nonsensical storyline (and not in a charming weirdo japanese way) absolutely insane control scheme, baaaad graphics and sound. You cant imagine the weight off my chest when I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Thank you so much for buying this, but I can't play this anymore without wanting to die a little bit", and she agreed.

I get that there are people out there who love this game for its simplicity but I am not one of them. It was repetitive and made worse by the terrible graphics.

An Excellent But Imperfect Masterpiece

Make no mistake, Deadly Premonition is a flawed game. If you're unwilling to look past dated graphics, animations, and gameplay, you won't like this game. But if you can still enjoy classic games on the Dreamcast/Playstation 2/Xbox/Gamcube, then what you will find is one of the most charming, quirky, and brilliant games ever created.
So why did I give Deadly Premonition a 5 if it's imperfect? Because despite those imperfections, it's one of the most delightful games I've played. The story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, the characters that you learn to care for despite all of their flaws, and the world that feels lived in and real, as the characters within it go about their daily lives whether you're part of those events or not.
It's commendable that the developers made such a long and enjoyable adventure and initially released it for only twenty dollars. It shows that while they likely knew they had made something really cool, they also knew that it felt dated. To those who miss older games and the way they used to be, give this game a look. I'll admit, it's a bit of a slow burn, but once it hooks you and you become part of the world, you'll be addicted until the very end.
