Customers are impressed with Pokken Tournament's smooth and deep gameplay, finding it fun and easy to pick up and play. However, some feel the game is lacking in content, particularly citing a limited roster of characters and a weak story mode. The controls are generally praised as simple and intuitive.

I am a huge Pokemon fan and a pretty big Tekken fan. If you are a fan of both, I recommend this game. The fights are fun and the roster is a little small but still unique. It is a surprisingly good game.

The Pokemon battles really enables the players to experience the awesome abilities of their favorite Pokemon. Awesome graphics and fun to play game. A larger selection of Pokemon to choose from would have made this game even better.

The gameplay and the way the pokemon look makes this game worth it. I wish there was a wider variety of playable pokemon to play. It's just unfortunate that the Wii U is on the decline and not that many people can experience it!

This is what I've been wanting for years, a game that isn't turn based. It is fun to play as the different pokémon using different move combos.
Only wish there was more characters to play as!

Haven't bought a Pokemon game since the late 90s with Red, but fighting aspect of this game lured me in. The controls are tight, the graphics and framerate are also good for the Wii U. I enjoyed my time with this game.

I'm a big fan of fighting games so the prospect of a new series by the Tekken creators starring Pokemon was too interesting to pass up. Honestly, I haven't exactly been blown away by the game. The game is definitely designed for people who have never played fighting games or are not particularly great at gaming in that it starts out incredibly easy and has a pretty slow difficulty ramp. This is good for new players but I found the game pretty boring playing against the CPU for a long time. It wasn't until I played against other people that I really started to enjoy it. While the fighting system isn't all that deep or developed, it's still pretty good fun and certainly worth checking out if for nothing more than the novelty.

Fun gameplay all around, gorgeous graphics, A-MAZING moves that you'll wish were in the main series game (they pulled out all the stops to make this as true to source as possible), intricate battle system similar to Soul Caliber and other titles. Works well with Wii U GamePad and Wii U Wireless Controller Pro. I have not had the chance to try LAN mode, or to use the proprietary controllers from HORI, but from what I hear, they only limit a little more latency than the wireless controllers. So unless you're a fighting game aficionado, have fun playing Braixen beating down Garchomp with magical fairy girl might!
A FIVE * * * * * game for sure!

My sons eyes lit up when he picked it up off of the shelf at my local Best Buy. After spending two hours with a huge grin, he asked me to play. As a fan of anime and Pokémon from the 1st Japanese episode, I loved it. It wasn't dark like the Mortal Kombat series and moved in a 3-dimensional space. Very cool. When the power meter fills up, call in a Pokémon which you selected before the round began to help out.
The special moves like Pikachu's lightning were well animated and looked like it was a cartoon. Graphically, very nice for a Nintendo game. Pokken Tournament did not feel repetitive at all. I will probably play it this weekend with him.

I was happily surprised at how competent of a fighter this game is. It has great depth, and a lot of replay value. I only wish it had more characters. But overall, a solid purchase!

If you are looking for a new fighting game for the Wii U this is a great game to add to your collection. Not as good as Smash for the Wii U, but it is very fun nonetheless.

A unique take on fighting games, seeing your Pokemon fight in real time is a treat. The game is bright and colorful, and in spite of the relatively limited roster of characters, there's a lot here to master.

If you're a Pokemon fan from early on, chances are you've dreamed of a game like this since you were a child. I mean I've grown to enjoy the strategy-play you find in the traditional game, but this still remains a very cool idea. It's made from the Tekken creators, and is kind of a hybrid between Tekken and Naruto Ninja Storm, with it's own unique twist of changing from 2D to 3D style of fighting mid-game. If that sounds cool to you, you should definitely get it. It's packed with tons of great content and probably will get DLC since the arcade version just added Darkrai and rumors are flying that Scizor will join the fray too.

The graphics are nice and the concept is the same as the Tekken fighting games. The bad things can include only a limited number of pokemon making an appearance and the voice acting can get annoying.

Great Game for Pokémon fans but just that. The game play itself if fun, engaging, and fast paced. Fun pokemon to play as and Kool levels.
Now the problem is that it gets really repetitive really fast as there are only about 15 characters to play with and a handful of areas as well. There is pretty much no story in the game. It's basically a strictly pick a Mon and fight then repeat. And each match only last about 2 mins if that.
Great game but I'd only recommend this to Big Pokémon Fans as the price tag it's currently at isn't worth the content it gives you.

The look of everything is great and the game mechanics work, despite being unnecessarily complicated. Could use a lot more pokemon, though (and/or the ability to upload them from a handheld game).

This game is a great step into a new fighting style for pokemon. However it's definitely not pokemon stadium so if you go into it with that mind set you may be disappointed. There is a lack of characters and I feel this will allow room for Nintendo to release amiibo cards that may unlock more fighters. This is a great game to keep you entertained for a few hours but may get set aside quickly due to the story modes lack of contact. If your looking for a fun way to battle some random pokemon with a well put together battle system and kill a few hours this might be the game for you, otherwise it might be a good title to rent from a redbox or gamefly if you just want to try it out.

I didn't really know what to expect when i first started playing this game. I was wondering how Nintendo could fit another fighter in for the Wii U with smash bros dominating all the time.
I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how fun this game is. The fighting isn't super complex or overly simplistic, the graphics are great, pokemon were transitioned amazingly into 3D without looking weird, and the special moves are awesome to watch.
To anyone who's a pokemon fan or even a fighting game fan that has a Wii U, this title is definitely worth checking out.
Lucario is the best!
