I've been playing Mortal Kombat since I was a child and by far is my favorite. The separate fighting styles simplify the moves you have to remember and the gameplay is much more enjoyable. As with past games there are plenty of side activities to keep you busy when you aren't challenging your friends or fighting online. The X-rays and fatalities are great and entertaining to watch and perform.

A review based mostly on graphics, storyline gameplay and character implementation. Fully utilizing the power of the next Gen consoles, Mortal Kombat X has set the standard for all fighters to come. With great textures, smooth lighting and interactive features, it's no longer just a background but a live environment. You can toss barrels, swing on vines, jump off bells, swing for the fences with tree branches etc.. these interactions allow for a change in the action than just your simple button mashing normalcy. The story mode is awesome. I only wish it was a little longer. It builds a great plot, bringing with it the introduction to some fresh blood in the game. The off spring of some old school vets (Cassie cage, Jackie Briggs) infuses a fresh new line of fighters to move forward with and they fall right into place. You go through 11 chapters of a pretty cool story and get a feel for different fighting styles without losing a beat. Each fighter comes with 3 variations, essentially providing more character depth and fighting styles for your old school favorites and the new additions alike. With classic audio clips (get over here!) It's a well mixed bag of the old school and the new. The factions seem to be still working out some bugs, so I won't be going into too much depth with that but it seems generally like it could build into something fun. For now, playing the live towers is enjoyable enough and has some replay value. Each character has a little back story when you play "Klassic" tower. Online seems just a touch laggy at times but for the most part runs pretty smooth after an update was provided. There's a krypt mode where you go into 1st person view and run through a puzzle, unlocking features with koins earned through kombat. You can unlock alternative costumes, fatalities, brutalities icons, fast fatalities, art work and more and tho I find this a tad unnecessary and time consuming, I like the thinking behind it. Keeps things interesting. (Won't get into the pay features... you'll find out for yourself) Overall I'm extremely impressed with how MKX is rounding out and with a few minor fixes this game could standout as one of the best in the series. Id recommend this to fans of the old and the new. A great intro into the next generation.

Been playing since release date both online and offline. It sucks that this is the "last" M.K game that they're going to make, but wow it's good. The storyline is fairly easy which is good for beginners and the story is great. It explains what happened after 2012 M.K by showing you past & present. Apparently it seems 25 years has passed and it shows! The xharacters have all aged(those who age unlike Mileena or Kitana) and some of them even have kids who are characters in the game like CassieCage(Sonya + Johnny). The graphics are mind blowing and make all the gore so much more gorey. They've gotten even more twisted somehow by adding actualpeople as props to hit an opponent with. Interesting NEW features include a new and scary approach to the Krypt, more online options like tower battle where you rank by points earned & team battle. Another new feature is having factions. Here you choose from the choices like Shadow, Lotus, Dragon, etc. This feature keeps you occupied if you find yourself running out of things to do. Factions compete against each other, currently Sub-Zero's faction is highest ranking. IMPORTANT: my game got application error about 4 times during the introduction to factions so watch out. The dlc season pass will not download for people(including myself). As long as they fix it I'm fine. COLLECTOR's EDITION: Figure has excellent quality and feel.

Got this game for me and my wife to play and we love it. Great for game nights even with all the gore. We have been trying to master all of the fatalities which are very gruesome and detailed compared to the past games. The crypt is nice to see again and unlocking all of the cool extras. The character movement is well handled as well with both the L stick and the D-pad.

My brother and I we've been playing MK since it came out in Arcade back in 1992. I used to be a Street Fighter fan, but the day they they put MK in the showroom my brother came to me and said, you have to play this... we ran to the MK and we were amazed by the graphics and we've been playing since online against each other. This one is the best, we love it

I was hesitant to get this because the previous MK games have been a disappointment. I heard this one had a decent story line, which it is pretty good. I saw the line up of characters and just knew I had to get it. They have some classic fighters, as well as plenty of new ones. I preordered mine so I got Goro for free. He's def boss. Go pick this game up

I was very hesitant to buy this because the last few years I have been let down by the fighting game releases. They have been lackluster at best. Mortal Kombat X is a breathe of Fresh Air! The controls are tight and VERY responsive. The Graphics will blow you away. They are extremely crisp and very detailed. In my opinion this is a MUST BUY in 2015!

Mortal Kombat X is a fast and technical game with absolutely amazing graphics and strong fighting mechanics. while the story might be a little bland and sometimes really cheesy the game shines when it comes to online game-play and multiplayer. its a fun game to bust out when you and your friends just want to hangout and have fun. great game.

Long time Mortal Kombat fan, I have been playing since Mortal Kombat 1 for super Nintendo. Game play so far has been good, I like the new characters added but I dislike being asked to pay for extra Kombat packs when the game is already expensive to begin with. The thrill of the original games were secret codes and hidden characters you would unlock during gameplay, I find the new method of attaining special characters unappealing and sad for long time fans of the game.

I expected the game to be good, but I didn't expect it to be as good as it actually is. It takes everything that was great about MK9 but one ups it. The new level interaction is great and mixes up gameplay well. There's a bunch of things to do in it, like exploring the Krypt for random extras, check out the traditional tower or play one of the new randomly generated 'living' towers that will have random modifiers that get updated every hour, day and week. There's also Factions to join and Invasions from Outworld to take part in. The story is actually fairly entertaining as well. All of that is without even touching any aspect of multiplayer. The only downside currently, and hopefully it'll get patched in, is there isn't any tag gametype available for MP. All in all, I highly recommend this game, especially if you're a Mortal Kombat fan or enjoy fighting games.

I've been playing Mortal Kombat games since I got my first taste of MK 2 on the Sega Genesis at a friend's house and I've been hooked ever since. The story mode leaves a little to be desired (which is what kept the review from a full 5 stars) but the graphics and fighting mechanics are as clean and balanced as they come. The krypt returns as well which I find to be a great way to slowly unlock all the awesome fatalities and costumes this game offers.

I've been a fan of mortal kombat since the 90's. Through out the years I've seen every mortal kombat released and this by far is the best. Graphics are at its best on my XB1. Not a big fan of story line but online play is always fun. And having Jason is on of the best features. Now I enjoy the latest MK with my kids.

I have played all Mortal Kombat games and this one feels totally different (for the better). Fatalities are crazy to watch, but the gameplay is awesome! The fighting is very fluent and the story, even though its cliché, I enjoyed very much. If you are looking for a great fighting game, this is the one to go with.

i only played 1 other mortal kombat game other than this one i must say its pretty good i like the story they have which is great its just not about fighting and thats it. graphics are great combos are cool and the fatalities are gruesome and you can ell they got an expert for the human body. reason why i gave 4 stars is the x ray moves show shattered skull and broken neck that means your dead but you sill continue to be alive.

When the last mk came out I thought they just blew it out of the water. Well I stand corrected. IO have purchased this darn game for xboxone ps4 and the 360 for my kid. The controls are boss. the story is sick. OMG!!!!! The fatalities are the best you've ever seen. Gold star on this badboy.

While no where near perfect, I'm having a blast with this new Mortal Kombat. Just when the series was getting tired again, the new characters, fresh worlds, interesting story (though a bit short and campy) breathe new life into the series. On a 1 to 10 scale, this game is a solid 9 for me. The only cons are the clunky, choppy animations that appear mostly during taunts and between rounds. The sweat is not very well done in the game either, making characters look like orange peels, instead of flesh that's dripping sweat or mildly glistening. The online features have been a bit of a headache too. It seems 5 times out of 10 I cannot connect to Living Towers, Faction servers, online play, etc. I'm guessing this will be fixed. Also, the female characters's arms are too short, which makes it harder to land punches in combo openers and the like. These points aside, the game is INCREDIBLY fun. It's quickly becoming my fourth favorite Mortal Kombat, after the original three arcade titles.

Ah Mortal Kombat. I have played these games since the MK1 in the arcade. MKX is another step in keeping the series relevant. Great graphics, gameplay and sound. Gory fatalities with a little humor. 4 stars because of all the paid DLC and microtransactions that are in this game. Microtransactions have no place in AAA games like MKX. Otherwise, great fighting game with lots to keep you playing for weeks.
