This game doesn't do anything new or innovative, but instead, it combines familiar elements perfectly. This is a platformer/3rd person shooter, but the gameplay here is polished so much that I can't name a single flaw in it. Plus, the is one of the most beautiful games of all time, and there is no reason for this game to look so great. Do not just dismiss this as a movie tie-in game, a children's game, or a simple remaster. This is on of the best games on PS4 and it should be played by everyone who owns the system, young or old.

Ratchet and Clank love this duo and the many levels they take you through. Very fun and one of the more relaxing game series to play.

As a huge Ratchet & Clank fan I was thoroughly impressed with what they accomplished in this game. Reimagining of original story that felt fresh and just as entertaining as ever. Pixar like visuals that help capture the characters and world of R&C like never before. Voice acting and dialog all on par as well. It was amazing to see Ratchet & Clank reinvigorated in this new light. Writing this review makes me want to play more. Good day to you all.

I have the movie but I never really played the game. So I had to try it out so far the gameplay is fun.

Bought it purely out of nostalgia. This game delivers exactly what I remember.

This game, first of all, is drop-dead gorgeous. Pixar-animation quality visuals have finally hit video games, and it's amazing. Insomniac hits you with nostalgia with familiar, yet different levels from the original game. Gameplay is fantastic...classic Ratchet & Clank. And the weapons! Weapons are awesome as usual, signature R&C. The game's story is great, but I may need to see the movie, which is what it's based off of as well. It's also really funny! Parents, this is a MUST HAVE for kids, but please select the "casual" difficulty for the little ones, as this game can get a bit frustrating for them. Another Outstanding exclusive from Playstation, excellent job by Insomniac!

I've been a fan of Ratchet and Clank since I played Size Matters on PSP in 2008. After playing through many of it's PS3 entries, the time has come for it to get it's own film, along with a remake of the original game for PS4. This game works on all levels. The presentation of the game is perfect, and its graphics look like a Pixar movie during gameplay. In fact, there are clips from the film in the game, and the actual game looks better than the movie! The gameplay is very well executed, It's a hybrid 3rd person shooter and platformer, and both are equally fun and satisfying. However, the gameplay loop is what really makes this game addictive. Using weapons levels them up, which unlocks more abilities for them. In addition, killing enemies get's you bolts and raritanium, which is used to purchase those upgrades. And on top of that, you can earn cards by killing enemies, and completing sets of those cards earn you special versions of weapons and increases the rate at which you earn bolts and raritanium. The humor is here as well, and it is just as great as ever, and still just as relatable. The trophies are fair, and I already have it's platinum. It switches the pace from the standard shooting to space battles, laser puzzles, Clank sections, and grind rail sections, which keeps everything fresh. I can not recommend this game enough. It is pure joy. Like a hug from a friend you haven't seen in awhile who smells like strawberries, but in video game form. If you enjoy happiness, then you should get this game.

If you are a fan of 3D platformers, and sorely missed them over the years in a sea of open world, RPG, FPS games, then do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Insomniac did a fantastic job with this reboot. The graphics are phenomenal, the controls precise and tight, and the weapons are hilarious and fun to use. There is a reason this game was unanamously well received by the critics, it really is that good. Great for the entire family, as well as that awesome impulse price. I truly hope this is a sign to come for these classic games to make a comeback, and I look forward to a sequel.

Ratchet and Clank is what every modern "remake" or "remaster" of a classic game should aspire to be. There are enough differences, in terms of story, characters, and locales to give this game its own identity, separate from the 2002 game it's based on, but there's also a degree of familiarity to it all that makes for a wonderful, almost surreal experience for longtime fans of the series. As someone who grew up with this series, and the aforementioned 2002 PlayStation 2 version of Ratchet and Clank, seeing familiar locations and characters rendered in full 1080p, with a level of detail that could rival some of Pixar's finest animation, is not only an amazing experience, but a testament to just how quickly technology advances in such a short period of time. Simply put: this is one of the most beautiful games currently available for the PlayStation 4. In terms of gameplay, for fans of the original series, Ratchet & Clank reminds us of why it was one of the best action platformers on the market for over a decade, and, for those new to the series, as with everything else in the game, it reinvents the formula of past games with an unparalleled level of precision that, initially, takes some getting used to, but, ultimately, proves particularly rewarding. There are several new gameplay mechanics added, as well, but, most notably, is the ability to level up, upgrade, and customize your weapons. Each weapon has its own skill tree that you can unlock through currency found in the game (in this universe, that takes the form of bolts and an alien mineral called raritanium), and it can be upgraded to fit your play style, with perks for improved accuracy and the ability to carry more ammunition, among others. It's yet another small, but noticeable change that serves to separate this game from its past-gen predecessor. There's a ton of stuff to do here, outside of the main story, as well. In addition to hidden "Gold Bolts" (a staple of this series; collecting these rewards you with bonus content including different costumes, filters for the game, concept art, and gameplay cheats), that provide you with a reason to revisit the game, should you beat it and want something else to do, there is also a new card collecting mechanic in the form of "holocards" that drop from defeated enemies or are hidden in secret locations. These cards allow you to further upgrade your weapons, should you collect them all, and, in one case, unlock the most powerful weapon in the game. Ratchet & Clank is a blast, and it's perfect for the whole family. For fans like myself, who've watched the original series grow into a franchise with a library of over 10 titles available under the brand, this is a perfect exercise in nostalgia, reminding you why you fell in love with the series, while portraying the original classic in a whole new light, and, for those who just think it looks like a great game, this is a perfect opportunity to jump in and start from the beginning. The humor, heart, and unique characters are what allowed this series to endure for as long as it has, and this game does not disappoint, allowing a new generation to enjoy this rousing tale of friendship and heroism in a galaxy far, far away.

This game is an absolute return to form for the series, the writing, the gameplay, the graphics, all of it is top notch, and it all runs at a smooth 30 fps. While I own the Ratchet and Clank HD collection I really hadn't put too much time into the game, but this game has made me a fan of the series all over again, and has won the honor of being my FAVORITE PS4 game. It takes me back to the days here games were just good for the sake of being good, no day 1 DLC, no online passes, no pre order bounses, no overly complicated story, no constant hand holding, you just go in, and enjoy everything the game has to offer. A great story with great gameplay, and deep mechanics as far as leaving weapons go, with lots of reaplyability for people who want to try challenge mode or continue with a harder new game+ mode to continue to max out the cool arsenal of weapons you get. This is easily one of the best games I've played this year if not one the best games ever for me.

This game has everything you could ask for in a R&C game. Aesthetically, this game blows A Crack in Time out of the water (and that game was a beauty on its own). The controls are familiar and responsive as ever; my little nephew who has never played the series quickly adapted within an hour. Good ol' golden bolts are back, along with a plethora of holocards to find for the collectible fans out there. The story is largely similar to the original R&C, only this time it is told through Captain Qwark's perspective. The charming characters and humor are all there. Tl;dr I cannot praise this game enough, if you're into 3rd person platformer with awesome weapons, get it!

Really good game for kids to get into. Fun action.

Short and sweet review: it is a beautiful game to see, fun world to explore, and has a steep learning curve for movement and weapons skills. The weapons are fun and varied - pixelator and sheep cannon are hilarious. No microtransactions, yeah! It's like playing the movie as it has several well made scenes that have humor and provide a compelling story to carry you through the levels and bosses. There are some difficulty spikes, but overall it is a relaxing and fun adventure. It does however make watching the movie redundant as the game's cut scenes are essentially the important parts of the movie that just came out.

Ratchet and Clank are back in their new game based off the movie which is tied to the game. I'm glad there is a full release of the Ratchet and Clank series and not a HD Remaster. The graphics in this game are amazing, the story is great with awesome characters and great cut scenes. Of course it wouldn't be a ratchet game without high end weapons they do make a return and you can level them up so they do even more damage. If you are a fan you owe it to yourself to pick this one up and at $40 or $31.99 with gamers club how can you pass that up.

The latest Ratchet & Clank game is nothing short of amazing! A reimagining of the first Ratchet & Clank which released way back in 2002, it brings things familiar yet fresh at the same time. The graphics are the best it's ever been and comes packed with weapons and gadgets R&C fans have grown to love over the years. You could say this game is a love letter to fans. And with a launch price of $40 this experience is very affordable. If you're on the fence about this don't be. This is a great experience to own.

Ratchet and Clack games are third-person platforming shooters in a space opera setting with comedy and cartoonish characters. The worlds are enormous and the story is fun. It's based on the movie...based on the original game. Many silly weapons like a disco ball that makes enemies dance to one that turns them into sheep are very fun to use. Replay value is very high as there is are rewards for playing through it again and many items to unlock.

I think it has a very good gameplay loop and collect a lot of weapons. Not a long story but easy to use. I think the humor is good.

This is a joy to play for any Ratchet & Clank fan from the initial runs on the PS2 and brings back that same fluid gameplay of the original few games. The game is a re-imagining of the first game so it treads similar grounds as that game in terms of the storyline but it still feels fresh as the gameplay upgrades definitely make it worth playing. The storyline is funny and zany and it's clear that the game doesn't take itself too seriously which is great these days for gamers who are tired of the mature storylines that are so commonplace these days. There are a huge variety of weapons and each has its uses. There is a leveling up system for both the characters and weapons which adds some grind ability to the game as well as a new game + type mode which allows you to keep your weapons and play at a harder difficulty. The only downside is that the game is relatively short but the lower price still makes it a great deal because I had a ton of fun playing this game. It brought me back to the early days of gaming and showed me again why I loved games as a kid. It's a simple third-person shooter with great platforming and shooting mechanics that plays great and is a lot of fun throughout.
