I bought the game used for pretty cheap and then a week later, they had it free for PS plus members. At least it was a cheap buy.

I loved the game. Haveing multiple play style choices and multiple routes to reach your destination had me re-loading certain chapters just to see how each one played out. The one big negative I have about the game is NOT being able to keep everything you worked so hard for in the first playthrough. If you want to play through the game again you are forced to start from scratch.. You don't even get the plasma gun until you beat the last boss, and then you get another Praxis point which you don't even need because you are almost at the end of the game, so what's the point? Being forced to start another play through from scratch is a HUGE negative which will keep me from playing the game again.

    Great Action RPG

Right at the start of the game the Detroit Sarif Industries corporation suffers a violent terrorist attack, most of the research staff is killed and Adam Jensen ends up seriously injured and struggling to stay alive. In order to save him, David Sarif, the founder and CEO of Sarif Industries, submits Adam to an extensive augmentation surgery. Six moths pass and the now augmented Adam Jensen is called to the Sarif Industries in Detroit were he's asked to intervene on a hostage situation in a Sarif manufacturing plant. There he discovers evidences that relate the hostage crisis to the attack on Sarif Industries six moths ago. In order to uncover the truth, Adam Jensen starts an investigation that takes him trough several different locations like, Detroit, Shanghai, Montreal, and Singapore, only to find himself in the middle of a global conspiracy to control the world. The story is very deep and engrossing, the cyber-punk theme is portrayed in a very mature and believable way and the ethics of trans-humanism together with global conspiracy themes, which are the base of the story, are so well presented that questions will be raised regarding the future of mankind. Another big feature on Deus EX Human Revolution is the element of choice introduced in the gameplay. Here you will find that you can play the game almost any way you wan't, being that a more stealthy or action oriented, using your hacking skills to access restricted areas, computers or even disable torrents and cameras, traveling trough vents, use claimable objects to your benefit or use force to break walls. The options are almost unlimited and sometimes you may feel overwhelmed by so many choices to make, nevertheless there is no need to worry since the game does a great job in rewarding you regardless of your playing stile. It's true that some elements of gamepaly seem more balanced than others, but the fact is that Deus EX Human Revolution doesn't play as a normal first-person shooter, in fact if you intend to play this game with guns blazing be prepared to die allot since a few gun shots in Adam Jensen will be sufficient for him to fall. This game rewards exploration, searching every corner, vent, drawer. Trying different hidden paths can be really fun, and you'll find that each level can be played in a different way and that your objective can be met with different outcomes. Aside from the main quest you will have numerous side-quest that you have the option to play and some of theme are very complex with several layers and ramifications that can lead to several different results. As you progress trough the game you'll win experience in the form of praxis points that can then be used to improve or unlock your augmentation powers. Improve your hacking abilities, turn invisible to human eyes, reinforce your body, use special vision to see trough walls are some of the few powers at your disposal, and again the choice is yours in which way you develop your character. The game makes a great job on making your decisions meaningful but not in a way that you feel frustrated for not choosing another path. n terms of visuals the distinctive grade of black and gold mixture really set this game apart from many others out there, and gives a unique character to this game. The futuristic atmosphere together with some renascence themes also defines the game identity with an artistic design that does a great job of making the Deus Ex Human Revolution world a believable one. Helping this is also a fantastic music score and overall great sound effects, the soundtrack composed by Michael McCann is absolutely fantastic and complements in perfection the world atmosphere. It's a shame that the time lost by the developers in creating such a believable world, didn't translate in terms of character animations and textures. Some textures seem dumb down when compared to some other features in the game and the character animations are stiffed and move in awkward manner. Some character look like they had to much coffee and can't just stop moving. In the end Deus Ex Human Revolution is an engrossing and overall fun experience that players should not miss. The game takes around 20 to 30 hours to finish and rewards players in many levels. Despite some minor technical faults the fact is that you'll be awarded with a game that carries you through an absorbing and fascinating cyber-punk, science fiction, action role-playing experience that you will not soon forget.

From a long time Deus Ex fan

I have been a fan of Deus Ex since the first game came out. Even playing it 5 years ago I still loved it and the originality it still had. The second was was great as well. I was way excited to hear that this new one was coming out. The bottom line is: if you are a fan of Deus Ex this is a no brainer. If you haven't played one before then this is a great one to pick up since it is the prequel to all of them. I dont think this game is perfect but I loved so much more than what I didn't. The story in Deus Ex is great. You are a manager of security for a company that makes augmentations for the human body: Sarif Industries. In the first few moments of the game the building is attacked and your character, Adam Jensen, is mortally wounded. He is forced to undergo augmentation surgery to survive. After returning you are sent out to find out who attacked the company and why. The story will keep you guessing and the influence you have to change the outcome is awesome. Through conversations you have with NPCs throughout the entire game you will have to make difficult decisions. I can't really say more without spoiling anything but how you affect the story is great. The game plays out like a first-person shooter/RPG hybrid. The rpg elements are lighter compared to the action which fits the game perfectly in my opinion. You are given a lot of freedom in how you tackle a mission. The augments you have can be upgraded to fit your playstyle. If you want to be a stealthy killing machine then upgrade the augs that allow you to turn invisible and walk and run more silently. If you want to be an in your face killing machine then upgrade your armor and weapon abilites. If you want to play somewhere in between ,like me, then do that. The game is very flexible. The game's visuals are pretty good as well, but its my biggest complaint I have with the game. There are many things that look great in the game but the NPCs are not one of those. Many of them look like they were from the original ps2. The civilians you talk to are not very well animated either. Thankfully, however, the main character had a little more attention paid to him and has a lot of detail. The enemies in the game are animated very realistically as well. The cities and environments look good overall but some of them are a bit condensed and hard to navigate through. Minor complaints. If youre looking for multiplayer then you aren't going to find it here. The game is pretty lengthy, however. I think I beat it in around 30-35hours. Unless your interested in going back and playing the game a different way or to see how different decisions affect the outcome, this one might just be an awesome rental. Overall I think this is my favorite deus ex. Everything is very organized in the game and it just feels like a very cohesive experience. Its a unique game and I recommend you give it a try.

Almost as good as the original

This one was worth the wait, almost as good as the original. Love the gameplay, the story, the music, the feel of it, etc... One or two small glitches do not take anything away... I have to admit I did save frequently and sometimes went back to the previous save(s)... I would change the way the boss fights were handled, seems like you couldn't "customize" them, or the environment, as much as I would like to. I hope there's another Deus Ex coming out soon. The DLC is pretty good as well. I allowed my kids like to watch me play this game, wasn't too violent... imo...

This game is great. If you liked spinter cell and those types of games you will like this. You get to choose between stealth and straight up shoot everyone style to complete. The city looks amazing even though all the graphics aren't the best. The voice acting needs help but sometimes that happens. The gameplay is fun and challenging. One of the better games so far this year.

I would Deus Ex: Human Revolution game of the year. It is a great game that I've played quite a bit and played through on the easiest difficulty twice and the hardest difficulty once. The combat, cover and stealth mechanics are great and keep the gameplay fun. The controls take a bit of getting used to but overall it's nothing I couldn't overcome. Excellent game.

    PC Game from 2003

The graphics & game play of this game feel very dated, even on a PS3. It really felt like I was playing a decade old FPS on PC, none of the updated FPS conventions were there. There was really no excuse for the graphics, upgrade system was mediocre, storyline is your basic sci-fi fare. Only thing that really stood out was the soundtrack - mix of bladerunner & tron. That did help the ambiance game a lot. I'd say if you can get this used for < $20, sure. But more than that & you've wasted your money.

I bought this game for my fiance for Christmas and he loves it! It's hard to pry him away from the game, but thats ok as I'm glad he likes it! The game seems very hard and challenging at times, but it keeps you hooked to the point where you don't give up!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best games I've ever played; Your character, Jensen, plays his way around the world looking for answers after an ambush at the beginning of the game... You can choose to upgrade various "augmentations" to give you advantages through the game, however, you do not have enough time to upgrade everything, therefore your choices determine how you'll have to play the game later on... You can choose to play the game shooting through enemies, using the wide range of weapons and explosives, or try and be as stealthy as possible, hacking into security systems and side rooms.. You could probably play this game twice and play each level in a different way!

This game bored me the entire time I played. And yes, I beat it. I always beat the games I buy, even if I hate it as much as I did Deus Ex Human Revolution. The game had a good concept and just dumped it. The very latter part of the game is finally got interesting, then overall ended anticlimactically.

I expected so much more from this title, but it was hyped so much that it can't help but be a letdown. The gameplay just isn't there.
