Customers admire Pokémon Violet's fun gameplay and expansive open world, praising the engaging story and the abundance of new Pokémon and content. However, many cite performance issues, bugs, and occasional frame rate problems as significant drawbacks. The game's ease of use is also a positive aspect for some players.

the open world in this game blows my mind. I haven’t had a single glitch happen to me so I can’t speak for others experiences, but I would recommend this game for any Pokémon fan. I easily spent over 80 hours in game before even completing it. There’s that much to explore!

This game is way better than sword and shield for those wondering if it’s good enough. Great open world Pokémon game with great mechanics. The only issue is there’s lag due to rendering limitations from hardware most likely. Definitely would tecommend.

Very fun game with some interesting changes to the formula.
I went in a bit sceptical (granted, I always buy the new Pokemon game and I'm only partway through) but it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. Sapphire was my first Pokemon, and I'm usually not as big a fan of the newer titles, but I have enjoyed the new mechanics, Pokemon, and characters.
The reason it gets 4 and not 5 stars comes down to the clear lack of graphical power on the switch (which is only partially the game's fault) and the lack of voice acting. It's high time they have voice acting in Pokemon games. There are long portions of music while people emote and you have to sit there and read. Not ideal.
Overall this is a fun game, and I think it would be a good title for someone just starting out as well as returning players.

If you can look past all of the bugs and performance issues, this is probably the best Pokémon game since Black and White. However, I’d hold off on buying it until it is fixed, it’s pathetic of them to release the game at this state.

The game seems fun but has bugs and runs pretty badly on my Switch. Pokemon fall through the world, the camera freaks out during battles, my character moves in slow motion often, it's laggy/choppy, characters and Pokemon just pop into existence right in front of you, and things are hard to see due to the pixelated graphics. I had to stop playing after about 8 hours because all of that was getting in the way of it being fun. Too bad I can't return it, I wouldn't have bought it had I known how bad it was. Now I'm sitting here hoping that it'll get patched so I can give it another try. Sad day.

Its the best pokemon game so far as dar as the gameplay when its running well. The reason it loses a star is frame rate and pop in are aweful. And distracting. But the game is really fun and would be perfect except for those teo issues

Game freak has done it again! Overall a would-be great game, spoiled by outdated graphics, glitches, poor textures, and inexplicable game crashes.
The art style of the game is great; true to what Pokémon has become known for. The game mechanics work as expected, and the game alone is a lot of fun. This game, however, is plagued by frame rate drops when too much is happening, or if you're too far away from a moving object it looks choppy. The grass gym test was a nightmare, as there is "too much" being processed at once.
Hopefully they fix these issues with patches and updates; but Game freak isn't exactly known for actually caring about their fans.

It's been years since I last played a pokemon game, and was very glad this was the first such game I immersed myself in after so many years. It's a very fun version that is free world so you can do quests in whatever order you like or just wander around collecting pokemon (there are over 400 types I believe). The graphics are great, you can take classes at the academy in game, and there are many character customization options. My only issue is that there are very limited hairstyles (there are no long hair styles at all) and you can only choose from four uniform outfits (all academy uniforms). Other than that, great game!

The state that this game released in is not acceptable and downright insulting. I could understand if this was a fan game or a cheep copy of Pokémon but it ISNT. How could Nintendo even allow the product to ship off in this state is beyond me. however this game isn't freshly released anymore, it had 2 whole years t bake and......its passable. But that is such a low standard for, again, THE WORLDS BIGGEST GAMMING COMPANY. As it stands Unless you are a hardcore Pokémon fan dying to see Pokémon's take on a full open world, I wouldn't suggest it. In fact Id go as far as recommend lets go over this game, at least that game had SOME effort put into it.
Im only being so harsh on this game bc it has standards to maintain, which unfortunately it didn't. I hope I can speak for everyone when I say we wouldn't mind waiting an extra year or 3 between games if at bare MINUMIM they are functional. As it stands, if you want the fresh open world gameplay scarlet/violet were ATTEMPTING to go for, just buy legends Arceus, quite literally everything (besides the graphic) are outstanding.

This game really brings out the joy of having an adventure in a true open world experience with amazing music and characters. Not to mention new game mechanics that spices up the play style compared to previous games.

Its a great pokemon game the only thing im really not a fan of is the size of the pokemon in the game i wish it was like arceus where pokemon were their actual size a little thing i personally didnt like but overall its an amazing game i think you should play this if you want to get into modern pokemon .
