2nd Upgrade from my Home Theater in a Box

I purchased and Onkyo HTIB system a few years ago. I recently purchased the Polk S30 to replace my center channel speaker. That review is on Best Buy's site already. Once I installed that center I immediately noticed my Fronts were lacking. If I had the space/money I would get the S60's, but that is beside the point. So I decided to replace the speakers that came with my HTIB with these S15's. So like the S30, I immediately noticed a massive quality improvement over my existing speakers. I love the look of the veneer on the Polk Signature series. They are a very "handsome" speaker and you can feel and see the quality from the moment you unbox them. I got them hooked up and mounted and had to spend a bit of time getting them calibrated and what not. It was an interesting feeling when I started demoing some material. I was expecting a very dramatic change and to be blown away. Well it was dramatic and I was blown away, but in a very calm way. I immediately felt like my room was just more "full" with sound. Before I felt that the room felt odd/empty except when I was directly in front of my center channel. Now I feel there is one massive speaker the width of my entire wall projecting sound at me. The nice part is a lot of times it doesn't even sound like a speaker, it sounds like an organic sound coming at me. My wife and I both immediately noticed the improved clarity, detail, and refinement in the speakers. We still are in the break-in period for both the center and the L&R. We're both excited to see how they continue to improve going forward. After owning 3 of the speakers I know I will absolutely grab the S60s at some point and move these S15's to my surrounds. I couldn't be happier with the quality of sound I have for the price we paid.

    Polk does it again

Firstly, I'm a big Polk fan, not because I have several sets of Polk speakers but because I've had many different name brand speakers including equally and much higher priced speakers. I'm using these particular S15's solely for a dedicated music room and they fit the bill perfectly. If you want earth quaking, nose bleeding, Excedrin popping bass, add a sub, If you want your neighbors to think your starting an 80's hair band, get towers. If you want clean, responsive accurate sound reproduction to be listened to at a human volume (or slightly higher) with almost any music genre, you'll be more than satisfied with these S15's Remember, speakers are only as good as the amp/receiver they're hooked up to. Results vary but you should avoid hooking your new Polk's to a Linux or GPX unit.

Great speakers for a low wattage vacuum tube amp.

I built a vacuum tube amplifier, about 5 watts per channel. Originally I connected Radio Shack Optimus speakers. The results were dissappointing in sound quality. I then bought these Polk speakers. My amplifier came alive with a full and rich sound. Excellent low frequency response and very satisfying high frequency response as well without being too bright. With the amplifier volume turned very low the response is still rich and full featured. I am driving my amplifier with both a turntable and a digital satellite receiver. I am now very impressed with this setup and I strongly recommend these very efficient speakers for vacuum tube amplifiers. The price from Best Buy was also great.
