As a big action movie/TV fan, I was all set to enjoy 'Powers- Season 1' for the ruggedly clever, superhero-themed series it appears to be. But I was swimming in deeper waters than I thought. With each episode, it dawned on me that the characters and the story arc were written with much more complexity than the 'hero-shows' normally enjoy. I have not read the graphic novel that the series was adapted from, but the layered themes are impressive, as were the show's filmmakers and cast. The story pushes beyond the personal struggles of good-vs.-evil into societal xenophobia, the seductiveness and addictiveness of power, and the boundaries of justice itself. I felt like I was swept out to sea by a massive riptide...and I enjoyed it thoroughly!

I've been excited for this series ever since it was announced and it did not disappoint! Of coarse it was made on the cheap but honestly thats fine.. It resembles its comic book counterpart but changes it enough to keep you guessing. The performances across the board were cast amazingly well but the young female newcomer is going to be a star someday!

The blu-ray release for Powers is pretty great. The show aired exclusively on The Playstation Network so it's great to finally get to watch it. I loved it as a fan of the original comic book, and my girlfriend liked it as well without ever reading the books. Special effects left a little to he desired but strong performances throughout.

I don't think it's bad but you need to get past the first couple episodes which are slow. It does get a lot better, but it also isn't a show for everyone. It's not the Avengers or some family friendly superhero show. Lots of F bombs, violence and some brief nudity (male behind) it's dark, gritty and shows people with superpowers acting like celebrities and many don't care about helping others just how famous they can be. As for the acting. It's not sharlto's greatest performance, but he's giving it his all. An actor is only as good as the director after all. The calista character is annoying as is the Kaotic chic gang. They bugged me. As I said it did get a lot more interesting as it progressed. Left off with a cliffhanger, so season 2 should be a lot better. Just needs better directing I think. Gave it 5 stars since it is different, has potential and I liked Sharlto Copley since District 9:)

Great series so far! Varies a bit (naturally) from the comic book series, but very engaging and keeps you wanting that next episode. Great for "comic book geeks", and also for people who just love good story telling and procedural shows (although this isn't traditional in the one case to solve per week style).

This is one of my favorite comic book series that I've read for many years! When I heard that they were making a TV series based on it I was extremely excited! It was Good, but not Great! Still looking forward to SEASON 2!

Unique story line. In this time of retreads and remakes this story stands alone. Although characters contain powers this is the only similarity it has with Heroes.

This was a blind buy, just saw it while purchasing other movies and decided to give it a try. Interesting premise, hopes it continues another season

Bought this mainly because I was interested in how the graphic novel could be made into a live action video story. I was a little disappointed by this adaptation to video. Should have read the review that was posted before I bought it, which was also a bit negative.

I enjoyed this quite. They managed to accomplish something amazing for such a tiny budget. I can't wait to watch season 2!

Show has a good cast and good interweaving story lines that as entertaining and well written. I look forward to season 2.

It's good acting good and a good buy for a internet show

It's not that it's bad, it's actually quite decent. However, it's so far removed from the source material that it almost feels like another entity entirely...

Interesting take on superheroes and recommend.....

Fluctuates between capturing my attention and losing it again. Has moments but not the best of its genre

I went into this show expecting a lite version of Hereos. What I got instead was a more interesting story with far less plot hole. Heroes should have been this.

Charlto acting seemed a little forced but it gave a decent summary of the comic.

This series is pretty good. Enjoyed the series. It has a strange storyline.

The acting could be much better the stunts are so fake it reminds me of as the 1980's.. Yes I watched the whole thing hoping it would get better but it didn't so I will not get any other seasons. And I most definitely would not recommend this shows to anyone.
