This sprinkler controller is such an upgrade from my last old school analog unit. The app works great, and itself simple to connect to your wifi. It also has a good smart wating feature to help skip scheduled watering days when it rains. I didn't edge the yard in the picturw, so please don't judge me!

The Rachio is a spectacular and easy to use device. Extremely easy to install if you have an irrigation controller already...for me it was wired up exactly the same. My rain sensor even works flawlessly with the Rachio which was unexpected but awesome. With the Rachio you can control your sprinkler system from anywhere in the world. The service also intelligently determines how much time/water each zone needs to get the most healthy grass for your climate and area. It really takes the guessing game out of watering your lawn. I did have trouble getting the Rachio set up using my iPhone. For some reason it refused to connect the device with my WiFi. However, when I switched to my iPad it was a breeze to set up. I found it really frustrating. But, I'll forgive it because at the time my iPhone was on a beta software. Replacing my older controller with the Rachio took about 10 minutes of actual work. The longest time spent was mapping the old wires and making sure they were in the same 'zone' in the new controller. After everything was wired up, and I finished the pain of setting it on the wifi, the Rachio worked first try. I recommend you use the intelligent schedule for your lawn maintenance. This is a setting for you schedule that allows it to adjust to the season and the local weather patters. If you do not have a rain sensor you can also take advantage of the built in feature that uses the local forecast to rain skip. Overall, I didn't know a thing about how sprinkler systems were set up before this, however I can easily recommend this to anyone. It is a quick D.I.Y project that you will be thanking yourself for. It adds a slew of smart features to both save you water and take advantage of the best watering schedules.

If you are looking for a replacement for your current sprinkler controller that comes with a great app and easy to install, this is it. It took less than an hour to install and configure. The app itself is easy to use. Be sure to label or take pictures of your current wire setup before disconnecting the old one; it will make the install go a lot easier.

Rachio is awesome! Easy setup and easy controlling. The whole interface is great. You press "play" to watcher and "Pause" to pause. The usability is super, very little learning curve to be an expert. The fact that it adjusts with weather is so cool. I can comfortably just leave it all alone knowing that Rachio will take care if my lawn!

So far so good. Its been 4 weeks and system works without a problem. Takes control of watering based on the information you provide on the app. In fact it waters less than the old system it replaced or seems to, due to it takes control of when it comes on. The app is nice and easy to read. Install was mostly easy. Don't forget the outdoor box and review the wiring before moving forward. Instructions/illustrations could be better because it seems to be geared for the pro and not for the diy guy like it should.

This thing is great! Simple set up and use. Nice to be able to control and monitor my sprinkler system while eating dinner or watching TV. Easy to use interface, works well with iPad. Monitors watering and even shows the weather with precipitation amounts. Overall, a great and inexpensive system.

Love the app and the ease of setup and use. This was easynto wite up as you match what you already had and the wifi was easy to setup. The smart watering program is awesome as well.

I picked this bad boy up for $99 when it was on sale and I’m glad I did because I love it so far. Take a picture of your wire setup before you disconnect the wires so you can set your Rachio up the same way. I pair Rachio with Alexa and now I can give voice commands to control my sprinklers. This is a game changer.

I bought this to replace a timer that was not operating properly. I set up the rain skip based on the recommendation form the app. I later adjusted it to ensure that the lawn received the correct amount of watering after a couple of weeks. That feature works like a charm and does not water the lawn when a certain amount of rain is forecasted. I watched videos on the Rachio website when installing and setting it up to ensure proper operation for my sprinkler system. The videos were straight forward and let me do exactly what I wanted. The app is convenient and easy to use.

Very easy to install and use. The weather intelligence skip is hit or miss on accuracy since the forecast it uses doesn’t match most other weather sources. Other than that, it’s great being able to manually run specific zones for specific times if you think areas need a little more water. If I were to take a star off, it would be because it randomly loses connection to WiFi. It hasn’t happened too often and it’s a simple 30 second reset to fix it.

I bought this to replace my old box. The old one wasn’t very old at all. Maybe a few years, if that. It wouldn’t shut off and ran my water bill through the roof. I bought this one here at Best Buy. Not only has it saved me thousands of gallons of water. It has also saved me over 350 gallons this year due to the WiFi feature that bypasses watering when rain is forecasted. I couldn’t be happier. But one, you won’t be disappointed!!!!!!!

This is my first Smart Wi-Fi sprinkler controller. So my only reference for comparison was my old RainBird system. Installation is very simple if you can drill holes on the wall and is not intimidated by connecting and disconnecting wires. You can watch a number of videos on YouTube for assistance if needed. I can testify to the ease of setting the system up to connect to home wifi. The app (I use ios devices) is intuitive. I have the system for 3 weeks now it has disconnected to wi-fi once. I believe that being offline doesn't affect the scheduled watering but you cannot use the app to run or change setting during that time. It might not even be a problem with Rachio but could be a problem with my wifi router. The reason I left out one star is because of the water skip function. I wish it works differently. The system is programmed to water every 5 days (in my area during summer time). It will skip a watering cycle if there is a certain amount of forecast rainfall 24 hours before or 24 hours after that cycle. So if my next watering cycle is Saturday and it rains on Friday, it will skip the Saturday watering cycle but the next cycle will still be the following Thursday (5 days from Sat). I think it is more "intelligent" for the system to shift the watering cycle rather than skipping a cycle. So if it rains on Friday and the Saturday watering cycle is skipped, the next watering cycle should be changed to the following Wednesday, instead of Thursday. On paper this may not sound like a big deal but if you can imagine a scenario when rain always come 2 days before your watering cycle, the system will never skip any watering cycle and you will never save any money. Therefore after each rainfall, I have to manually go to the app and reschedule the following watering cycle. It is a little more work but this still beats my old system by a mile. I hope there will be software upgrade in the future to address this.

Easy installation, simple interface, and hands off watering.

This is my first Rachio product, Installation of this system is easy, it uses local weather stations to predict the incoming rain and avoids watering those days, app interface very simple and easy to use, manually watering separate zones is a breeze.

This water controller is very helpful in watering properly, at the right times, and the right amount. It is the cheaper version and is a good entry point for those uncertain about a smart water controller. I've recommended it to all of my family.

A must have technology! I am impressed with the ease of use and love being able to control my sprinklers through the app. Plus the app follows the weather in your area and changes the watering based on rain. So cool and a must have!

I purchased the rachio smart sprinkler to go with my smart home and it was the best decision I could've made it not only made watering my grass easier it does it for me completely, set it and forget it.
