

Recently upgrading an older iMac - needed more memory for the new OS. This works perfectly for that. And purchasing from BestBuy.com with in store pickup means I didn't have to wait for it to be shipped - and hope they choose the correct package.

Just needed to boost my memory and this was the perfect product to do it with. Took longer to take the cover off the memory cover than it did to install the card.

Upgraded an anemic netbook from 1 meg to 2... it's still not fast, but this memory chip did make a BIG difference.

The installation was not as easy as the video because some of my computers parts were in the way. The value is immense as a computer with 8 gb is many times more expensive than this upgrade. And I have seen this same product elsewhere at a higher price, so Best Buy really is the best.

iMac 2008 20" 2.66 Ghz crashes with this RAM

I bought this RAM b/c I wanted to upgrade from 2GB to 4GB. The RAM specs match the iMac requirements DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz. I installed the RAM with no issues, but when I put the iMac to "sleep", the system either won't wake up or crashes. I called PNY support, but they were not much help other than saying that iMacs are picky when it comes to RAM. I contacted Apple support which verified this RAM has the correct spec for my iMac. I ran an exhaustive Apple hardware test, Rember, and even Memtest in single user mode, but all showed no problems. Guess this RAM is defective in some way, so I'll return it and see if I can purchase another brand ex. Crucial, etc.
