My wife still unable to Tex, make or receive calls while my phone worked without issues. Other reviews were mixed but I gave it a try.

Four of us had the same carrier and the service was not good in our new area. So after a bit of research, we decided to give this product a try since the price was right. It was on sale for $19.99. We are happy with it and even though the bars don't change on the phone, my text messages go through much better than without it, which makes me happy. I wasn't as concerned with getting calls, since I have a desk phone, so I cannot comment on that.

I was having terrible connection problems with my iPhone 5s and was at the end of my rope with the phone. What a disappointment! Reception was worse than before and the phone got extremely hot. Took the product back for a refund.

while still not having the phone show an extra “bar”. A full “bar” improvement requires 10 dBs, which equals a very big 10X improvement in your signal.

You may also see better battery life because the phone isn’t having to work as hard to find and hold a signal.
The reason for this is that your phone's signal strength is measured in dB’s which use a logarithmic scale that is non linear like the earthquake scale. This means that you can have a 2 dB improvement (which gives you a 1.5X signal improvement) while still not having the phone show an extra “bar”. A full bar of improvement for your signal takes 10 dBs, which equals a VERY BIG 10X improvement in your signal.
