Well water taste removed

We have had a couple bad filters and after researching online, it seems to be common enough to mention. We use filtered water for coffee and pets and to stay hydrated so we go through about 5 pitchers a day and it does last almost 6 months.

I was wary of knockoffs based on reviews from a certain South American rainforest website, so I went with BestBuy since this was where I bought my fridge. Was not disappointed.

I tested the one we got with a very good ppm detector for water, and it removed less than 5% of the detected chemicals. No way would I drink this "filtered" water. See the pics of before and after ppm's after filtering. (parts per million)

Posted .Our XWFE filter is designed to be used in select model GE and GE Profile brand refrigerators. This filter is NSF42 and 53 certified to remove contaminants and impurities in your water. We'd recommend checking with your dealer about exchanging this filter. -Vikki@GEAppliances
Black particles in water still after 10 gallons

Well I have used more than 10 gallons and there are still always black particles in my water. I think I got a defective one and it feels like I wasted my money.

I had previously bought from a large online retailer and the filters did not work because they were XWF filters with a XWFE label. The XWFE filters have a microchip which permits the water to flow! I will stick with BestBuy or GE to source my future filters! This filter is very easy to change and provides excellent water in my fridge! Ice cubes are excellent and water tastes great. NOTE" when using this filters, be certain to fun plenty of water through after changing them so that all of the carbon dust is flushed out... otherwise, dark cubes! (won't hurt you , just looks bad!).

French Door Refrigerator and every 6 months we have to replace the water filter. So far, so good. Product is reliable and water looks very fresh and clean. The filter is super easy to install, just keep in mind ... $50 every 6 months!
