A little glitchy at release, but the open world is pretty well done considering it is a switch game. It's easy to wander off and forget about the main story for a little bit. Recent patches should help with the glitches, but until then they are keeping me amused. Way better than the messes that were Black/White/Black2/White2 versions.

This game runs like crap. There is no way around it. It's a shame that Game Freak doesn't take the time they need to really polish these games. You see a lot of people blame the Switch hardware for it's performance, but when you see Nintendo's other teams putting out games like Xenoblade 3 and Tears of the Kingdom without these issues (or at least significantly less of theses issues) and Game Freak's long history of rushing games out to stay on track in the Pokemon Company cycle it makes it a bit of a moot point. It's disappointing to see. All of that said clearly we're a part of the problem because even with all of its major and massive faults I can't help but recommend this game. It's in line with the dreams I had as a kid playing Blue and Silver. I can't wait to see a couple of gens down the line where Game Freak has really embraced this style and it's running like it should have been now.

So like the title states. I am an old school Pokemon player, grew up watching the Kanto anime series to 2018, now again with my son. I've played most of the Pokemon games since Red came out for the GameBoy Color. This game The game is alright, I like the open world style, don't care for a few things in the game but makes sense why Gamefreak did what they did. I don't like how the box art Pokémon is the given to you early in the game, granted you have to complete side quests to be able to get the power ups, which I won't lie some are pretty cool. The company did a new approach with the game basically you don't need HMS just need to complete the side quests for your riding pokemon, there's a taxi service to fly you to areas you've already been too. Only big issue I has was when I was playing the game I had hints of where to go but with it being open world I was going to bases and gyms that I wasn't supposed to fight yet or get wrecked by wild pokemon due to my team being low rank. the game is fun and strongly recommend it to new players to the Pokemon world and some of the older players like myself.

To be honest, I really enjoy the time with Pokemon Scarlet. Other than performance, this is the best Pokemon ever. The plot can be called the evolution milestone in the Pokemon series. Guys, please try it out if you are a real Pokemon fan you will definitely love this game. I can feel the developer team put their effort into the core structure. Just like cyberpunk 2077, we should expect the performance patch anytime soon. I also understand why so many gamers are angry, that is because we are all willing to see the Pokemon series become better and better. The expectation gap burned out Pokemon lovers' fury, and I am also one of them. However, after 15+ hours of deep diving into the game, I truly ignored the performance issue. Really love this game and kinda regret didn't get the special edition console.

The gameplay itself and story are great. The new pokemon are great for the most part and the large region to explore has a an amazing design. The large downside is the bugs in the game. Some make the game unplayable but hopefully this will be fixed through software updates.

Game can be a little buggy, but enjoyable to play with others. The story line is different compared to the traditional pokemon games.

This game gives you so many options for the gameplay, you don’t have to go to the gym bosses in order. Lots of variations to get your badges through new huge titan boss fights, which are my favorite. Looking forward to catching em’ all!

Quite the fun game. I didn't realize that Scarlet represented the past while Violet represented the future until I saw my friend's Violet version game play. In either case, this game is quite enjoyable. Of course, it's a bit more open world like Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The strategy to beating this game is relatively easy, although it can take a bit of grinding. There are some areas where bugs will appear and glitch the game but overall, they're far and few from my experience.

    The Right Direction for Pokemon

I am a big critic of Gamefreak as developers, especially after Legends and Sword and Shield. However, they bring it back with Scarlet and Violet. Fun gameplay, a world that ISN'T empty (like Legends) and you aren't inundated with boring dialogue the whole game (ehum, Legends). The only major thing holding it back is the Switch, which isn't quite powerful enough to handle some of the background effects and NPCs moving around (they get very laggy). This also might have something to do with poor optimization. There were also many bugs upon release, but many of those have been patched since then.

As a Pokémon game, it’s a huge step forward for the franchise and really shows the potential for the brand going forward; Pokemon has been stuck in the same formula for over 2 DECADES and began to break it with a previously released title, POKÉMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS, which was a semi-open world approach. This entry develops a bit more into that approach well but is littered with frame stutters and drops that aren’t necessarily game breaking but have a huge impact on the experience of the game (varies by user), but the core itself is super fun and exciting. As a long-time fan of the franchise, it’s a no-brainer buy that holds three great storylines that start separate of each other and intersect into an impactful end. The monster designs for this 9th generation give a familiar feel while staying new and interesting; I personally really like the majority of their designs and mechanical approaches to the games competitive scene. A ton of ease of use and quality of life features have been added to the title for those who want to get into the competitive scene as well, such as quicker and more streamlined breeding and shiny hunting (rare Pokémon colored variants). As a summary, it’s an amazing Pokémon game at its core that’s unfortunately littered with performance issues. There’s no promising better performance through updates as the developers have not showed a consistent history with such practices but it’s still very enjoyable. I would recommend this game to any pokéfan and if you don’t care for framerate hiccups, then it’s already a must-buy!! Gotta catch them all!!

Honestly, despite what everyone says about performance/graphical issues, I’ve had a lot of fun playing this. I think I’ve put in around 30+ hours so far. The open world concept and the multiple objectives in the storyline besides the usual beat the Pokémon League, complete your Pokédex, and catch the legendaries, has been refreshing and added value. There are times where I can see the game lag and the graphics look like something from the Xbox 360/PS3 era though. Overall, pretty fun game. There continued to come out with patches to address issues. If you’re looking for a Pokémon game on Switch, I’d recommend it.

A new Pokémon game that continues the tradition of becoming a pokemon master but with new and exciting adventures along the way. I liked the open world concept, allowing me to pick the route i wanted to take as opposed to following a linear set of objectives. However, it did suck running into level 50 pokemon with my level 10 team, but that's how you learn! Took roughly 25 hours to complete the storyline and catch all pokemon. Highly recommend to all fans of pokemon!

I've been a huge Pokémon fan, since I was a child. Not since Pokémon Emerald, have I had this much fun playing a generation. There are some performance issues, and the framerate does tend to dip noticeably in specific areas, but if I'm being honest, I do not care at all. This is the best mainline game in the series, by a pretty wide margin.

A good rework of the classic pokemon formula letdown by an accelerated devopment cycle and bugs. I say the story is worth the bugs.

I was hesitant to buy this for the original Switch due to the complaints on performance and glitches. I'm glad they released the update for Switch 2 because I've had zero issues running the game. The game itself is also quite fun with updated gameplay from Sword and Shield.

Both Scarlet and Violet truly capture and realize the dream of a true Pokemon adventure. I have played every Pokemon game to have ever come out and none have been this much fun and fulfilling. But with that said, the unpolished performance and the horrible technical short comings keep this game from being perfect. Are these issues game breaking? No, but they are unacceptable and should be fixed!

This game is fun with other people but still has a lot of bugs for it being almost a year plus since it came out. I recommend this game to pokemon fans but it is easier than pearl re-release but this game is meant to capture new kids. Playing thisbgame with my kids is a blast and i think the game being a good entry level for them is amazing.

Pokemon Scarlet is a good installment in the Pokemon franchise hindered by a few flaws in performance and visual quality. However, overall, the content of the game is serviceable to long time fans and the quality of life presented, as well as the interesting locales of the DLC make for an enjoyable experience to play through.

*Played on Switch 2* Much better on Switch 2 than Switch 1. Runs better, a ton more Pokemon spawn, and fewer glitches. The gameplay flaws still remain, but it's still the classic Pokemon gameplay.
