It does do an ok job as far as getting the channels...the biggest downfall for me was that it was an eye sore. Even for a guest room

Its an antenna. It works. I wasn't impressed or unimpressed. It It did the job it said it did. I didn't think it was worth the full price.

    Solid step up

This is a good step up from the passive antennas. For the price, it does a solid job boosting signal strength. Finding a sweet spot can be tricky, as digital signals "fall off a cliff." Either you get it or you don't. If you're considering this product, you probably know that already.

It only gets us 2 local channels, 2 & 38. It doesn't even get us channel 10, and their station is the closest one to us.

This so-called "amplified" antenna is no better than any other rabbit ears antenna. I expected better reception due to a feature that was supposed to amplify the signal and maintain reception. I still have local channels fading in and out randomly just as I had with a cheap basic rabbit ear antenna. Not worth extra money.
