The Razer Blackshark V2 headset... TLDR: best bang for the buck in this price range! Sound Quality: This is a closed-back headset and it does well to provide very accurate directional audio. Compared to my A40s, mids & highs are a bit less pronounced but still good enough to hear what you need to to play at a high level. If you play FPS games, you'll appreciate these headsets as footsteps and directions are very discernible. The addition of the Razer USB soundcard is also a nice addition to provide better audio quality compared to your standard 3.5mm outputs. One thing to note is the volume knob - it is in reverse from what i'm used to... Turning it counter clock-wise will go up in volume and clock-wise will lower the volume. Thought that was strange, but eventually i got used to it. This may not be an issue for others, so it's not worth docking any stars over but worth mentioning. Comfort: These headphones have some very comfy earpads. I have pretty big ears, and when gaming over a few hours, i don't experience any discomfort with my ears or my head from the headset. The inner ear pads have a thin layer that sits between your ears and the drivers, thus if your ears are big, there won't be any hard contact that would cause ear discomfort. One thing to note also is that these are very light as well, so this helps to alleviate any strain you may experience with other headsets with prolonged use. Form Factor & Build Quality: Since this is a budget gaming headset, this is an area where you can see some corners were cut. Each earcup is connected via two adjustment rods that move independently of each other. What this means is that when adjusting the headset, if you don't evenly apply pressure to lengthen/shorten the earcup, then it may be uneven (one rod may have more length than the other). This mechanism makes it certainly more tedious to adjust the headset, however once set you wouldn't have to repeat this process again so it's not a make or break factor. Outside of the earcups, the microphone is detachable and very good. Compared to my A40s, the microphone quality is on par, so that is a big plus! Razer also provides software to adjust mic & sound profiles as well, so don't forget to download it to adjust to your liking. The audio cable on the other hand is not detachable, so you will not be able to replace it if you need to (or detach it when you are putting it in your bag to travel). Overall, in this price range i would definitely recommend this headset.

Love these!! So far so good!!! Great sound that you can adjust with the software. Others report they can hear me well and I dont even have to talk loud. I talk real low and they still can hear me amongst all the gunfire and chaos in the game. I like taht the mic is detachable too for better storage or if you just want to rock them for listening to music or movies. I like the volume control on the headset is a know for more precise colume control. Its a little big but it does its job. I like that the mute button is a button and not a switch. They are pretty comfortable but I have to find that sweet spot in the adjustments so it is not too tight or too loose. The mic monitoring is nice but you have to choose if you want to add gain and pic up mre background noise or someone talking in the background or if you want to cut that all out. I chose a wired headset because I feel it gives more consistancy and I dont have to worry about charging it. The cord can be cumbersome but thats a sacrifice im willing to take

I have had these headphones for a month now and I love them. They are a great overall pair for the $100 price range. Pros: Sound is great, the surround sound is really immersive. They are very comfortable, the ear pads are comfortable against my head and I can easily wear them for 6 hours at a time and not get any pressure pain or discomfort. The mic clarity is good. Cons: Not sure if I got a weird pair or if it's all of them, but the cord constantly wraps itself up. Almost like it is getting tangled on itself, which results in the cord being short. Every few days, I have to unplug them and unravel the cord (which doesn't take more than 20 seconds) and then plug them back in. The bass isn't spectacular in these headphones. It isn't bad, but it doesn't compare at all to other headphones I have had. You won't notice much normally but I listen to dubstep a lot and the sound is just ok for that heavy bass music. Overall I would definitely recommend. 4 stars instead of 5 only because of the two cons I listed. I feel like both of those could be made possible in $100 headphones.

These are great headphones for gaming, conference calls, and general use. The quick mute button just behind the ear is super handy, especially on conference calls, and the ability to adjust the volume on the headset is also super convenient, especially if having a problem hearing a participant on a call. Note the headphones are wired and I purposely bought them to replace my Son's wireless version after the charging port broke. Now we both rely on this model of headphones. The only complaint I do have is that the cord seems to get twisted too easily and you have to unwind it. It's a minor complaint, but a complaint I have. Overall though, happy with these and would buy again.

Great quality. THX spatial audio is great in atmospheric games and multiplayer. Cable just curls up a bit too often.

Fantastic headset, the usb sound card is great, and if the cord between them breaks both of them are instantly useless garbage. Razer does not do any repairs, designs the cord to be unable to be repaired manually or by 3rd party repair shops, and you cannot replace the cable with a new one. If one piece breaks, they want you to buy a whole new bundle. If you are buying a wired headset, the absolute biggest recommendation I would have is to get one with a detachable cord and look up beforehand how easily you can buy a replacement cord if needed. It is a really nice headset while it works, though.

The Razer Blackshark V2 is a wired headset with esports gamers in mind. It has a lot of features, including a new headphone driver design and an included USB sound card with THX Spatial audio. Does it live up to the hype, and can it be worn for hours without making your head feel like it’s being crushed by the Mountain? Let’s find out! Opening the box, there is a bit of paperwork, and then the headset, cable, and USB sound card all attached together in a drawstring bag. Even though it looks like the cable might pull out of the headset, don’t try! It’s permanently attached to the headset. The cable has a higher quality braided jacket, but I personally really hate attached cables. It makes the entire headset dependent on that cable not getting a short in it. It also means you can’t detach it for travel, so you have to have a case or the included bag with space off of the ear cup to pack it. Finally, you can’t put on a shorter or longer cable (without an extension) to suit your setup, if you use a controller for audio, you will need to use the attached cinch on the cable to control the slack. Moving on from my annoyance with the cable, the headset has a lot going for it. The controls on the left ear cup are easy to use, with a detent at 50% volume so you know where you are easily. It also has a push button mute/unmute. The headband is nicely wrapped with soft material on the top and memory foam on the bottom. The adjustment is interesting – it is just a pull down to adjust like most other headsets, but there are two thin black steel wires that connect to the ear up hinges. It doesn’t allow the ear cups to pivot to lay flat, but it’s extremely light and allows more air circulation around the ear cushions. Wearing the headset is a dream. I actually forget I’m wearing them. They are incredibly light and the clamping strength needed to hold them is so low that you can wear them for hours without a headache. The memory foam ear cushions just form to your head and it all feels right without getting hot. Plugging in the USB sound card automatically launches the Razer Synapse software installer. Having to create an account is mildly annoying, but so common now that you barely notice. The software gives a lot of control over the sound and microphone, and the ability to tune the THX spatial audio to different apps or games, with automatic audio profile switching. The card will work with any headset, so if you decide to use something else some day you can still retain control over your audio. It adds a lot to the value of the kit. The microphone is good, comms were reported as clear and easy to understand by others I was playing with. One little thing – when the ambient noise reduction option was enabled, it dropped my mic volume overall, so I was harder to hear speaking with my natural voice level. No one reported any noise getting in anyway, so I left this setting off. The software/sound card also allow the mic audio to be fed back into the headset, avoiding the “shouting into a cave” effect when wearing fully enclosed over the ear headsets. Finally, the audio! Razer promises a best of all worlds with the titanium coated triforce drivers in the headset. The theory is that different parts of the single driver diaphragm have their own tuning, so the one driver can provide better sound for the highs, mids, and lows. Does it work? Yeah. The sound quality is really great, playing games or listening to music, this headset can do it all. At this price point, it is a great value. It also does a good job of isolating outside noise without fully active cancellation. I like ANC in the right situation, but it comes with a ton of tradeoffs (and more cost) and isn’t needed for most gaming environments. The spatial audio effects work very well – using both the THX audio included with the sound card, and Dolby Atmos for Headphones on my Xbox, the simulated surround sound is really convincing. Spatial audio needs well balanced and capable drivers to work right, and it works great here. Compared to my other headset (in the same price range), which lacks bass, it is much easier to pinpoint sounds with this headset using the same sound card and spatial audio settings. Overall, at this price point, this headset is fantastic. The Triforce drivers are the real deal, and the included usb sound card gives a lot of control. The headset would be pretty close to perfect if the cable wasn’t permanently attached. It’s enough of an issue for me that it cost the headset a star, but I would still recommend it for the sound quality and incredible comfort.

Love this headset for PC gaming. It's super comfortable and stays cool after hours of use. An added bonus is the great sound quality and I am surprised how much I like having a real volume knob. Cons would be that the cable can be easy to kink at first, and the size adjustment becomes undone easily. Overall it's a great headset that I use every chance I get and was worth the price.
