PNY is a great alternative to Samsung if you are not looking to spend much!

I'd hoped to upgrade capacity of my SSD from 256 to 500 GB. Unfortunately and after several attempts including from a DOS prompt, I was unable to clone a bootable copy of my C drive. I was going from Samsung to PNY. I can't use the PNY drive as intended, but will put it to good use on another machine.

Good replacement for my old hard drive. It is the best for my computer.

I don’t know what other reviews are saying this SSD isn’t Mac compatible, it works perfectly with mine and has since day 1. I replaced the stock 320GB HDD that came with my MacBook as preventative maintenance since the computer is a few years old now and drives will fail at some point. Startup is faster, large apps like photoshop and illustrator start and render faster, and the noise that comes from a spinning plate Drive is gone, the fans run less at full throttle, this switch was fantastic. The price for storage is great and it’s speed is awesome for someone like me who needs a machine that can perform, but doesn’t need a super-computer.

Instruction lacking in detail. need better instructions.

Good Budget Drive Excellent replacement for Laptop or PC

Get a quick boot up fast pc or laptop. Good gaming.

I've purchased several SSD's in the past from various manufacturers. This is my first PNY. I was hoping to replace a smaller SSD in my laptop. The PNY DRIVE COULD NOT BE RECOGNIZED BY MY LAPTOP OR DESKTOP COMPUTERS. I returned the drive for a full refund. I had a Geek Squad technician check it after I returned it to see if it was a bad drive or compatability issue. It also appeared to be a dead drive by their testing. I did not want to take another chance on a PNY drive. I've had a good overall prior experience with PNY memory cards.

I had this installed when my computer's mousepad was being repaired. We upped the strength of the hard drive at the same time. I'm hoping that it adds years to the life of my Mac.

Installed as a second storage space on my computer and was almost impossible to get the computer to find it. Download with it is also not a premium use and is a bit of a trap.

I do not know if i got a faulty one but mines was reading at slow speeds and my boot up was taking longer then expected. but for the price you can not beat it.

I had great hopes for this SSD. I installed this in my ASUS ROG laptop (also purchased from Best Buy) and the speed was excellent. Unfortunately, after 3 weeks of use, it completely died. My laptop would not even recognize it as a drive. I have returned it for a refund and am waiting to save up for a M.2 SSD instead. Maybe Samsung or Intel this time?

PNY is one of the only brands of SSD that does not hold up to its counterparts. I had issues configuring it with multiple laptops and multiple operating systems. when I replaced it with a higher quality SSD I have no issues on any of those same systems. I would recommend you buy it literally any other brand name brand

If you own a Windows Computer you might have a chance of success with installing this SSD. It seems that different controllers are used with this model SSD and sometimes the correct firmware is not applied for use with the different controllers. This SSD would not initialize on a 2010 Mac Pro, 2011 iMac or a 2012 Mac Mini, No problems with a Windows Computer. I could not use it with my systems and returned.

It is ok product, kind of still slow compared to Samsung Evo 850.
